Soundtrack Spotlight - "Limelight" (Perfect Dark Zero)

"I don't go to nightclubs terribly often, but I bet I would if more of them played this song, featured in Microsoft and Rare's 2005 Xbox 360 launch title, Perfect Dark Zero.

It's titled "Limelight", and plays within the nightclub during the second mission. It's a bubbly, happy-go-lucky tune that gels nicely into the background and would be right at home in an actual nightclub, even if it had to be one from the 60's. It has this sort of sparkly, elegant radiance to it that leads me to hesitate before calling it an optimistic version of Guile's Theme, since it really could fit into the context of any situation provided it's a positive one. Oh gosh, don't tell me I've started a meme..." (Michael Urban, OnlySP.com)

I had a blast playing this game during the first year of 360.

GameTechZero4064d ago

Hope we see a new Perfect Dark someday. I really enjoyed it as a launch title on the 360 and the N64 version was amazing also.

aviator1894064d ago (Edited 4064d ago )

this franchise has so much potential.
hopefully, a new entry makes its way for the next xbox.

maniacmayhem4064d ago

Underrated title that was actually really fun when it first came out. As said above I hope a new entry comes out soon.

Imagine if Starbucks used this music.

Perfect Dark Zero - Unique Ideas, Flawed Execution

Perfect Dark Zero launched alongside the Xbox 360 back in 2005, to much criticism. 18 years later, is it worth another look?

x_xavier_x145d ago

Perfect Dark Zero was the first game that I purchased for my XBOX 360. I still have the game in my collection. I think I played it for about 45 minutes in total over the past 18 years. It's a really bad game, and I was so disappointed when I first fired it up almost 20 years ago.

zacly145d ago

I had fun with the mutiplayer. Didnt feel like Perfect Dark, but still had some fun with it

Just can't take this list serious when they mention DA:2 and what they said about it.

2BlackBelt1413d ago (Edited 1413d ago )

Parasite Eve
The Bouncer
Dino Crisis
Metal Gear Solid
Silent Hill
Final Fantasy VIII
Croc Legend of the Gobbos
Chrono Trigger
Sonic Adventure
Mario Sunshine

MazeRunner1413d ago

your list is spot on. i always said parasite eve, metal gear solid, dino crisis and silent hill deserve a remake and would make tons of money right now.

Riku071413d ago

Agreed with everything on this list. Glad you mentioned the bouncer. Didn't think anyone remembered that game lol. I Liked that game a lot despite the flaws with it. I can see them remaking it but it really needs to update the battle system and flesh out the story more in the remake.

Perfect Dark Zero. What a horrible follow up to Perfect Dark

kltpzyxm1424d ago

I remember that I bought a 360 mainly for that game, and what a letdown that was.

FlavorLav011424d ago (Edited 1424d ago )

Bought PF:Zero at the 360 launch and thought it was hot trash. That game deflated my desire to see that franchise make a return

Sono4211424d ago

Personally mine is a sequel to literally one of the best games of all time, and this sequel makes the first game mean absolutely nothing, this sequel is better off never being made, the story is just that bad. A huge shame because the developer actually has the best talent in the industry, but it only took a select few to ruin the game.

bouzebbal1424d ago

DMC2
Resident Evil 4
Breath of The Wild

Tekken666341424d ago (Edited 1424d ago )

I thought watch dogs 2 more than perfect dark zero.
at least perfect dark remained the same as it's demo and E3 gameplay.

Ricegum1424d ago

So did Watch Dogs 2. I think you're confusing it with the first Watch Dogs.

pwnmaster30001424d ago

Halo 3( liked it but nothing compare to halo 1/2 so a tad disappointed, multiplayer was the shit )
Any assassin creed after black flag (again liked it but wasn’t as good)
Star ocean 4
The recent mass effect. ( mass effect 1 was only yhe reason I bought a 360 and what made me fall in love with the series)
Ratchet and clank All 4 one if you count that as a sequel
Kill zone shadow fall ( like halo good but wast like 2/3)

-Foxtrot1424d ago

Resident Evil 5

Dead Space 3

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

Nitrowolf21424d ago

I can agree with those.

I kind of want to throw KH3. It was a good game, but for a final part in this first act Saga, I wish it went out with more.

Mafia 3
Perfect Dark Zero

Profchaos1424d ago (Edited 1424d ago )

Mafia 3 was a pretty big disappointment give us awesome characters setting and music only to make you repeat the same racket disruption actions over and over for hours until you get Sal's attention instead of fleshing out the story

It was like far cry camps on steroids and relies to much on fanfare of Mafia 2 by giving vitto such a large unessacery role a cameo is fine but I want to live in the world mafia 3 is building not be reminded how badass vitto was and make it look like he can't take on a gang of thugs at the docks now.

bouzebbal1424d ago

tell me why Dead Space 3 disppointed you? i'm very curious..
i loved it, it improved over DS2 in many ways. Only weakness is lack of monster variety.
The seemless experience with no load screen between chapters, weapons customisations were great additions.

-Foxtrot1423d ago

It was a shit horror game

It went full on action

They added some generic space marine as your buddy, even though they had Ellie

They obviously didn’t learn from Capcom with what they did to RE5 after RE4

The story despite being silly got far too dumb this time round.

You could end up over powered far too quickly

It wasn’t survival horror...you know, what the game is supposed to be.

It’s the worst one in the franchise and hell...it pretty much killed it.

bouzebbal1423d ago

I never saw dead space as a survival horror.. It has always been an action game for me and DS3 was good in that sense.
I would have preferred if it was darker like ds2 though, but I had a blast until the platinum

Sciurus_vulgaris1424d ago

I don’t hate any or these games, but my list would be:

Dead Space 3
Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm
Sly Cooper 3
Perfect Dark Zero (this is technically a prequel)
Gears of War: Judgement (again a prequel)
God of War: Ascension (again a prequel)

ZeekQuattro1424d ago

Mass Effect 3. It was the typical sequel where it looked and played better than the previous entry but it felt like it was missing the charm of the last one. Some of my favorite crew mates were reduced to cameos in 3 and the new ones just weren't as good. The eventual fix they offered did little to rectify it either.

Profchaos1424d ago

Yes so much yes it's in the same level as Andromeda for me it's serviceable but missing what made 2 so special

Manubiggs1423d ago

It has to be Andromeda for me. I have tried many times but can't bring myself to finish it ...I get so bored.
