Aliens: Colonial Marines review | Thunderbolt

Edward Love, Thunderbolt writes:
It doesn’t take long to tire of Aliens: Colonial Marines. An hour in and your eyes are heavy, your vision cloudy. A long, deep and seemingly overdue yawn is building. As a videogame of 2013, on the cusp of the next generation, it seems astonishingly dated. It’s difficult to imagine it being considered good in 2003. And when a game is so flawed it seems to offend even the console spinning the disc, you’re not overly eager to carry on.

you know what: i as a person do not need 25 reviews of the same game. of course i do not need the nth review of a bad game. but every internetblogger is convinced that HIS review that does nothing else than the other 24 reviews before him matters. let me tell you: it does not.

i wish people would take their egos out of the equation then and when and when there are already tons of badmouthing reviews of a debacle of a game: just review something else. please.

it is not just the case with alien colonial marines, every bigger title gets reviewed to death from every site and their mother. as a person who browses the internet i cannot but wonder if we already reached a limit of the bearable.

it is cleary a problem of overpopulation. overpopulation + not being able to say "okay, makes no sense to beat the already dead horse, i'll find something else" = the bullshit journalism we got nowadays.

The Saboteur - criminally underrated and a fantastic mechanic of bringing colour back to Nazi-occupied Paris.

The article lists Bulletstorm, Sleeping Dogs, and Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Can't argue with any of those really, but I would add Resident Evil Operation Racoon City and Metal Gear Survive to that list. Both terrible games from good franchises.

Bulletstorm, I actually liked the gameplay but the atrocious writing and characters made me despise the game by the end of it.

I still play AvP on PS3 to this day. That game had fun multiplayer too.
