Pachter explains Wii U “mistake” comment

VG247: ''Industry analyst Michael Pachter has clarified comments from earlier in the week about the Wii U and 3DS, arguing that poor hardware sales will keep software sales low, leading to tough times for the big N.''

Root4077d ago

Hear that guys...it's the sound of Pachter tearing up the ground.....digging himself into a bigger hole

Outside_ofthe_Box4077d ago (Edited 4077d ago )

***Pachter: "If I’m wrong, I’ll admit it"***

lol

We'll see about that.

darthv724077d ago

EVERYTHING is taken out of context. That is a requirement when making any kind of public statement.

you have to do it in a way where you know it will be cherry picked and re-posted to twist things around.

MadMen4077d ago (Edited 4077d ago )

"Hear that guys" your system sales suck?

Do not be in denial, Their figures are weak

The Wii U is a failure by all accounts - well talk again I am sure when the next Nintendo sales figures post.

Trenta274077d ago

You realize that these are almost the exact same figures for when the 360 launched, right? It was pretty weak but it picked up. Give it time.

Not to take sides, but, you should read this

MadMen4077d ago

@Trenta

I am with ya on that, however; those weren't good for 360 either not to mention 360 brought a previous crowd with them by cancelling their previous system, Nintendo still has the cheap and very solid Wii out.

PopRocks3594077d ago (Edited 4077d ago )

So you admit that the sales figures were initially bad for the 360... but only call the Wii U a "failure by all accounts" when it's in the same boat?

That doesn't make a lick of sense. Exactly what crystal ball do you have telling you that sales can't pick up for the Wii U later on the way they did for the 360?

Ck1x4077d ago

Just what world needs, more Pachter face-time...

LOL_WUT4077d ago

“I have spoken to several publishers who are skeptical, and I think that the Wii U will see a lower level of third party support than the Wii did, unless sales materially improve."

I don't see whats wrong with the guy he has more knowledge of whats going on in the gaming business than you. ;)

Ck1x4077d ago

He's back tracking is what we would like to call it... Stating the obvious does not equal industry inside info. This guy is the laughing stock of the industry and wasn't it just last week during the Bonus Round. When one guy on the panel said "Oh we refer to that as making a Pachter!" This guy says blatant things to make headlines and then tries to clean them up by stating "if the WiiU sales increase then 3rd party games will increase." How is that suddenly a brilliant observation of the current WiiU status?

BanBrother4077d ago

Damn, I guess we were all wrong. If Patcher says so, then the Wii U WILL succeed :)

Quality over Quantity.

stragomccloud4077d ago

Just like the PS3 in it's budding years. Quality over quantity.

I'm really glad I got a Wii U~

ozzywazzy4077d ago

That's a lot of question marks there chief. Aliens? C'mon boss.

It seems like your grasping at straws to come up with a decent quantity to be honest let alone quality.

jimbobwahey4077d ago

Nice list of wild guesses, wishes and assumptions pulled out of thin air!

As for the rest, the vast majority have no release dates and probably won't even be out this year. I mean when your biggest game is a GameCube port and that's all you really have to tide your customers over for the year, you're in trouble I think.

Also, classifying the Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines as 'the real version' when it's the same game with nothing extra save for a touchpad gimmick (according to the actual QA testers who've played it) is really clutching at straws.

jagstatboy4077d ago

You're really reaching on some of those. Miyamoto said he was eager to see Star Fox come to the Wii U but that's hardly an announcement.

Also, Monolith is reportedly working on a Wii U title but there's been no indication that it's Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

CaptainN4076d ago (Edited 4076d ago )

So the demo of (X) with the same exact battle system and a picture of Shulk at the end isn't a indication of Xenoblade 2 ????

porkChop4077d ago

A lot of those games aren't even announced. You're reaching. And some of them have been confirmed to NOT be releasing on the Wii U, such as Destiny and Watch Dogs. There have also been insider reports that the Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines is not only the worst version, littered with technical problems, but also that it's been postponed indefinitely.

When you have to make up a list filled with fake games that should tell you that there's a problem.

gamer424077d ago (Edited 4077d ago )

Umm, unless I you give me a source for watch dogs and Destiny not coming for the wiiu, I have to disagree. Because I do not remember an article anywhere having ubisoft or bungie stating that it isn't. They haven't even stated anything at all. Also if your "insider report" for the aliens game is that game tester, what makes him so reliable. Did we forget that people can lie? Personally I believe that the wiiu aliens game will be somewhat better graphically since it isn't developed by gearbox and has more time to be develop, but be just as bad in terms of story.

Shnazzyone4076d ago (Edited 4076d ago )

It's kindof unsurprising Wii U is selling poorly, the system's current games are kinda dry right now. It will be sellin good once all those games start coming out. On that list I see at least 10 games I'd consider system sellers.

When the software comes, the system will sell.

Why is this Hard for people? lol. Remember those "PS3 has no games" memes back in '06-'08? Then after Metal Gear Solid 4, everyone shut up about it.

No, the Wii U is not Worth getting right now, and it sucks for us early adopters, But once the Mario Kart, and the 3D Mario game come out, systems will start being moved, and it will be less a discussion of sales, but more about games this gen.

How long until they get sued and it gets taken down? I say a month or 2

PRIMORDUS23h ago

Sued for what? It's just an emulator no ROMs are with it. ROMs are easy to get anyway, but with iPhone you can't just copy and paste like Android unless it's jail broken I think. Anyway Nintendo should be more concerned with their ROMs up to torrent for years for all of their concoles, but then again they can't do nothing about it, they never will and I love it. 🤣

NotoriousWhiz21h ago

As long as it isn't emulating the Switch, it'll be fine.

RonnySins21h ago

Naaah! Don't want to waste time emulating on iPhone.

Knightofelemia20h ago

Won't belong before Nintendo bangs on Apple's door to have the emu removed. Like I say you take down one six more take it's place. Problem is people are putting emu's on such stupid platforms. The good emus are the ones not on stupid platforms like a red target. The good emu's are word of mouth and keep a low profile.
