GRID 2's Cockpit Cam Removed to Appease Console Owners

Same. Even before cockpit views, I always had it in '1st person'. When more games starting using cockpit views, I was extremely happy. I always drive in it.

I totally agree. Almost always drive in cockpit view, it doesn't make sense to make a racing game without a freakin cockpit view!! Probably won't even buy this game now

As awesome as cockpit view is (I prefer to use it), You do gain an advantage and it makes the game easier to use the 3rd person/car view.

Just bought GRiD on the 360 marketplace for $9.99. Thought I'd give it another spin before GRiD2 drops. The cockpit view in GRiD is punishing, as you hit another vehicle the window cracks limiting your view. It is one of the games that I have actually gone back to 3rd persion view, because of that.

yea, but that's part of the immersion and excitement for many other GRID players. It makes it more of a challenge to race with precision and avoid the temptation to bounce off other cars to make a pass.

Just another reason why Codemaster's shoulda left the cockpit cam in the game.. that way players who still want to use it have the option, and those who preferr third person or the bumper cam have the option as well.

What a lame excuses... Fact is that they do not want to spend time improving the interior details inside each car. They blame "console owners" and not themselves for not polishing and improving the interior details of each car.

Console Owners can press a button and change the views if they want....

Title is a bit sensational. The developer basically says cockpit view was removed so they had more room to add more cars, detail on the track.

Guess I'll be sticking to NFS Shift 2. Can't drive without cockpit. Shame bout that, first Grid was good fun. Drifting was better in 3rd person though.

That's the reason why I love games like GT5, the more recent Forza games (after Forza 2 they addd a cockpit cam), Midnight Club LA, PGR series, the Original Grid... etc.

If you're really into cars, and you really want to feel that you're 'in the race', nothing beats the immersion of a nice detailed cockpit view.

As far as racing games go nowadays, most have a cockpit view (the bumper or hood view doesn't count IMO), so unfortunatley the fact that there wont be a cockpit view for GRID 2 means I will have to pass on this one, and stick with the GT and Forza series for my racing needs. Nonetheless, I think those franchises do it better than anyone anyway.

Utter BS, I own loads of racing games on console and cockpit cam is paramount for enjoyment. Standard cars are terrible on GT5 even with the update that added silhouette interiors.

F1 games I play with cockpit cam, GT5 with cockpit cam, NFS: Shift with cockpit cam, Ferrari Challenge with cockpit cam, Ferrari Racing Legends with cockpit cam. Hell I'd play GTA IV with cockpit cam in most vehicles if it had it!

The cockpit is not even the worst part. The handling of the cars in the recent demonstrations looked like the game's engine is based on Mario Kart 1996. The game is just boring if it's that easy to play it.

Project Cars has cockpit views in ALL of its cars (and the graphics/details are astounding), and its a mutliplatform title :/

Codemasters has no real excuse for this omission

I'm sorry but this is going to kill this title and i'm no longer interested to be honest. GT5 is able to do it and so was need for speed shift and even F1 does it and it's codemasters. No excuse for this.
