Gadgehit.com writes: "That’s possibly a title that makes a lot of gamers’ hairs stand on end, but I’m here to convince you why you should want more micro-transactions in your game, and why Electronics Arts isn’t the bad guy when it says it will make micro-transactions part of every one of its future games."

During a recent Game Rant interview, Gears of War creator CliffyB comments on Xbox-exclusive games possibly adopting multiplatform models.
Sometimes I don't get what he says half the times. He could of put gears on the playstation from the start but he's fanboyness for xbox got in the way
Well when you look at the sales perspective of ps5. It has a big audience selling over a 2 to 1 ratio. It makes money sense.
Fanboy era was at its prime during the ps3-360 generation. It’s not as toxic as it once was, thankfully. People grow out of it eventually. I have my preference just as the next person. That being said it’s coming to be more about expanding availability instead of standing behind a brand. Much more Microsoft than Sony. But Sony will probably move up its time of PC release for increase revenue.
We will see, it’s just speculation.
CliffyB is like David Jaffe at this point, always quick with the opinions but haven’t made a successful game in over a decade at this point. Do any of us really care what they think about anything? I certainly don’t.
Shaz from GL writes: “In an interview, Cliff Bleszinski says that he’d be interested in helping develop a Gears of War reboot akin to God of War. Unnecessary? I think so.”
A reimagining that continues the lore, and story of established characters is absolutely a great way to continue a series that needs a refresh. I agree that any long standing franchise that has run it's course definitely needs a "God of War" style reboot, because GOW did it right. I might have my issues with the last two games but they did right by the series regardless.
There's no helping Gears of Woke. Microsoft killed this franchise when they forced the woke culture into the story.
I thought they were doing a soft reboot with gears4 but then it turned out to be the exact same as all the others.
A more horror oriented and tight corridor renewal would work for that franchise....also...why they got guns? They're alien like...they should have other types of weapons entirely.
No. Gamers fear micro transitions because you can buy your way through a game eliminating any sense of accomplishment.
"I finished Dead Space 3 on super hard."
"Oh yeah, that's easy you can pay for the upgrades."
Taking the FREEmium model and applying it to a standard game is a joke.
People never follow through on not buying games, if you watch steam at all you'll know that. (I'm not taking a higher ground, I often say I'll boycott and don't.)
I don't pay £20 for a pre owned game, plus £10 to play online then a shit load to get a pissing special gun that I could unlock if I had some persistence and fucking skill.
Yes the gaming industry is in a state, that's a good point I'll give you that one.
The problem is micro-transactions have been abused since the infamous horse armor in The Elder Scrolls IV.
Back when you could not download new content, they used to release cheap add-ons and called them expansion packs. Few console games did this, but many PC games did it successfully.
When you put something into a game through DLC, it should be fairly priced and not something that either is or could have easily been placed in the disc. Gears of War 3's weapon skins DLC was not quite as bad because it was completely cosmetic, same with Valve's hat system or customizable outfits in Portal 2.
However, making the player buy weapons or modes in the game is ludicrous. Those should be defaulted as free features that should be unlocked within the game. Capcom's history of on-disc DLC and even making players pay for multiplayer modes is a stain on the downloadable market as a whole.
Micro-transactions CAN be the best thing to happen to gaming, but right now there are too many bigwigs and greedy suits who abuse the system, as well as too many gamers who indulge the rotten practices.
Says no one ever!
I'm not a fan of Pay2win in full retail priced software..Its just another form of greed and also would give players who opt to spend real cash on items/upgrades the advantage...
