Based on earlier comments from a game tester, the Wii U version is the worst version, but if this is true and the Wii U version was indeed the demo we seen back in e3, then that would be fantastic! I highly doubt it but then again who knows... Here's hoping that this speculation is true.

I honestly wouldn't know how to react if it was true... On one hand I would be totally excited for the simple fact that I own a Wii U along with a PS3, 360 and PC; on the other hand, I would be disgusted with the fact that the game was terrible on the rest of the consoles and PC. I agree that if true it would be BS on both Sega and Gearbox. Then again it wouldn't be the first time Sega pulled a stunt like this. The most recent game that comes to mind is Bayonetta on the PS3, which was almost like a different game compared to the 360 version.

Like I said I doubt it but then again, it would make sense as to where the demo footage came from.

Gearbox, aka Randy, had been hyping the Wii U up way before it launched by a lot...I mean they were the number 1 developer to stick up for the Wii U and praise it contenstantly and the Wii U version of Aliens CM. If it is the worst version then at least we know why they had being doing that....so it would sell more despite being the worst version.

On the other hand if it's the best version then they are going to have to answer to the PS3/360/PC audiences who have been screwed over. I mean they wouldn't look good would they, praising the Wii U and that version then all of a sudden that game getting the best version by a BIG difference....it would seem too suspicious in my opinion

I'd have to agree. I understand having slightly inconsistent performance between versions, but for some versions to be broken enough for people to outright hate the game and for one version to be praiseworthy makes no sense.

Razor's Edge was one thing, that was an updated version of the original game that was released later. This game and its versions were all made at the same time. It's ridiculous and should not have been allowed to happen.

That all said, I am at least relieved that there is a chance the Wii U version will be better (certainly has me giving Demiurge a thumbs up). It was the version I intended to try out to begin with. If it's true, I hope they update the PC and PS3/360 versions as well to match the quality.

Demiurge Studios makes even worse games (original titles) than the Sector 8 devs that supposedly did a substantial part of the PS3/PC/Xbox version. They don't make many of their own titles, instead doing mostly grunt work for other studios.

You'd have to be pretty gullible to think it's going to be revolutionary just because they're finishing the port late. They are not making a completely new game.

Crysis 3 is what Aliens Colonial Marines wish it was. I am so angry at these developers, because the Alien franchise started that space marine concept in every shooting game, yet this game can't be as good as the games inspired by it.

Better graphics won't fix the bad story, or the horrible AI, or the shoehorning of a character from Aliens into the game (that was clearly killed in the movie) with no explanation whatsoever, or the fact that you fight humans more than you fight Xenos.

My money is on the Wii U version getting canceled. Wii U owners needn't be upset though. The game is an abomination. Be glad you weren't one of the many tricked into buying it.

Well actually there's a chance a good deal of that might be different.

Since all this broke we've heard a decent amount of stuff was left on the cutting room floor. It's possible some of this stuff that was cut out could be in there. Wouldn't make a huge difference, but might make a small one. Fighting the humans no doubt would still be there (really stupid story decision), so it won't fix everything.

But if you look at the 'kick ass trailer', the part where there is a turret in that tunnel, like the original demo trailer, was there. Thus some more story elements and more gameplay elements (besides the gamepad stuff) might be in there.

The kick ass trailer also briefly showed that tunnel in space breaking open, and you could see it had shadows coming from the right side, like the original demo.

So it seems, if that Kick Ass trailer IS the Wii U version, then it should have more gameplay elements and better graphics (though probably not quite up to the original demo, but significantly closer that the other versions), plus potentially a slightly deeper story.

Overall that might put it up to a decent game. Or just a slight abomination rather than an abortion that survived.

Or it could still suck, the guy on the reddit thread might have been telling the truth, and the game comes out and sucks or is cancelled.

We'll see. I'm still holding off canceling my pre-order from October until I see more. I've got about a $20 savings compared to a regular purchase with $12 off, no sales tax, and free shipping. More stuff should come out between now and when it ships (if it does).

It's not about the 'power' of the WIi U versus what's capable on the PC. It's that the PC basically got the 360 version slightly upscaled.

The Wii U is getting a different version, from a different developer, with different textures, and different gameplay, and potentially even a slightly more in-depth story.

So would you rather have BF3 on lowish settings or Call of Duty 4 running in 1600p with max AA? Because it isn't the system running the game we're talking about, it's the decisions made by the devs on what they were going to do with it.

Of course it might end up sucky like the others, it's correct to even think it is more likely than not to be that way, but since it IS being done by a different studio, it makes sense that there is a possibility it could be better.

The PC version of this game looks pretty trashy. It's not a high bar the Wii U has to overcome, even if it looks a bit more jaggy, there's more to graphics then resolution and AA. You can have the PC version of A:CM running in 4k and Battlefield 3 on medium settings at 1080 will look way better.

Just like CoD Blops2 at 1600p and max settings won't look as good as say Crysis 3 at 1080p on medium settings.

To be that different, the WiiU version would have had to be remade in depth. All that effort for a port to a console with almost no install base.
And given how much GBX have slacked on the other versions, I don't see them making that kind of effort for the WiiU port, an effort that ports of much better games have not received.

It's more complicated then that.

If the rumor is true, the Wii U version was seen as the 1st step towards 'next gen'. The PS3/360/PC was the game built around the 360 gen.

It's not that it had to be remade, it's that they had two versions being made at the same time, both supposed to be similar, think of it like art class, each student paints or draws the object they are supposed to draw. One person might paint it crappy, leave some details out, and rush to hand it in first, while another paints it pretty good, has more details, and finishes it later. Same object painted, two different results.

So it's not that they're making the Wii U game with just the Wii U in mind, but the Wii U version was made with the PS4/720/Wii U/future PC versions in mind. But contractually on this one, they had to make the PC/360/PS3 together.

Of course it IS unsubstantiated, whether or not it's crap is something we'll find out sooner or later. We can guess and be right or wrong, but it's still just guesses.

I wouldn't be surprise if the Wii U version was better than the PS3 and 360 versions. The Wii U should be a more powerful machine. The GPU alone is far better than the one in either of the other consoles. And the CPU has some much newer tech in it that should make it at worse on the same level as the others. But if it's better than the PC version something is wrong. That would have to go down as bad programming.

It would be because the PC version was the same version as the 360/PS3 version, slightly upgraded.

Whereas the Wii U version was made differently. No doubt if these rumors are true, had they decided to make a PC version from the Demiurge version of A:CM, it would look better than the Wii U, but they didn't, and that's why it might be inferior to the Wii U version.

People are forgetting that Gearbox and Sega signed the deal years and years ago, for a 360/PS3/PC version.

The Wii U is no doubt a separate contract, since there was no Wii U to be included with the original contract. That's probably why this is the case.

The Wii U version is the step up version (potentially), while the PS3/360/PC version is the 'current gen' version.

I sincerely doubt the veracity of this rumour. However if it is true, it'll be bigger than the Mass Effect 3 scandal because a number of gamers unknowingly bought a derivative product and expected the demo footage to at least be representative of the product they were buying.

Well from one of the reddit posters that were "developers" they did have to throw out the original version due to lack of memory being available and had to redo it all. Maybe it would fit into the wii u memory. Doesn't excuse the pc version though.

As much as I would like this to be true, I very much doubt it. Considering the game is getting a lot of flak, most likely not selling well, companies will say anything to get people to buy something.

We will just have to wait and see, if they are lying, they are going to get torn apart by gamers. Why would anyone want to continue buying products from a company who lied about it the first time round, then tries to coax people into thinking buying a different version and then lies about it again.

I just hope this is true for Gearbox's sake, because Borderlands 3 isn't going to get as many sales as BL2...
