Not sure how I feel about this...

It would be better as a next gen exclusive so they can take advantage of the new and more powerful tech, IMO.

Everything is X86 next gen. Hence devs dont incur much cost making a game multiplatform. Its more profitable for business to cater to all platforms.

Since all the platforms are PC like architecture there is a good chance all platforms will get good optimzation and if the devs can get more money catering to more platforms plus the gamers are happy with that too. Id say its a good thing more games are multiplatform.

Now the difference between the consoles obviously wont be too much they will be very close to each other in performance just like current gen, While the PC tends to progress.

I would think they should make PC version lead, then dumb it down for consoles. That way everyone wins. We will end up getting more games like BF3, taking advantage of every platform out there.

Unfortunately we have seen many devs close shop this gen. So yea more platforms just ensures the devs stay alive and we keep seeing them bring on the games.

The only problem about the game being a cross-gen title is the PS4 is far ahead of the PS3 it's capable of allowing developers to things in games that wasn't previously possible.

If it's available for previous consoles then that would just hold the game back, IMO.

some console fanboys downvoting .. but i agree bro.

puamdefokejpn4064d ago

Agreed,.. but then again, if more people play it the better,..(and your framerate will be stable :) -you won't be able to blame the framerate while sucking)

Fromsoftware is really my favorite developer ever,. so I wish them all well,.. Also they need to bring 3D Dot Heroes to the Vita. -get this, because it is awesome

a_bro4064d ago

they should bring a souls game to vita as well, LOL

DragonKnight4064d ago

This is pure speculation. Just because a new engine is being used does not mean that the chances for a cross gen title are high.

landog4064d ago

maybe it will actually run above 20 frames on ps4 nextbox

theDECAY4064d ago

I've had a few points with frame rate slowdown in the original, but overall it really was never a big deal. I wouldn't say it ever cost me many souls or anything worth much.

Campy da Camper4064d ago

The underground portions of Souls were quite bad on ps3.

Hydralysk4064d ago (Edited 4064d ago )

So pointless conjecture is enough for an article now?

Who goes "Huh, Dark Souls 2 is running on a new engine, an engine that could maybe run on next gen consoles,, this means DS2 could be cross generation. THIS IS NEWSWORTHY."

The gaming media seriously needs to stop regurgitating rumours.

The game isn't good though.

DS2 was fine. While there was a bit of recycling assets or ideas for bosses, it was a bigger more open Dark Souls. The Fume knight boss is one of the hardest bosses in the series until Sekiro and Elden Ring were released.

The problem with Dark Souls 2 was the same problem when a different director takes over for a sequel to an outstanding movie. It typically (there are exceptions) doesn’t have the feel and vision of the previous movie.

I wouldn’t say Dark Souls 2 is terrible. Had Dark Souls 1 never been a thing and we got this, I think it would have been praised more. The problem is it didn’t have the Miyazaki touch to it and felt pretty derivative. The soundtrack is a banger though.

Aussiesummer58d ago

And it will happen in the future when he doesn’t touch them as he is planning on.

I like DS 2, might even be my favorite of the 3. But it's a hard sell, there's so many obscure things you need to do to make it an enjoyable experience. So always find it hard to recommend, but it is worth the trouble.

All the bosses are only from Dark Souls. No Bloodborne, Sekiro, Elden Ring, or Demon Souls
