Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 experiencing multiplayer issues on the Wii U

Activision issued a statement late yesterday evening in order to inform fans that they are aware that several Wii U players are experiencing trouble connecting to the game’s multiplayer and zombie modes on the new Nintendo system. Developer Treyarch also informed fans that they are looking into the issue, stating the following, "We understand that a number of Wii U players are experiencing issues with MP. We’re working to address...stand by for updates."

I was able to connect last night and play, but I noticed on Miiverse alot of people were having issues. I hope Treyarch can figure out the issue quickly.

paul19744070d ago

yeah its down still! defcon 2 as they state! which strangely is about the average connection you get in game 2 bar!!

Shoot in the back ops 2 or laggy ops 2

MasterCornholio4070d ago

Since when does a platform not have any issues with call of duty?

lionxkami4070d ago

this is a set up so Activision wont port the other games to the U. think about it, we don't even have the map packs yet

riverstars864070d ago (Edited 4070d ago )

Who in their right mind would play Black Ops 2 on Wii U? There is no online community compared to PS3 and 360. That's like by buying Madden 07 and playing online. There won't be any map packs for the Wii U, is Activision going to make any money for porting them over? Negative!

dubberman4070d ago (Edited 4070d ago )

There may not be as much of a community but since i've been playing i haven't been insulted once..and the kids on there don't pop up very often. Quality over quantity.
Plus it doesn't help it was a late port. When the next version of COD comes out i can see the communities numbers being in favour of the WiiU. Being able to play with wiimote controls is also a big bonus. If Activision want people to buy their game they need to sell it to them. I'd buy the DLC on it and i know others who would as well.

MNGamer-N4070d ago

I play BO2 off-screen on the gamepad. It is amazing, I love it, regardless of community size. Go and purchase a Wii U before you ask "why".

riverstars864070d ago

I own a Wii U, but there are no games. Thank god for bc, I bought SM Galaxy 2 yesterday, stunning game! Nintendo needs to get a new 3D Mario and a new Zelda with a real controller. Skyward Sword gave me head ache after headache.

As for Black Ops 2, I have it for 360. Trust me, it's a big community trumps off-screen play.

Nevers0ft4070d ago (Edited 4070d ago )

How big does a community have to be to be "big enough" though? I have Blops2 for the Wii U and have never struggled to get a game online... It's not like you're stood there in a barren wasteland with nobody else playing - the game only supports a finite number of players in a single match (I forget how many) and there's certainly enough players online to fulfil that quota many many (many?) times over.

MNGamer-N4070d ago

1.) Wii U is free to play online
2.) Off screen play
3.) No issues finding a match regardless of community size
4.) The players are just as good in terms of skill
5.) Graphics are the same or better
6.) Is a fulfilling COD experience; it's the same game regardless of platform
7.) No sh*t talking asshats
8.) Miiverse Community
9.) 2 players, without split screen
10.) Supporting Nintendo 3rd party games.

All the reasons that I can think of right now. I think the game is just as good or better on Wii U. To me, it does not matter if there are 5,000 or 50,000 playing.

I'm close to my 4th prestige right now. Couldn't have gotten this far without people to play with right?

I agree with everyone here, quality over quantity. Also it's nice not getting hate mail when I dominate once in awhile. WiiU community is friendly indeed.

Xbox $70 billion bet paid out

fr0sty249d ago

Guess that's what happens when there's no good new games to play...

4Sh0w249d ago (Edited 249d ago )

Well regardless of exclusives, or whatever else there is to play on Xbox or ps, CoD has has still been the top selling game on ps platform since forever also.....so no surprise that the most popular game franchise on any console could easily have a revival due to servers coming back online...this is just credit to xbox backwards compatibility & thats good thing for Xbox gamers.

wiz7191249d ago

@Frosty orrrr maybe it’s a breath of fresh air to be able to go back to the peak of the series .. and it’s beem great lol

mkis007249d ago

It's going to take 10 years for xbox to generate that much profit...

Rhythmattic248d ago

Why worry when they have OS, Server and Background Data in their hands...
Gaming is just the small piece, at the top left in a few K piece jigsaw.

EasilyTheBest248d ago

If you buy a house with cash for 1 million dollars you still own the house. Microsoft don't need to make the money back.

Rhythmattic246d ago

But its not money back, its about how it goes missing.

jznrpg249d ago

Shooters is what Xbox people play most of the time and that’s about it by the numbers and sales of games.

shinoff2183249d ago

Atkeast older gamers nostalgia is good. Jeez.

Jin_Sakai249d ago

Mostly because the new CoD games are garbage. The old games were much better.

Rutaprkl248d ago

Agree 100%. Cod 4, WaW, Black ops 1 & 2, those were the days.

Rhythmattic248d ago

For MP, Unreal tournament , QIII Arena (loved the UT mod) FTW!

RaidenBlack248d ago

Unreal Tournament and Quake III were simply amazing ... CoD's and CoD-likes' rise killed the arena shooter popularity ...
Unreal Tournament 2004 is my favorite in the series.
Didn't enjoy Unreal Tournament III, Quake Champions that much.
Too bad Epic cancelled Unreal Tournament 2014 becoz of Fortnite

Rhythmattic248d ago (Edited 248d ago )

I got hooked on the QIII Urban Terror mod (and my work colleagues I introduced them to)... LAN Sessions at the closing of the doors at work, into the night , sinking beers and eating pizza..... Good times.

thesoftware730249d ago

Wow, good games never get old I guess.

CoD will always be a beast of a franchise, and how awesome is it that you can just boot it up or pop it into your Xbox and play, MS BC is really a neat feature.

CrimsonWing69249d ago

Shows you that backwards compatibility is a worthwhile feature.

1Victor248d ago

@crimson:” Shows you that backwards compatibility is a worthwhile feature.”
I agree it’s worthy at the start of the generation when there’s few new generation games but halfway through the generation it’s not a feature.
Now it’s good that this game is finding a renewed life for its fan but it shows a mayor flaw in new games release when a close decade old game is toppling the charts

CrimsonWing69248d ago

I don't know if I understand what you mean. It's a feature regardless of the time into the generation.

Let's take Armored Core 6 for example. Let's say I'm interested in checking out the previous Armored Core games, sure would be nice if I could play them on my current-gen console.

We're about 3 years into current-gen and old games are hitting in the top 5 for sales charts in the month.

I do get where you're coming from with older games possibly being better than the newer games, but the feature stays the feature. I can only speak for myself, but when there's a lull in game releases or nothing great is out, I like to go back to old titles. It's just nice to not have to have a bunch of consoles out to do so.

I think moving forward it'll be less and less of an issue as like with the PS5 you can access most all of the PS4 games, but I like going back to PS1 and PS2. Would be awesome to kind of make backwards compatibility a prioritized feature moving forward. Hell, Sony was the first to implement it.
