ugbear Entertainment, the studio behind the Flatout series and most recently Ridge Racer Unbounded, have released a teaser video for a new game they are working on. Tentatively titled "Next Car Game" they promise "This time we're going back to our roots - just like all of our fans have been asking us to do!"
The footage shows off a destruction derby type scenario, with cars crashing into each other from all angles, debris flying everywhere. It's certainly an impressive demo, one which Bugbear claims is "It's all in-game, real-time footage running on normal hardware."

Wreckfest, an intense vehicular combat game by Bugbear, has leapt into the next-gen with its PS5 upgrade. Newcomers will certainly enjoy the mayhem and chaos it brings to derby racing. However, those who are already familiar with the game might wish to read a review or two before deciding whether the upgrade is worth the price tag.
THQ Nordic has announced the purchase of Coffee Stain Studios (Deep Rock Galactic) and Bugbear (Wreckfest). They have 35 unannounced projects at the moment.
Quality > Quanity
Having this many games in development is just asking for trouble.
I wish THQ Nordic the best of luck. Personally I love their games as they got a bit of quirkiness and doesn't follow most other trends in the gaming industry. Sure, they're not perfect by any means and their games don't scream AAA GOTY, but if anything their games has always been one thing for me personally, and that is fun. I'm excited for Darksiders 3 in the next few weeks as I have it pre-ordered to support them.
Bugbear Entertainment, developers of the highly anticipated Next Car Game, later renamed Wreckfest, have filed for bankruptcy.
Wow that would be awesome if they come up with a Destruction Derby-like game. I had sooo much fun with these games.
looks fun
YES!! this looks awesome! doesnt look next gen though. i really hope to see a next gen destruction derby type game. just imagine how a game like that could look with the power of a next gen console behind it! *drools*
Meh, I was really expecting some improvements over their last 3 games. Their physics engine was ok last gen, but now it looks really dated. The cars are still indestructible boxes with a few parts that fall off.
I was really hoping they would make a next gen game that utilized something like BeamNG's CryEngine 3 soft body physics. Check out some videos and see how dated it makes this video look: http://www.youtube.com/watc...
Also, PC games like Rigs of Rods have been out for years and are light years ahead of the physics shown in this video. I like Bugbear, but their physics have gone from ahead of the competition to well behind, and physics are the most important aspect of their style of crash focused games.
