Dead or Alive 5 ‘Fighter Pack’ DLC Footage Revealed

Tecmo Koei Europe will soon be bringing another selection of downloadable content (DLC) to Dead or Alive 5, and in anticipation the publisher has revealed two new videos showcasing the DLC in action. The Dead or Alive 5 ‘Fighter Pack’ will be made available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this month.

Officially the most broken fighting game i've ever encountered which charges £5 for 3-4 costumes that other players cannot see unless they own the DLC themselves...

SOD_Delta4076d ago

I wouldn't call a game broken because of that. Sure, it's awkward you don't see the same thing the other player sees. That doesn't mean it's broken by any means.

caseh4076d ago (Edited 4076d ago )

The actual fighting system is broken to f*ck. Moves which force tech standup and leave you open to combos which are easily recycled when it breaks down, ground grabs which can't be broken which give Mila, Tina, Bass and Bayman free damage on untechable knockdowns. Staggers/stuns which can't be shaken so you can't block 90% of the time if you get hit by a move that isn't a natural combo etc etc

I could go on and thats just scraping the surface. Don't get me wrong, its fun to some extent until you encounter players who consistenly use all of the above gimmicks. As far as a balanced fighter goes, DOA5 is far, far behind anything else, even SC5 and thats saying something.

But with the DLC, most people buy costmes as they want them to be seen by others online, defeats the object.

Snookies124076d ago

Agreed, the game itself isn't broken. Just the DLC practices, which are horrid for it. I plan on picking this up soon, but they are just wrecking people's wallets with this unfairly priced DLC.

SOD_Delta4076d ago

@caseh I suppose if I ever encountered those problems I'd feel the same way, But I haven't and I've played around 500 online matches. I think the game is quite balanced and easy to pick up. Which I can't say about most fighters. All in all I've enjoyed my time with DoA 5 and the costume DLC doesn't bother me one bit.

skyrimer4076d ago

Game could be better, still the triangle system allows to counter most situations in some way or another, so I wouldn't call the game broken at all. I prefer DOA a million times better than TTT2's 1 minute long touch of death combos, that's boring and infuriating as f*ck.

Baka-akaB4076d ago

The game is hardly broken . Neither was SC5 as you hint , even if not the most balanced game , for certain .

Problematic characters were for the most part nerfed in sc5 with the patches , some others boosted , and it was mostly cries from people not willing to learn match ups to begin with .

As for DOA 5 given how important and vital it is for the grabbers , i'm ok with free grabs on untechable ko's . Their usual throws are seen miles afar and easily broken .

As for the stun/staggers states , asides from stuff like limbo stun, sit down stun you can still reduce stun times and counter

shadowraiden4076d ago

ha game broken only people who cant play the game say that.

kingPoS4076d ago (Edited 4076d ago )

Earned custom outfits or paid outfits... hmmm
Deja Vu!
Man I could've sworn this happened before in 2010 with...

iMaim4076d ago

This will sell. Really it will.

VTKC4076d ago

I can see this pack would work if it were the girls wearing only shorts and gloves. But the guys? hhmm I doubt it.
What they are wearing reminds me the beginning of the movie Enter the Dragon. Where Bruce lee faces Sammo Hung in a friendly fight.

Jag-T10004076d ago

I'm gonna pass on this DLC. No women outfits.

Dead or Alive 5 - 10 Years of Free-to-Play

Dead or Alive 5 debuted 10 years ago today, ushering in a new era of AAA free-to-play gaming which has since become commonplace.

Glemt569d ago

I really wish "free-to-play" got a different name. Because, yeah, you can play (part of) the game for free, but then they hypercharge you for DLC. Nearly 1000 credits to get all the DLC? Damn.

neutralgamer1992569d ago

Exactly give me a complete bundle

MadLad569d ago

You get the fighting game.
They make you pay for the bikinis and booty shorts.

ApocalypseShadow569d ago

Worse decision ever for the gamer. Over emphasis on fan service nonsense and micro transactions than making a great fighting game.

Use to love the game as a Virtual Fighter offshoot and competitor to VF and Tekken. Won't touch this current incarnation with a 10 foot pole. You know there was something wrong when they tried to charge for hair color.

spicelicka569d ago

I wish it wouldn't be called "fan service" anymore. It's of service to no one, it's just exploiting our perverted nature blatantly, but then again people who fall for it can't really complain.

MadLad569d ago

Exactly.
People complain about the dlc, but you get the actual game.
You're paying to look at their bodies.

Silly gameAr569d ago

I have no problem whatsoever with the fanservice. My problem was the endless, expensive packs of pointless costumes that people loved to buy apparently.

lucian229569d ago

Don't be a cry baby. Go play another game if you don't like fan service. Not every game needs to be woke trash.

DOA only fell because of overpriced dlc

Silly gameAr569d ago

Not every comment needs to bring up woke when there is no wokeness going on. I wish they would ban the word woke from the face of the planet.

lucian229567d ago (Edited 567d ago )

You sound "woke" yourself, crying and wanting more cancel culture. That's the problem with you people, you don't like something and just want to cancel it.

Woke is now a day a synonym for social justice Warrior. It's people who cry that something is offensive and use cancel culture to destroy something they don't like...... Sorry but it applies when people complain about boobs

isarai569d ago (Edited 569d ago )

Do people really not realize there was a full release of this game? I've seen this pop up a few times and it always baffles me that people talk as if DOA5 was only F2P. I still have the Last Round disc that includes all characters, maps and most outfits

HeliosHex569d ago

Truly the best in the series. If you only want one DOA this is the one to get right here.

Did Jonathan Holmes just say that the DOA games promote beating of women?

I (Robin Ek, TGG) was just informed that it appears as if Jonathan Holmes (writer for Nintendo Force and Destructoid) have stated that the DOA series promotes beating of women. So, here's my take on the matter.

SaveFerris2603d ago

Oh my days! That journalist must be constantly triggered by fighting games, but then I don't understand why he just doesn't quit if he can't handle the scripted actions of pixels.

TGG_overlord2603d ago

I would also like that add that real-life female fighters can take perfectly care of themselves inside and outside of the ring.

SaveFerris2602d ago

Absolutely. There are lots of women who take part in contact sports willingly because they enjoy it, and not just martial arts, but also rugby and rugby league.

naruga2602d ago (Edited 2602d ago )

destructoid ....a bunch of tragic people trying to relate themslves with gaming ....go close yourselves

Eonjay2602d ago

Even if he did say it, why should we be triggered?

Simon_the_sorcerer2602d ago

@SaveFerris " That journalist must be constantly triggered by fighting games"

Try searching for his name + this:

TGG_overlord2602d ago

@SaveFerris

"Absolutely. There are lots of women who take part in contact sports willingly because they enjoy it, and not just martial arts, but also rugby and rugby league."

- Yep, I like American Football more than Rugby though ;)

Simon_the_sorcerer2602d ago

I honestly like to watch female soccer more than the male version, as they tend to whine less when they get tackled and whatnot.

GrimReaperGamer2602d ago

Jonathan Holmes is a liberal snowflake. Quick Mr. Holmes aka Captain No Manhood call on the developers of DOA to make a safe space in game for these women. The amount of mentally unstable people on earth is hilarious, but also extremely scary at the same time.

TGG_overlord2602d ago (Edited 2602d ago )

@GrimReaperGamer "Jonathan Holmes is a liberal snowflake"

- That is correct. Nevertheless, I had no idea who that guy was at first though. However, the more I read and heard about him, the more I started to realize that his indeed a hardcore liberal snowflake.

"The amount of mentally unstable people on earth is hilarious, but also extremely scary at the same time."

- At first I thought that he was just fooling around, but his pretty dead serious about what he thinks and says...

Simon_the_sorcerer2602d ago

Ah, that "Holmes"...Then I get his rather stupid statement (s).

TGG_overlord2602d ago

That's the one, yes...I've been listening to some of his other interviews, and his like a more hardcore SJW version of Jack Thompson (imo).

annoyedgamer2602d ago

BUHAHA

Don't include women in fighting/shooting games = sexist because women are equal

Put women in = sexist because it promotes domestic violence

ShaunCameron2602d ago

Feminists and their enablers don't know what they want.

Atomicjuicer2602d ago

They just want to bitch and moan. Best ignored basically.
