Sorry, Blizzard, We're Calling You The Boob of the PS4 Conference

Bobby thought for sure that when Sony brought Blizzard onto the stage to speak, the company would announce a new ip of some sorts. Bobby's heart was racing, as he hoped to hear of a World of Warcraft 2 or other MMO coming to the PS4. However, that didn't happen at all.

Definitely the biggest disappointment to me.

Godchild10204081d ago

Square Enix was the biggest disappointment for me. At least from Blizzard we got a game announced there and not a "please get excited about e3" announcement.

Kamikaze1354081d ago

Honestly, I'd rather look forward to a new game that might disappoint me (or not) than to an old game that disappointed me.

Blastoise4080d ago

Classic Squeenix. Getting people hyped up over the Final Fantasy name for no reason

Heres hoping they can actually release a game for once that doesn't have lightning in it

iMaim4080d ago

Scumbag Square Enix crashed the party and brought the same present they gave last year.

adorie4080d ago (Edited 4080d ago )

square enix was a total waste of time, when they had begun to show the tech demo, I confirmed to myself that it looked "good running on PS4" then left to fold clothes.

They really had no business there if all they showed was a tech demo and had a guy say to get ready for E3 for any FF news.

I bought a PS3 for Final Fantasy, but all I got were empty promises, dodgy answers, closed door screenings (which end up leaked to us anyway) and focusing on the wrong console.

Square Enix did not deserve the publicity they got from the Sony event, imo

On the other hand, SE has a chance to redeem themselves as a strong Japanese RPG developer.
2013 might be the final year that I givea damn about Square Enix any longer. Balls in their court, always has been, I'm just a masochist when it comes to keeping the hope alive that they will smarten up.

Imikida4080d ago

Blizzard was worse then Square Enix in my opinion. They start with "Blizzard, and Sony are gonna take over the world." They hyped my up for a new promising IP, but instead they tried to cash in on a year old game, that no console players really care about any way. Atleast Square Enix showed an entertaining tech demo.

Kevin ButIer4080d ago

SquareEnix was a total waste of time, at least Blizzard was unexpected and gave me the impresion that we'll see some nice games in the future from them

Seriously!!!... Did Sony fanbase really expect Blizzard to make a exclusive game for the PS4 and leave the PC fanbase hanging ?

What world do you live in ?

If it wasn't the PC fanbase, there would be no Blizzard.

Reverent4080d ago

I don't think that's what anyone assumed... -_-

DarkHeroZX4080d ago (Edited 4080d ago )

calm your tits down, nobody expected Blizzard to announce an exclusive. We where expecting a whole new experience or maybe even Diablo 2 free to play.

Diablo 2>>>>>> Biablo 3

FamilyGuy4080d ago

The expectation was a new game, whether it be multi-console or not a NEW game would have been nice.

This wouldn't mean Blizzard abandoning PC gamers, just releasing whatever it's new thing is onto both a console and pc.

sonic9894080d ago

do you own the company or something
the same thing can be said about sony and square enix .
really childish comment

yeahokchief4080d ago (Edited 4080d ago )

You think they care about their fanbase more than making money?

Have you played one of their games recently?

I'm currently more of a console gamer, but I used to play the shit out of WC3, TFT and WoW (pre casualfest where new content was defeated in months instead of days).

If you think they care about their fans more than making money and being the "highest selling blahblahblah" you are deluded.

They care about their ego and making money. The more money they make, the more ambitious they can be with their next game. They don't give a shit about what you're playing on so long as they sell more copies of it and it runs smooth on cheap hardware so that it's more accessible.

Personally I wish they had stayed off the Ps4. I'm going to remove any of my friends from my circle that I see playing their stuff on the PS4 (if I buy a Ps4).

I just can't stand sellouts. They remind me of the people I helped gear up in old 25mans who took the gear and moved onto some larger guild. Sellouts. Not to say my guilds weren't successful. Nabbed everyone of the Wotlk server firsts and had a pair of glaives prenerfs for what that's worth. But fuck those sellouts and all their new sheep. What made WoW fun was the challenge. Getting your ass handed to you for a good few weeks before moving forward. Then Wotlk comes and bam all the new content is done within the first day on normal. So dumb.

Dark Souls was more challenging than day 1 WoW content. They seem to get it. I have high hopes for future games by FROM especially if they make games on the PS4 and are less limited with playercounts and world sizes etc.

At first I was surprised and excited to see what Blizzard was going to show but then I was disappointed as soon as I heard the music just before the image popped up.

If I had thought back to all the articles we got about Blizzard testing out D3 with a controller then It wouldn't have taken much for me to guess they'd show D3 and something new and amazing.

GraveLord4080d ago

How is it disappointing? Diablo 3 is coming to PS3 and pS4 and so will their future games. Most likely Titan.

RememberThe3574080d ago

I'm with you. I don't get why people are pissed about this at all. It's cool for people who haven't played it, and if you don't like the game then don't buy it for an other system. Why does everyone now days need to be a victim? No one if forcing anyone to buy anything, people need to get over themselves.

We will rule the world...with a game we allready released on PC.

Blackdeath_6634081d ago

yes but think beyond the fact the diablo is coming to ps3/4 its the action that matters the fact that sony has gotten blizzard on board to create console games whether its exclusively for playstation or for all platform (while blizzard did emphasise the partnership between them and sony there was no mention of exclusivity)and i think this is a very positive thing for consoles.

sticky doja4080d ago

Sony did not get Blizzard to create console games. Blizzard has had a working console version of Diablo 3 for months if not years, they have said it themselves on multiple occasions. I would put money on this not being exclusive either. Activision/Blizzard has no desire to alienate Microsoft who have been their bread and butter for years.

GrandTheftZamboni4080d ago (Edited 4080d ago )

Agreed with you. Even though it may be a lackluster showing an existing game, the fact that a PC developer is supporting a console PLUS the fact that the new PS4 architecture is X86 can mean a lot in the future. If PS4 eventually will be able to play existing PC games that could be HUGE.

MasterCornholio4080d ago (Edited 4080d ago )

Game developers who where the money is and if next gen consoles can provide them with an additional source of revenue they will go for it. But i dont understand why some PC gamers are offended by this its not like they are losing support from developers or anything.

jmc88884080d ago (Edited 4080d ago )

No one should be offended when a developer makes a game on another platform. That's silly.

The thing to understand is, that as Blizzard showed nothing, they showed the EXACT same amount of actual PS4 footage that everyone else showed.

The only game that was on a PS4 devkit (and not final hardware) is Killzone, and it looked a bit unimpressive.

Thus an actual final spec PS4 (separate parts floating around in a cardboard box for all I care) is what's important.

All they would do is talk about 'comparable' to a PS4 power, and what they are 'targeting' a PS4 to do. Which means it's all still up in the air and what you saw IS NOT representative of the final product.

Tacklebait4081d ago

I was super excited to see blizzard at first, a few thoughts ran through my mind. Project Titan?? New ip?

and then.. it was Diablo... bah waste of time.

The new "partnership" is good tho, console only gamers have been missing out on some great games.

mamotte4080d ago

It wasnt the worst. At least it was a new announcement about an old game. -Square Enix, cough, cough-

Diablo 4 storefront being a cash grabbing shitshow does unironically attest to that, kudos.

kythlyn6d ago

Microsoft needs to be guiding Blizzard to be what it USED to be, not allowing it to continue to be the greedy bastardization of itself that it has become.

XiNatsuDragnel7d ago (Edited 7d ago )

Okay i will be interested if they become old Blizzard but might as well be dead.

Rynxie6d ago

They will never be old blizzard. Most of all the OG's left from developers to those on the top (even some decision making folks left).

Vits7d ago

Shame most of the people that made Blizzard what they were, have already left a while ago.

ApocalypseShadow7d ago

I was about to say this. How can they be blizzard when they're no longer blizzard from yesteryear?

blacktiger7d ago

Rare was the thing I lost heart

victorMaje6d ago

Exactly. Blizzard hasn’t been Blizzard for a long time.
Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Knightofelemia7d ago

Blizzard is not the same Blizzard like it use to be.

PassNextquestion7d ago

Were you expecting Microsoft to hire everyone that had left Blizzard long before they purchased the company...

Microsoft has let the Blizzard company they purchased continue to be the Blizzard company they purchased.

thesoftware7306d ago

Wow, PassNextquestion,

You fully understand what that saying means, unlike some people on here who just have to say negative garbage talk.

When someone says, "Just let *blank* be *blank*, "they are just letting them operate how they operate.

It's pretty much how Sony "let Bungie be Bungie."

This comment section is full of outright haters, but you have to "let N4G be N4G"

GamerRN6d ago

This site leans so heavily in one direction...

BISHOP-BRASIL6d ago

I don't think people commenting are necessarily blaming MS for anything here, this is just collective longing for what Blizzard/Vivendi was before Activision's meddling.

Former Blizzard President Suggests Players Should Have Option to Tip Developers

Former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra recently suggested an interesting concept that has sparked a debate among gamers - the idea of being able to tip developers after completing a game.

LG_Fox_Brazil10d ago

If I had a 100% way to be sure that this money would go to a fund or a reserve dedicated only to the guys who develop the games, be them designers, artists, programmers and so on, I could think about it.

But we all know that this 'tip' would only end up in a publisher's CEO pocket to buy a new yacht, so, no, I ain't tipping anyone anytime soon on this industry

neutralgamer19929d ago

Exactly these companies were raising money for good causes and gamers were donation and come to find out they are keeping a good chunk of be pie

PapaBop9d ago

Yeah tip your developer, 5% proceeds go to developer, 95% to the publisher or whoever. Isn't tipping for staff not making minimum wage? How about they just pay their developers properly and like you know, give them fair bonuses? Too much to ask from Blizzard these days, Kotick saw to that and is now laughing all the way to the bank.

MrDead9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

It's the t**ts at the top looking at ways to cut devs wages and get the players to tip them like waiting staff, and I'll guarantee a percentage is skimmed and kept by Activision Blizzard. This is 100% for shareholder and CEO playouts.

Popsicle9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

I have to agree with this. On the surface tipping devs sounds like a great idea, but in the end it leads to pay cuts and subsidization of pay. Tips then become an expectation or the devs “can’t make a living.” Lastly, especially in the US, tip culture has gotten out of control, and it serves as an excuse not to properly pay employees. Sounds good but doesn’t end well.

drizzom8d ago

@ Popsicle

I think your right on the nose with how much tipping has become rampant. Instead of it being a relationship directly between the customer and the developer or employee, it now has a middle man ingrained in the system. DoorDash is one example. It ends up becoming a metric where the company can measure 'just how much more money you are willing to part with' before raising the price on the main product.

1Victor9d ago

Uh so they’re trying triple dip or more we buy the game that they’re already withholding/cutting content for dlc we was told that season pass would help the developers thrive we felt for it.
Now on top of all that plus their sales bonus they want tips enough is enough whatever happens to you create/built a good game get a bonus for sales milestones you care about your game and community we reward you with more sales not for doing 3/4 of a game then save the other 1/4 for dlc and passes after

raWfodog9d ago

The 'tip' is me buying your game in the first place.

S2Killinit9d ago

Very well said. If it was possible to send the money to either the developer or some organization for the betterment of gaming, sure. But we all know that will not be the case.

Rynxie9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

No, it would go to those on the top. They will still fire developers, have a bunch of microtransactions, raise prices of games and so on.

H910d ago

So they eventually don't pay their workers and depend on our tips to pay them like the case with waiters!

Deeeeznuuuts9d ago

That kind of practice is only normal in the states, as far as I know anyway, what a backwards system

H99d ago

No it's as well in a every country that wants to amercanize

bloop9d ago

Ireland is literally the first stop across the pond and we don't have a tipping culture. The only establishments here that would expect a tip are the tourist haunts that Americans visit. Other than that, you might tip in a restaurant as a sign of gratitude for great service and waiting staff would be paid a full wage anyway.

Rebel_Scum9d ago

Tipping is not customary iin most countries dude. Get a passport lol.

Jin_Sakai10d ago

Is this a joke? How about the big wigs giving up some of their pay for their hard working developers.

MrBaskerville9d ago

Maybe the CEO could earn his money based on tips.

mastershredder10d ago

good god. The devs are not baristas dude. Total 1% ideals. Fing Chadosaurus.
