Resident Evil 6 Benchmark Officially Released, Capcom Explains Lack Of DX11 Mode

DSOGaming writes: "As we can clearly see, Resident Evil 6 is a DX9.0c game and does not support any DX10 or DX11 features. But why is this happening? After all, we all remember Capcom's previous games that featured support for the latest APIs. So what happened and the Japanese developer has dropped support for both DX10 and Dx11?"

I'll take quicker PC releases anytime over some DX11 features that were added just for the hell of it

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney4073d ago

The real reason is because next gen consoles haven't come yet. When they do all pc games will be dx11 no questions asked.

Plagasx4073d ago

Yea, this is why I can't wait for the new consoles. This means PC ports will have DX11 standard and LOOK a lot better because we're not so much limited on the power of the consoles anymore..at least for the first 2 years.

MontyQ4073d ago (Edited 4073d ago )

so this is a console port with nothing added and well maybe use 2% of my total pc power sweet good ol capcom wait 6 months to release a game on pc with nothing updated graphics wise

lol since this is capcom can we expect DX11 in the form of DLC for extra $$$ lmao, and the dx11 dlc is already on the disk right lol watch it be true.

kevnb4073d ago

who cares, the game sucks on any platform.

pat_patterson4073d ago

agreed. its as mutated as the monsters in the story! last one has some graphics engine from Hell, no idea what they are doing with these games anymore...

this benchmark is a scene with 50+ zombies and a bunch of lines on the models... actual game would be boring snce there's no atmosphere or backgrounds that are remotely interesting

Trenta274073d ago

I did the test for the hell of it. I rocked it. That's not surprising considering any computer made in the past ten years could probably play it...

pat_patterson4073d ago (Edited 4073d ago )

Something is wrong with this benchmark, or possibly older radeon cards in general.

ALL HIGH SETTINGS for whatever the 4870x2 supports on this engine; and VSYNC ON. i7 2600k at 4ghz, 16gb gskill at 1600, ssd 120gb vertex 3 in raid 0. dunno if its my hardware or what..

Using 4870x2, ran this benchmark for maybe 20 mins while AFK; came back to PC, check it out once through getting 60 fps for beginning of part, first 45-60 secs in...

I was AFK for remainder of benchmark, come back and I am pretty much now at 26-30.

Go to settings, change to 1280x800 (somer andom res, in FULLscreen) res, changed ALL settings to LOW..

the FPS STILL SAID THE SAME 24-30fps and WAS UNPLAYABLE and was the same FPS as after I came back from being AFK. remember: it was 60FPS strong, looked great before I left for begining of benchmark 30+ secs in.

If you understand my story here you'll understand something is wrong with this engine and/or radeon cards with it since there is some kind of a FPS lock or engine just becomes unstable or something else???

john24073d ago (Edited 4073d ago )

Keep in mind that this is a stress test. You should pay attention to the score and mark and not to the framerate while benching. In short, if you got an S mark, you will be fine with RE6

Hassassin4073d ago

blame the radeon drivers... I get S rating on 1080p and A on 1440p with a gtx570 (max fps where 80 and 65, min where 32 and 23, respectably).

PedroMarthon4072d ago

The problem is not with the Radeon GPUs, its from the NVIDIA company, they knocked all the AMD users by making the game 100% compatible with NVIDIA GPUs and 20% compatible with AMD Radeon GPUs,so they can sell more products and to lower the priority of the ATI/AMD company.

Yeah I figured it would be ordered like this. For me Leons best game was his debut. RE2.

There Will Never Be Another Resident Evil 6 (And That Sucks)

A rough gem that may never get the proper treatment it deserves.

Terry_B398d ago

^^ I don't want what the author was smoking.

-Foxtrot398d ago

It’s this thing where after enough time people start coming out to defend bad games for some strange reason

I mean hey if you liked it good for you but it was a f****** awful RE game.

Capcom are finally back on track and now people are crying about their shitty mistakes? No thanks.

RpgSama396d ago

I'd take a full blown remake of RE6 based around a GREATLY expanded Leon part and make it even more horror.

That might be something I would be interested in, do not care about any of the other parts of that game.

MadLad396d ago

I couldn't even get through the demo.
Years later I bought it for $3 for PC. I played about 5 minutes into it and uninstalled it.

babadivad396d ago (Edited 396d ago )

RE6 was better than 5. RE6 just took the series to the conclusion that started with 4.

RE4 was the inaugural title in the action game trilogy.

RE9 will be the likely end of the first person psychological thriller trilogy.

They'll switch it up for RE10 or more likely titled RE-X.

hotnickles396d ago

5 is vastly better than 6 imo

TheEnigma313396d ago

RE5 is way better than 6. Stop lying to yourself

FallenAngel1984398d ago (Edited 398d ago )

“But all this is solely with respect to how fans felt back in 2013 when Resident Evil 6 had just been released. The game resulted in the series getting indefinitely killed off until 5 years later when we got Resident Evil 7 and balance was restored yet again. ”

1.) Resident Evil 6 came out in 2012, not 2013

2.) A series getting killed off means no titles at all released in a time period. Silent Hill, Dead Space, Dino Crisis, Parasite Eve & Siren fans would love to see how you can say RE was on the same level of dormancy. In that 5 year time period we had a number of remasters that kept the series alive and kicking. RE1 02ms remaster even broke sales records during the period between RE6 and RE7.

3. Way to disrespect Resident Evil: Revelations 2. It was released during that RE6-RE7 period. It along with its predecessor were mainline titles that kept the horror roots of the series alive in comparison to RE5 and RE6. RE: R1 in particular even introduced the ability to walk and shoot into the series, a feature we can all be grateful for that in modern RE titles. The director RE: R1 later went on to direct RE7 and the director of RE: R2 later went to to direct the RE2 & RE4 remakes.

“Resident Evil 6 is often maligned as the worst entry in the Resident Evil series and is cited as the cause behind the long death of the franchise.”

Titles in the Resident Evil series such as Survivor, Gaiden, Dead Aim, Outbreak, Operation Raccoon City, Umbrella Corps, & Resistance we’re received far worse than RE6.

And death of the franchise?

RE6 was still one of the most commercially successful games in the series, guaranteeing the franchise’s future. Compare how underwhelming sales of Dead Space 3, Silent Hill: Downpour. Alone in the Dark: Illumination, Dino Crisis 3, Fatal Frame: Maiden in Black Water, Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2, and Metroid: Other M which caused their respective series to go into a long period of dormancy without any rereleases to even keep activity up.

RE however still had a significant number of titles released and rereleased after RE6. Not only that but development for RE7 started a short time after its predecessor came out, meaning there was never a development time that the series could be considered dead. There hasn’t been a single year that Capcom stopped either developing, releasing, or rereleasing Resident Evil games. Let’s not act like the 5 year period between RE6 and RE7 is such a longer time compared to the 4 year period between RE4 and RE5 as well as RE7 and RE8. We can pretty much expect RE9 in either 2025 or 2026, and you can be certain that Capcom will still release other RE tiles leading up to it

TheEnigma313396d ago (Edited 396d ago )

Man go some where with this. Only a few like this game. Why would they remake a garbage game no one likes risking money because it won't sell? RE 6 is dumpster drippings, sorry.

MIDGETonSTILTS17396d ago

It wasn’t that good, even if you enjoyed it like me.
