Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 developer shows support of Bungie’s next game, Destiny

Treyarch Studios, developer of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2,” has publicly given their support to Bungie’s upcoming shooter, ‘Destiny,’ by openly the congratulating them on the game’s official reveal earlier today. Perhaps this is Treyarch extending their hand to Bungie, who are now working with Activision (the same publisher as Treyarch’s popular “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’” game). Nonetheless, when the makers of the world’s biggest selling gaming franchise take notice of an upcoming game, it is quite a decent recognition to receive.

Treyarchs probably thinking

"One of Us, One of Us, One of Us"

I love Bungie but out of all the people to go with....Activision.....urgh

Activision was the only Publisher that would let bungie keep the rights to their IP. That's the only reason they went with them. This was in an interview last year.

That's crazy that Acti would have allowed such a thing.

ravinash4075d ago

Yes, but with the reputation that Bungie has with Halo etc, I'm sure it was too good an opportunity to pass up for Activision... even if they did have to allow them to keep the rights to the IP.

Activision knows they can't use CoD alone every year anymore. They saw Bungie and instantly knew it would save them in the future.

Hopefully Kotick keeps his nose out of the devs and let them do their thing. Also hope he doesn't kick the devs to the curb like he did to the original Infinity Ward after they release a successful game.

Some odd reason I can see Treyarch making the map pack sequels to whatever Bungie releases.

I'm not impressed by Bungie's "Vidocs" anymore. The idea that watching department heads sitting around waxing philosophical amidst cutaways of concept art and behind-the-scenes footage would actually get me excited about their new IP is INSULTING to my intelligence.

Somebody needs to get Bungie the memo: it's 2013. Show us some ACTUAL GAMEPLAY (more than two seconds of running up some steps) before you have the audacity to prod me to pre-order your shit, at the very least.

It's a reveal, not a launch trailer.

i agree to some extent. they created this whole press conference and created hype to tell us precisely nothing. there is so much confusion surrounding the game and the cause of it is that they didn't show the press any gameplay or give them any information either. the game has been in development for years you would expect them to provide some gameplay footage even if it wasn't playable even if it was press only and didn't allow anyone else to see it but not they didn't atleast tell us what the game is for goodness sake. you can tell by all the mixed reports from different new sites so in the end we know less about destiny than we did before they had this reveal event. it seems to me the devs are letting their ideas run wild and dont have anything set in stone. i doubt the devs them selves no exactly what the game is

The whole "my body is ready" thing in the vidocs disgusted me. Also, the "how can anything be bigger than Halo?" comment is a sad outdated notion. I will wait for actual gameplay before being put off, but nothing they have shown so far is all that special. If the Alien's controversy teaches us anything, it's always wait until public gameplay footage is available before being excited because a "credible" studio is making a game.

Yeah Bungie is very full of themselves. I mean just look at their comments about PC. They basically said that Halo changed the entire industry and now no one wants to play with a m&kb. That's fucking stupid.

What they did was find a way to create a good FPS while working around the controls and limitations of consoles. That's great for console games, but that means nothing for PC games. They haven't negated the usefulness of m&kb, nor have they changed the way people play PC games. They're completely delusional.

They've got their heads shoved so far up their asses. Halo is big, yes it is. But it isn't the biggest IP in gaming, and it never was. It's also much less relevant than it used to be. And if anything, with Halo 4, 343 Industries has shown that Halo can not only survive without Bungie, but also that Bungie was Halo's biggest obstacle.

It's become increasingly clear that while Bungie knows how to create great universes rich with potential, Bungie also has no idea what to do with them. They completely mishandled Halo, and them leaving it behind is the best thing that ever happened to that franchise.

Treyarch is being nice so they can feed off of Bungies ideas like they did to infinity ward

kevnb4075d ago (Edited 4075d ago )

all bungie has done so far is tell everyone they are great and playing on pc sucks. I think activision knows this will have big day one sales, but die off quickly. Thats why they are letting bungie keep the ip.
