Crysis 3 Review: It has lots of graphics | BitBag

Crysis 3, the latest installment in Crytek’s long running first person shooter series where you run around in a nanosuit that lets you cloak, be impervious to damage, leap strategically placed high walls in a single bound and run like Bolt. One other thing it has, GRAPHICS! And lots of them.

Pretty sad that the only thing anyone can remember from this series is "OMG GRAPHICS"... I have a computer that can run it on max settings (demo at least) like butter but I refuse to buy this game just because I know how bored I'd be once the rope physics and skin pores lose their appeal, not to mention the base game is still designed around the limitations of the current console gen. My advice is to skip it and wait for EA to discount it down to $10 because that's about what the gameplay and story is worth. Aliens and Suits are too generic nowadays and not even worth commenting on.

camel_toad4068d ago (Edited 4068d ago )

The sad part is that technologically speaking it has great graphics but I was actually more impressed with the scenery/graphics in the 7 year old ps3 hardware 720p God of War single player demo than I have been with Crysis 3 in 1080p (highest settings too) running off my pc gaming rig.

Sorry for the run-on sentence ;)

Crytek is all tech.

BanBrother4068d ago

@camel_toad
"Crytek is all tech."

tek = tech? Crytech/Crytek.

Anyway, I agree. Good luck to those who enjoy Crysis. Unfortunately I don't 'get it'. Never really, although I really, really wanted to, as it has epic graphics and I love sci-fi/aliens.

If the game-play was tighter, and they actually had a decent protagonist, with a good story, I think I might be interested again.

I do respect Crytek though for hiring the Darksiders/Vigil games devs.

dredgewalker4068d ago

I agree, after Crysis 2 I would have expected them to do better. Crysis 3 is not much of a game and it's more of a full blown tech demo. I'm just gonna waste money upgrading my pc to play a pretty looking game. Graphics just won't do for me if I don't enjoy playing the game.

BattleAxe4068d ago

PC gamers will remember this game for a long time. They will indeed remember this as the best game on earth because of the GRAPHICs.

TechnicianTed4068d ago (Edited 4068d ago )

No, I will remember X3 on pc for far longer. Because it is a huge game with tons to do and immense re playability, and for the fact that there is nothing else like it on consoles.

That's the game I'll remember.

Skips4068d ago

But people will also remember Killzone for it's solid weighted gameplay, MP, and interesting antagonists.

Same cannot be said for Crysis my friend.

1886afc4068d ago

@sonic yea because you've played, it looks like it plays like all the other crappy kz games.

Skips4067d ago (Edited 4067d ago )

^^^ 1886afc

Well, if SF is anything similar to how Killzone 2 and 3 (more similar to 2 though), then it would have a lot more personality than all 3 Crysis combined. Even the first one.

Lol. Crysis 3 was just like 2. Just a mediocre shooter with great visuals, but with meh gameplay, garbage story, horrible writing, atrocious voice acting, life less characters, horrendous AI, and mediocre multiplayer etc. etc.

Jeeez, at least people care about the Helghast and their back story, and also praised Killzone's (specifically KZ 2) multiplayer and unique weighted gameplay. Not to mention the AI in Killzone 2 and 3 (running on 2006 year old hardware lmao) absolutely curbstomps Crysis' horrendous AI.

Unlike Crysis, people actually like Killzone for things that ACTUALLY MAKE A GAME GOOD. Not just visuals.

Crappy? lol No even close buddy.

classic2004068d ago

LOL PC gamers love teh graphics.

landog4068d ago (Edited 4068d ago )

multiplayer is a blast, my brother and i just put in 4 hours, lol....its after 2 am now, great fun, hunter mode and crash site are amazing

and on pc, with all settings maxed, still getting 50-80 frames (hint for people having low framerates, disable v-sync!! it doesnt tear, but gave me around 20 extra frames!)

it honestly looks better than anything will on next gen consoles, its amazing looking!! Runs smooth, awesome weapons, tons of maps, deep custimization

great game, single player seems pretty cool, but so far only an hour in, but with over 10 hours total in mp, i can say its awesome!!

"it honestly looks better than anything will on next gen consoles"

I must be missing something. Or a lot of somethings. I'll go see a doctor.

pandehz4068d ago

Anyone whining prolly never played them.

Crysis 3 gunplay is so dam smooth and refined. The bow feels right. Every weapon feels great.

The graphics is just a super bonus to such open combat style shootouts.

Drainage4068d ago

the MP is really fun but everyone sucks at it so they quit and go back to n4g to say all it has is graphics

I had no idea that Bad Company 2 was still running, and only now that I know, I want to jump on! 😥

SonyStyled134d ago

I was able to find games in the Vietnam dlc on ps3 the last week. There were articles on here about the server closure when it was announced in April

DaReapa134d ago

BF1943 is the only online MP game that I was genuinely interested in. Been playing since launch 14 years ago. Hate that I couldn't put in as much time to play as I'd hoped for during the final week.

Inverno133d ago

I got really into 43 when I bought Bf3, and preferred it. Everything that I disliked or found annoying about Bf3, wasn't an issue in 43. Too bad they never bothered releasing it on PS4 or PC.

1nsomniac133d ago (Edited 133d ago )

Dead Space 2...... I wasn't even aware that had multiplayer. Nevermind that it was apparently one of their best multiplayers!

anast133d ago

Once people stop buying micros, these companies close the doors.

Xenial133d ago

Dead Space 2 multiplayer had been hanging on for years - I'd boot my PS3 up to see some familiar names in lobbies. This will definitely be missed!

Yep. Wait a couple of years and get this level of performance on a RTX 4070 or 4080 at a much lower price.

Killer73nova1281d ago

And wait a couple more years for rtx 5070 or 5080 at a much much lower price

Yung-T1281d ago (Edited 1281d ago )

That headline is a tad misleading.
The rig stated in that YouTube video is extremely high-end (ryzen 3950x oc, 32gb etc) and utilizing special water-cooling solutions, loops with pumps etc.

This rig easily costs 5k+ and a normal pc with a RTX 3090 wouldn't get close to these framerates or sustainable temperatures.

Aggesan1281d ago

Who has a "normal" pc with a RTX 3090?

Yung-T1281d ago (Edited 1281d ago )

There's still a difference between a high-end GPU+CPU and a custom-made water cooling system including a Waterloop&pumps etc though, it allows for much higher performance due to the better temperature management that would fry the GPU&CPU with normal builds.

lonewolf101281d ago

That's why people need to read the articles, most headlines are just to get you to click.

Rainbowcookie1281d ago

You would think yes, but honestly does it happen often 🤣 enough

I_am_Batman1281d ago (Edited 1281d ago )

Most of the threads of the 3950x were barely utilized and none of the games that were tested allocated more than ~12.5GB of system memory. Gaming at 8k is pretty much as GPU bound as you can get so you won't need a water cooled high-end CPU or 32GB of memory.

Psychotica1281d ago (Edited 1281d ago )

How does the cost of the PC make the headline misleading?

Father__Merrin1281d ago

Mega powerful video card but the games you can play on that card are all available elsewhere. I want to see compelling pc only goty material titles ASAP

Psychotica1281d ago

And where else can you run them in 8K or even in 4K with the same level of performance?

averagejoe261281d ago

Who cares? Nobody has 8k screens and the majority don't even have 4k screens.

This push for pointless high resolution is ruining progress. Give us better framerates, lighting, physics, etc. Stop wasting power on needles 8k.

lonewolf101281d ago

@averagejoe26

There are people with 8k monitors though.

Bender65021281d ago

And still we can't escape 30fps.

JCOLE131951281d ago

I mean given the fact the games are running at 8K it doesn’t surprise me...

MrDead1281d ago

DLSS 2.0 no doubt has a big part in this too, The Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn and Death Stranding run like a dream on my 3080, 4k ultra set to 60fps no drops or stutters and the system runs very quiet. Playing Borderlands 3 on badass settings, Red Dead or Division 2 on 4k ultra all run great (Red Dead has a few drops below 60fps) but my PC is working a lot harder on games that don't utilise DLSS, my room warms up nicely when playing those games.
