Despite promising to offer one of the best sci-fi experiences yet, Aliens: Colonial Marines fails as a licensed game. What went wrong?
Too many games aren't given a second shot. We at VGU choose which games we would love to see receive a sequel.
The Saboteur - criminally underrated and a fantastic mechanic of bringing colour back to Nazi-occupied Paris.
The article lists Bulletstorm, Sleeping Dogs, and Aliens: Colonial Marines.
Player 2 takes some quiet time to look back at some of the most hyped failures of the past 10 years.
Can't argue with any of those really, but I would add Resident Evil Operation Racoon City and Metal Gear Survive to that list. Both terrible games from good franchises.
Bulletstorm, I actually liked the gameplay but the atrocious writing and characters made me despise the game by the end of it.
Thanks to a bustling mod community on Steam, Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines actually has a stellar multiplayer experience to offer these days.
I was honestly going to buy this game. Then wtf happened? lol
Bigger than Duke Nukem?? However this game was very bad.
Oh, it's not that bad...The game is serviceable & has plenty of fan service, it just goes to show that these developers aren't the bees knees that everyone thought they were. There fans laid most of the blame for Duke Nukem, on the development team that started it, but we all know they were responsible for the game as soon as they took it over, so Gearbox were the ones responsible (now personally I have Duke on PS3, & although nowhere near earth shattering, I enjoyed the thing), and now Aliens:CM proves that Gearbox are are tad overated.....I mean, even the much praised Borderlands is a somewhat painful experience, with highly annoying, repetitive enemies.
I also bought Aliens:CM, even after I had read several bad reviews.....but, I did see a some good reviews amongst the bad ones, & that was enough for me to buy the game from EB's with the option to return it within there 7 day return policy timeframe, if I didn't like it.....but, I decided to keep the thing, as there are no other Aliens games available, as good as this....simple as that...put some of the old ones on & you'll see my point.
Its not even that serious. The game wasnt gonna sell well regardless if it was good or not. Alien games have always sucked. When i first heard about this game the first thing that came to mind was "this game is gonna suck, why are there even people gettin hyped about it".
