I agree 2013 is starting out to be the year of the Gamer

The year of the gamer? What makes any other year not 'the year of the gamer?'

Well E3 is looking to be Amazing with two core Console reveals, and who knows how many games, Sony pretty much Doubled down on their commitment to gamers, Nintendo has come full circle and are more gamer focused, Not to mention the tons of high quality games releasing this year from Zelda and God of War to Gears and Last of Us and the new GTA5 and that's just tip of the iceberg....All of that and Microsoft still has to unveil the Next Xbox possibly in April

2013 is looking much better than 2012 and I honestly I can't remember the last time this much gaming activity was going on....maybe in 2006

more like they doubled down on the commitment to developers. Sony themselves can only do so much but its the rest of the industry that makes up the majority of game development.

without a solid commitment from sony in the form of a platform to easily develop for....the gamers would be left with scraps from 3rd parties. it has happened before.

Sony may make good hardware but when it came to game development, they made it difficult to be supportive to a 3rd party that had no exclusive intention towards the platform.

They were basically like nintendo. they would keep all the good tricks to themselves and would only share in exchange for some type of contractual exclusivity.

this time around, they know they cant do that if they want the consumers to embrace their platfrom like they did in the PS1 and PS2 days. It has to be more open and friendly to develop for.

im sure they will still have their own dedicated tricks up their sleeves but at least we wont get complaints from 3rd parties saying we had to do things our own way because we dont understand how to code for it.

The lifeblood of any solid platform is good 3rd party relations.

I was hoping that the DS3 could be used with PS4. Not that it's a huge disappointment but it would have been nice. PS4 is looking great overall though. My question is since it's able to capture in game footage what resolution would that be? Guess we will find out eventually. And bring The Last Guardian to fruition for crying out loud. Been so long now... don't care if it's on PS3 or PS4. Heck even PS2? haha

U know what all this means...they are not telling us yet. If and when down the road they announce emmulation software or remote play, we will all be excited. I think they are waiting to see what to include and the price point as we get closer. Fine with me.

Not surprised one bit about 4K. I'm more surprised that people thought it was possible.

I hope they ship the camera with every console. I hate nonstandard peripherals. It's the reason I never bought the Move. Support is always so low because the install base is low. Now if they shipped it with every system, then every developer could/would take advantage of it.

When I first saw the controller and the light bar I thought they built the Move right into every controller. Has this been confirmed or denied? Because that would be great if they did.

The Bizarre Tale of How Tom Clancy Sold His Name to Videogames

Tom Clancy died in 2013. This may come as a surprise to many players of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, which was released two years after his death in 2015. Clearly, Clancy had very little to do with making the game - so why is his name emblazoned across the packaging?

Nice read!
I recall early 1998 eagerly waiting for Rainbow Six and I too recall wondering who Tom Clancy was.
I did read Hunt for Red October and half attempted to read some of his other books.
I ended up sticking to the games.

iagainsti1202193d ago (Edited 2193d ago )

His Rainbow Six book was my favorite, Hunt for Red October not so much.

I really want another Endwar game. Loved it

I really liked the start of Tom Clancy in games. The realism is what grabbed me, but then over the years it went to a arcade simulation crap mess it is today. Mostly saddened for how they butchered GR.
