GenGAME writes: "Now that the Wii U launch has come and gone, and the extent of the system’s loss of momentum in 2013 is finally visible, I think it’s safe to say that Nintendo Land was no Wii Sports successor. The game failed to drive sales in any way that even remotely resembled the Wii Sports phenomenon."
Nintendo will be shutting down the eShop for the 3DS and Wii U completely in 2023. Makes sure to check out these games before they do.
If they're not important enough to be held on their own official storefront then they're not important enough to give your money to Nintendo.
Buy these, physically, used or simply emulate them.
This article comes off as nothing more than advertising games that Nintendo, themselves, don't care to offer you... buy now!
Wait hang on where all the outrage? I swear when Sony tried to do this with PS3 last year. There was outrage from all corners of the gaming universe.
Why does no one care Nintendo is doing it?
It's lame that it is shutting down. Now I feel rushed buying all the rpgs I missed out on the system.
You guys know that even archive.org has 3DS roms, and all other console roms. I'm downloading 846GB of 3DS roms and will add the best games to my soon to be soft modded New 3DS 😁. Might as well throw in DS and other emulators in there to. Guys this would be the best way to play and enjoy the 3DS. Just need to buy a bigger micro SD card and format it to FAT32, which you can if it's even 256GB or larger there are ways.
The Switch just isn't equipped for a killer sports title like the Wii was
A lot of the points made here are true, yet let's give it a chance, because like the author said, the Wii was a motion control console and everyone did view it as such while the switch is not, so the way people view the game determines how much they invested in it, so again let's give it a chance and see
Wii sports was truly atrocious and you're saying Switch Sports will be even worse? It does not bode well for Switch Sports indeed.
Wii Sports was ok for screwing around, but the games lacked depth. Also I'm not sure why it seems like they decided to stick with the automatic player movement so all you need to do is swing to hit something. Very noob friendly but not as much fun IMO.
Wii Sports was THE game for casuals. I don’t feel many casuals own the Switch. I can’t see this doing the numbers Wii Sports did.
Course it won't, the Wii was a phenomenon. Something new with the motion tech. A curiosity to almost everyone. Obviously Switch sports won't create the same impact.
Nintendo could be sitting on a gold mine with a past favorite.
Because we all miss accidentally throwing our Wiimotes at the TV, so let's throw some Joy-Cons.
I was always confused by Nintendo’s decision to kill the franchise. “Super” stayed with Mario titles even after the Super Nintendo. They can still use the Wii name. Hell it’s been so long that releasing a new one, or even an HD remaster, will tap into that nostalgia market.
Yeah i agree but i don't think Nintendo will be bringing wii sports to the Nintendo Switch samething goes for diddykong racing
Nintendo Land is a great game, but from a business perspective, yeah, it's not doing it's job.
Wii Sports launched with the Wii as a sort of "Look at this! This is the kind of stuff the Wii has to offer" game, and people just GOT it. It clicked.
Nintendo Land does the same thing, showing off lots of fun ways to use the fancy new GamePad, but it's not drawing as much attention. It's arguably a better game, but it's not making the purpose of the system sink in with most people.
Nintendoland will never be as viral as Wii Sports--it's not included with EVERY system sold. That said, it's not a killer app by any stretch of the imagination, and many of the "attractions" have little appeal.
Wii Sports was a far simpler endeavor. Smaller in scope, smaller in ambition and because people don't talk about the gamepad in the same context as the Wiimote, there wasn't much of a chance of people being as largely wowed by the console.
That all said I think Nintendo Land is a vastly superior game, and it's a shame that many of the people who played and enjoyed Wii Sports may not even experience it.
Would have been nice if at least ONE of the two games had online play though.
Nintendo needs to release Wii U Sports.
wii sport did.
i dont think i will buy nintendo land if i get a wiiu.
