Huh. Interesting numbers to say the least. The 3DS, 360 and PS3 are selling pretty damn well, and the Wii U seems to be hanging on just over the Wii.

Gotta give Animal Crossing credit. It's only out in Japan and yet it made the top five best selling software with worldwide numbers.

Because once people realized that it won't be compatible with the PS4, they need to stock up on an extra PS3 so they can continue to play their PS3 games even if their old ones die. I kid, I kid.

I think the real reason is finally the price of the hardware is at a good price and people have a large selection of games to choose from.

because if you want a games console you should get a PS that offers the most games for gamers to play ( PC excluded ).

MS forgot about the gamer & is more concerned about getting the kiddies & grand parents with their casual Kinect crap.

When it comes to a varied library & a continued support as far as games go you can't beat the PS when it comes to consoles ( pc excluded again, I said consoles).

I own both systems & am just speaking as a gamer. I actually preordered the new GeoW and it's the 1st 360 game I have bought since Halo Reach.

Why are people still buying the Wii? The only reason has to be because of price. The wii is now what like $100 brand new? When Nintendo decides to phase out the wii, maybe WiiU sales will make up some ground

The Wii is extremely cheap and currently has more Mario games than the Wii U. I was working at a small Gamestop over the last holiday season and a lot of people were buying Mario games on the Wii. A LOT of Mario games; from Galaxy to New Super to Party to even some of the sports titles. A lot of these games are cheaper. At the time the Wii U and its games were brand spanking new. It goes to show, price is very influential.

I wonder how much of the higher PS3 sales this year are from Xbox owners buying a second consol. I myself expected to get a 360 at some point this generation but just never felt the need to, not enough enticing exclusives.
