Why so much damage control for this game?

jc485734071d ago (Edited 4071d ago )

because MGR (over half a million) just outsold DmC in one week. Do you really expect them to sit around and not do anything about it when they are getting paid to say good things? And plus, Edge gave MGR a 7, while DmC received an 8. This is just a way to stand up for the score they gave and not making themselves a complete ass.

The media has always been fascinated and sympathetic with Ninja Theory. Everybody was mourning the poor sales of Enslaved when it flopped. Now they are doing the same for DmC while raving how great it was. The game was a mediocre game and a bad DMC game. It has flopped, people have moved on and that is the end of it. The NT ball hugging by the media should be over now.

pompombrum4071d ago

Hardly surprising MGR outsold DmC.. doesn't matter what audience you target, Ninjas > Emos .

ChickeyCantor4071d ago (Edited 4071d ago )

@aiBreeze,

Emo? Dante is actually a very well written character compared to the original. His looks aren't "emo". The only reason people call him emo is because of his hair. HIS HAIR...ffs.

The original Dante was nothing but cliche Anime drivel. Nothing but a 1D character. Obviously I'm going to offend the fans with this, but DmC and DmC 2 are both crap games.

Granted I havn't played 3 yet. And 4 is also still on my to-play-list. But after the first 2 games I really wonder if it's even worth it.

Whitefox7894071d ago

@sidar how the hell can you possibly judge Dante as a character when you've only played the first game that was 12 years ago and still had his personality rough in the edges, and DMC2 which was a drastic serious overtone for his personality.

It is with DMC3 (the best entry in the franchise) and DMC4 you truly see the Dante everyone loves. If anyone is truly a one dimensional character its the new Dante with him portraying the whole bad boy personality where he feels like he doesn't need anyone at all even though in reality he truly does.

If you can manage to list things that makes this new Dante breath life into the character feel free to PM me.

Edge is always overly supportive of home grown software.

Edge is a British mag.

NT are British devs...

No coincidence.

DmC was cool, but I preferred MGR:R in everything from dialogue to graphics to gameplay. I liked DmC's level-designing, though.

jc485734071d ago

it's DmC, not DMC dammit.

ThanatosDMC4071d ago

Yup, he can't spell. Also, nothing about gameplay. Mostly about the past games, the story, and a bunch of bullcrap praising Ninja Theory.

StrawberryDiesel4204070d ago

I'm surprised "BTW My Name is Dante" isn't here supporting his favorite game.

This article would have made sense.........10 years down the road.

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC5d ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Exvalos5d ago

What a weird name, it's essentially devil may cry, devil may cry lol

Best to good for me: 3, reboot, 1, 5

2 and 4 are trash, didnt like any of them.
5 has very good gameplay variety but i hated the foes.. it is just insects the whole time. Reboot has the best foes for me

Friendlygamer5d ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya5d ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde5d ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

SeTTriP5d ago

This right here is my order as I thought DMC 5 was amazing and obviously 3 comes after 4 was great and 1 for the nastilgic value it holds 2 was so terrible that my local GameStop gave full refunds to people who returned it.
