The infamous Gary LaPlante of ContinueEnd.com takes a look at the length of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and asked the all important question: does length matter?
You might not be able to believe this, but Dark Souls is a pretty tricky game on the PlayStation 3.
There are more good non-Kojima Metal Gear games than one would realize. Scientifically, three examples prove a trend, and in this feature are three excellent Metal Gear games that Hideo Kojima did not direct.
I hope so, still cant forget MGS Survive , the first MGS game without Kojima involvement and it was a complete failure, the thing is Kojima way of thinking is outside the box and that's why their games 99% end up unique, original and a almost instant classic. MGS series are full of intricate things that somehows connects to each other, Lalulilelo, the Patriots, Outher heaven, Foxhound, PMCs , heck even Kojima manage to insert DARPA in there lol, a US government Defense Agency. So is really great MGS3 Remake is reviving the series but without Kojima who knows of the end result, I hope Konami have another or more developers insight their studios who can also think outside the box.
i mean sure, but he made it the thing it is today and why people love it so much.
i think its not easy to replicate.
I doubt it could.
Say what you want about the bloke, but his games are uniquely his.
I don't think anyone makes games like kojima does, for better or worse.
Could mgs continue without him, yea maybe, but it would lacking his genius so wouldn't be the same.
Well , he already created it. They just have to recreate it? Not like its a new concept or IP. Trash article.
Demand for a sequel is about to skyrocket, like the good ol' days of 2013!
In case you're living under a suspiciously rock-shaped object, the recent PlayStation Showcase revealed that a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 will be coming, alongside a Master Collection of Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, and 3. While it is a remake of an existing game, there's a great deal of significance to it, considering the last time a game in the series came out was back in 2018 with Metal Gear Survive (and the less said about that, the better). Konami's decision to pull a Konami and feud with series creator Hideo Kojima has long left the fate of Metal Gear uncertain, but this recent announcement has led to all bets being off as to where Metal Gear can go from here.
......that's what she said.
I just find it funny that both releases, Crysis 3 and MGR:R, have short campaigns.
Ill take quality over length any day. As long as the game has polish and awsome controls I'm sold.
I can either have 5 to 6 amazing hours of gameplay or 50 hours of drawn out gameplay. I will take the 5 to 6 hours of amazing gameplay anyday, so long as there is replay ability. If a long game meant it was good than everyone should just love FF13, that game had tutorials up to Chapter 10 and didn't truly start up until Chapter 11. It's nice when we can have both, but if it is one or the other than I choose the amazing short experience.
Some games are not worth $60. I think games like MGR should take a look at pricing and come up with a reasonable price.
Sly 4 is only $40 and comes with a digital PSV copy. That's an incredible value at that price. The game is designed to be replayable and is full of exploration and collectables. $40 is very generous.
Platinum just released a game that was also not a $60 title in Anarchy Reigns. It makes a game of that type much more attractive.
This type of pricing takes care of the quality over quantity cliche you hear whenever a criminally short $60 game is released. 5 hours of amazing over some inflated number of mediocre...as if other short games that are of high quality don't figure out good ways to extend playtime. Take MGS4, for example. It's a 5 hour game as well...if you run and gun play it like Gears or something. But I've spent at least 3 hours on a single mission trying to play the game as intended.
Good games figure out a way to keep you coming back, and stripped down VR missions won't cut it.
@ the author of this article. Adam Sessler's take on this subject is that a relatively short title like Uncharted 3 should be a $40 because the campaign was decent but crippled by the multiplayer and that the multiplayer is awful. He also says the game itself is a quick cash-in because of the "short" 2 year dev cycle.
