Believe It Or Not, Diablo 3 Is Now An Awesome Game

GR writes: "After months of patches, Diablo III is now in a state that I can confidently call ‘proper’. More specifically, it’s where the game should have been on release. Sure, it took 10 months for it to reach this point, but sometimes it isn’t how you start but how you finish that dictates success. It’s now a game that is worth playing beyond the leveling phase, and myself and many others who have come back to see what’s new have consequently been sucked back into the unrelenting addictiveness of Diablo."

This makes me wish that sometimes, companies would be more patient and not rush games to market. That's why I'm not upset at all about the GTA5 delay. Make it better, make it what it SHOULD be, and then ship it out.

LOL... what BS of a site.

How much did Blizzard pay them for this article? They don't even try to hide it, with a banner on top of the site, selling Diablo 3 and gold for Diablo 3. Unbelievable.

JonnyBigBoss4059d ago

We got paid nothing and the reason you see that ad is because Google Adsense noticed you were looking at something related to Diablo III.

I just came back after quitting for 9 months and have loved what I experienced, hence the article.

I agree with you Boss!

I've quit for about 5 months, and it was the Developer blog post a few days ago that's got me all excited to give the game another shot.

Blizzard seems to finally "get it" and are going to address the itemization issues.

I do want this game to have the same success as D2 was able to enjoy

ThanatosDMC4059d ago

No thanks. This game doesnt deserve the Diablo name, but I'm glad they finally changed the way they communicated to the community on the forums.

Too bad we still do not have a game that's a successor to Diablo 2 even with all this patches. They really need to increase the sizes of the maps/acts or something. There's no point in re-rolling characters either.

Still nothing beats a Barbarian Bear form from D2 or a BlizSoc.

Mounce4059d ago

I'm with ThanatosDMC on this one, no matter if Blizzard fanbots and other people thumb 'Our' type down who won't side with it. Torchlight and Path of Exile if more of a Diablo-game as a Clone than Diablo 3 is with its own name.

I bought the Collector's edition of Diablo 3 and it was the biggest mistake in my Gaming-life beyond buying Half-Life Blue-shift at launch(Since the bloody game could be beaten in 3 hours -_- and at launch-price it was like, $45-50 at the time)

Diablo 3 has a childishly cliched story, cliched and laughable demon bosses that are so predictable and outrageously unrealistic to believe in as a person, that it just steals away any sense of depth to the story that is hidden under the mere concept of 'Grind and Loot and Auction House' crap.

Belial and Azmodan are the worst characters I've ever heard and seen and especially the pointless Nostalgic-milked/forced uses of the Skeleton King AND the Butcher from Diablo 1 would make the REAL and in-the-past horrifying version of the Buther weep tears of blood and sadness over how sad this is.

Even this guy knows what the fuck I'm talking about, read the Thread OP's post and how he explains it, hope people will come to realize the truth once you REALLY think about it.

The only...and ONLY reason why this game was released at this time is because its fans had been talking about this game for more than a decade.

Once they had in-game play demos at Blizzcon 2009, it's fans just got more excited. Finally in late 2010 we're given some light that it will be released in the summer of 2011 or the Fall....those months go by and all we're told is that it's coming along.

Then we're seeing some progress statements being released about it and by now pre-orders are through the roof without a release date, the campaign is just about done, gameplay and bugs are being fixed....what else do you do? You give a finalized release date.

Unfortunately a lot of problems occurred at Blizzards post development team in a very short amount of time. They were noticing all the problems that they over looked, and they just kept piling up...when you have millions of pre orders, and they're expecting a release in less than 4 weeks...you can't go back anymore, you have to rely on patches. Unfortunately these patches have taken 9 months to make the game "solid".

majiebeast4060d ago

I decided to play 2 hours and had a damn good barb set chest drop.

ThanatosDMC4059d ago

You'll have better gear crafting now, just so you know. Recent legendaries are pieces of crap now that do not sell.

Blastoise4060d ago

I'll probably end up picking it up for PS3 at some point.

Saying that though, I can totally see why it's hated. With real money auctions, always online & error messages you can see why there was a lot of negativity for this game on release. I'm just eager to try out a Diablo game, and there aren't too many games like this on console

sithsylar4060d ago

Yep im thinking about going down that route to bypass the drm.

sithsylar4060d ago

I won't be touching it until the DRM is gone from it.....

The Greatest Video Game Comeback Stories in Gaming History

Who says a dud game can't have a video game comeback?

Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky have to be up there. We're lucky and cursed, equally, to have games that can be updated now. For folks old enough to remember the Sega/SNES into PS1 and even 2 eras, if a game came out that was half baked (*cough*Angel of Darkness*cough*) that was it, no redemption. At the same time, having the option for updates shouldn't be an excuse for half assing games.

thorstein78d ago

I remember when the Nintendo Seal of Approval meant something.

All those games had to release without bugs.

shinoff218379d ago

Comebacks shouldnt be a thing in videogames. Just saying.

Diablo III - Still a Huge Draw in the Face of Diablo IV

Diablo III still works on modern PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and remains hugely playable a decade after initial release.

Palitera387d ago

Are you comparing a continuously improved 10+ years old masterpiece with the... beta of an unreleased game?

kevco33387d ago

Heh, yeah. There's no comparison in here! Its a commentary on how III is still very playable over a decade later.

Diablo III Season 28 Brings a New Use for the Staff of Herding

Diablo III: Season 28 brings with it the Altar of Rites, an altar full of unlockable bonuses and potions that will require the gathering of tons of resources. One of things needed is the Staff of Herding, which also unlocks the famous Cow Level known as Whimsyshire. Here's how to craft that staff, for those that either have forgotten, or have never completed it.
