Police Believe Sandy Hook Shooting Was An 'Emulation' of Video Game Scenario

Anthony Accinelli of RealSG writes, "Now the police are looking into whether Adam Lanza was emulating a video game scenario while he massacred innocent kids. I've never read such bullshit in my life."

AvidGamerrrr4078d ago

Couldn't agree more with Anthony here. This shit is getting old.

knifefight4077d ago

Seriously. And what game was he emulating, exactly?
That indie game about the Columbine Massacre? Because...
1) That wasn't a studio-published title, and
2) Um, that actually happened. It was a real-life event before it was a video game. Uh oh, which came first, the chicken or the egg? Oh wait, it's not that hard, actually. The real life thing came first and was played over and over again on the news non-stop. The American news networks may as well buy billboard advertising space that says "Want to be famous and do you hate your life? Shoot up a school. We'll talk about you for years." Freaking idiots.

these are the same people that think going to war is respectable. then those soldiers come back all kinds of fucked up.

you don't get PTSD and murder your whole family after playing Halo for a few months. can't really say the same thing about going to Afghanistan or Iraq.

we don't have a video game problem. we don't have a gun problem. we have a glorifying war problem.

muttley654077d ago

in 2007-8 there was a report kid in ATLANTA under Custody in court manage to lift the sheriff gun shot him,the judge, most of the jury. after being pin down he claim he was playing CALL OF DUTY....

LightofDarkness4077d ago

Exactly spy. The problem is the common perception that the hero hurts the bad guys. What happens when someone has trouble identifying the bad guys, or simply has a different definition of bad guys? Or, in the case of our traumatised vets, when there aren't anymore bad guys (at least not ones you were trained to fight)?

kneon4077d ago

@TheRealSpy

There is such thing as a justifiable war, but it's been so long since we've seen such a war that I understand why people don't see going to war as respectable.

I just amazing how stupid people can be. I anyone with a brain would know games aren't the problem.

JedMan19854077d ago

I knew they would make games for the cause.

subtenko4077d ago (Edited 4077d ago )

I think he emulates whats on the news or the police themselves, plus tv. Everyone's seen the show COPS. I blame TV including the news. So :P

P.S. this is more annoying than Jack Thompson now...I bet even he is shaking his head at all these headlines saying "Man these people are kind of dumb.."

kenshiro1004077d ago

Wow, I've played videogames for a long time and never did I feel the urge to kill a bunch of people or beat someone up.

This kid was straight up crazy and should have received proper treatment.

JoGam4077d ago

Exactly, if anything videos games relax me. After a long days work to go home grab a brew and pop in a game is fucking awesome.

DeadlyFire4077d ago

No evidence = video games did it.

Did I eat your cake? No. Fat Princess trained me to eat that damn cake.

Did I step on that mushroom in your yard. Your damn right I did. Mario taught me all mushrooms I step on make me grow.

Tonester9254077d ago

Did they ever blame the horrible parenting job in America yet? lol

Mounce4077d ago

Police believe a lot of things....people should have a right to tell them their Belief are as wrong as Atheists have a right to tell Christians that they believe them to be wrong.

Instead its like, Police/Politicians believe games are to blame....You want to tell us that we're wrong? We'll ignore you! You're probably in the wrong and we're in the right, and besides, your testimonies won't give us any money!

Police believe that they're not going to say it was aliens - but it was Gamers.

He was a sick in the Head POS, nothing else made him do it. It wasn't the Gun, Movies, or Games it was his own twisted mind.

I own guns and play violent games, I have never wanted to take them and hurt anyone. I don't even hunt with them they are for personal protection.

We have millions of people walking around that 20+ years ago would have been locked up in a mental home but now with Doctors just giving these people a pill and saying they are cured and safe to be with normal people are the problems.

kingPoS4077d ago (Edited 4077d ago )

It's a sad truth that big pharma hardly ever get their share of the blame. The more important questions that should be asked rarely come up.

The media tasked with finding out what happened seems to avoid asking whether or not he was on any kind of hard medication. Instead they look into his video game preference.

WTF?!?!

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney4077d ago (Edited 4077d ago )

There may be some truth to this! I was playing guitar hero and for that whole month I thought I was a Rockstar! So I go on my pc and tried to program my own version of gta5 and then gave up after 5 mins.

My finding is that guitar hero make me lazy and something has to be done about this!

Karpetburnz4077d ago

You would have to be a complete nutter to start shooting people just because it happens in a game.

knifefight4077d ago

I hear most video games are programmed with computers, and initial communication about them is done via the internet.

Welp, sounds like we need to ban computers and internet. Gotta stop the flow of games, man!

Golden Axe is a great game I enjoyed it on the SMS, Genesis and in the arcade. Great game but it truly was a quarter eater back in the day. I wish Sega could get the rights to the arcade port of Moonwalker another great arcade game I enjoyed. Collect so many monkeys and become Robo Michael lol.

It was worrisome to begin with.

It's a niche genre with only a handful of hits that can stand the test of time.

Cacabunga1d 10h ago

I like the sound of that!! I will for sure never support these gaas games.
Sony must be shocked at gamer's reaction, making them cancel a few of these and hopefully go back to the good heavy hitters they had us used to..
now bring on that PSPro reveal and show us some SP 1st party awesomeness.

CrimsonWing692d ago

What’s to be unsure of!? Look at the ratio of success to failure!

DarXyde1d 13h ago

It's pretty ridiculous.

Imagine having a breadth of data at your disposal to see the statistically low success rate of these games, only to be laser focused on the exceptional case studies.

shinoff21832d ago

Yes. Stop all the live service bs.

jznrpg2d ago

Only a few will catch on. You need a perfect storm to be successful in GaaS and a bit of luck on top of that. But a potential cash cow will keep them trying and some will go out of business because of it.

MIDGETonSTILTS172d ago

Helldivers 2 manages just fine…

Keep production costs low… don’t just make custscenes until the mechanics and enemies are perfected first.

Make so much content that you can drip extra content for years, and the game already feels complete without them.

Most importantly: make weapons, enemies, levels, and mechanics that will stand the test of 1000 hours. This might require more devs embracing procedurally generated leveled, which I think separates Helldivers 2 from Destiny’s repetitiveness.
