The fact is before, during, and after the conference Xbox 360s will still be selling. It's their job to continue promoting that process.

But, like he said that is all industry noise that us fans get all riled up about, but the general public doesnt even know about certain games and announcements after E3, so they definately won't be as aware as the hardcore after Feb 20th.

I think most people have it wrong. I hear some people saying MSFT is scared or got cought with their pants down. I think Sony knows what's up with MSFT/720 from their E3 planning. And don't want to be overshadowed. This Sony event ensures Sony can get as much hype as possible for PS4 without sharing it with the 720.

And to set the tone for the gaming media and fanboys this way they're conditioned to be critical of the challenger. Actually pretty smart.

And to slow Wii-U adoption. It's a gamble and success depends if the console is almost ready or more trickery from the past like with PS3.

Sony has always tried to bait MSFT into revealing and then has waited to release their console to see if there is any worthy ideas to adopt.

MS does have games, its not the kind of games we're talking about or what N4G wants. Realistically the world doesn't revolve around hardcore exclusive games, I would love for that to be true though.

Thus why MS is super successful in the U.K right now.

They're catering to the wide casual market to get the lead. And MS will do whatever it takes to overtake the wii.

My wife has absolutely no interest in gaming so it was a huge surprise that on the day the news came out and I had only that day found out about the upcoming Sony announcement she returns from work telling me that Sony was announcing the PS4.

At the time there was no confirmation of it being about the PS4 and I did ask her where she had heard it and she couldn't actually tell me lol, but if she knows the news then there are plenty of non gamers who know it too, another mate of mine came round a few days later and although he has a PS3 he is not a big gamer anymore but he too knew the news.

Well, if you think it's so well known perhaps you can carry out an experiment. Ask your parents when the Sony event is being held. Ask your transit driver how he feels about the Wii-U. Ask the lady who's ringing through groceries if she's excited about the PS4's pending announcement. Ask your teachers what they would most like to see as a feature on the Xbox 720. Ask a random post office employee. Ask a police officer. Ask the guy selling photocopiers in your Office Supply store.

These are the majority of consumers out there, and they don't know or care a vicar's fart over what's going on in the world of videogames. Casual consumers do not follow gaming like we do and the casuals make up at least 75% of the gaming market, as much as we hate to admit they are the reason why gaming is still a relevant -business.

Go compare the sales to games like Angry Birds, Mario, Pokemon, Wii Fit, MineCraft to games like Battle Royal, Alan Wake, Dark Siders 2 and tell me which games are selling better.

No doubt the Xbox 360 is successful, I doubt after the first Xbox managed only 24 million sold that anyone dreamed the successor would be closing in on 80 million sold. It's a huge number and a great success. They were one of two console makers that saw gains from the previous console.

Cant wait to see what they and Sony have in store for us next generation.

Hardcore gamers only make up a small part of society. To think everyone will know about Sony's announcement is silly. Far too many Americans don't even know who the Vice-President is. People pay attention to what is important to them. Gaming is the biggest entertainment product in the world. But proximity to taste and marketing hype makes people lose sight of a particular items place in the world. Billions won't know about Sony's announcement. Or anything Microsoft announces on Sunday.

And the idea that Microsoft is scared is silly too. Any announcements MS makes will be about muddying the water. Never letting your opponent have the audience to themselves. Besides from a technological standpoint, I think Microsoft has lot more expertise than Sony. Especially in CPU and GPU design and the ability to make the software to exploit the parts. If Sony had that talent, they would have already brought the cost of the PS3 down a lot more.

Nvidia refused it, Sony are still being ripped of by them.

I was writing a different reply when I remembered something. I do seem to remember Nvidia balking at the idea that their tech would be given to a third party to modify. That is one of the unfortunate results of the Cell not being what it was supposed to be and the RSX being added so late.

Nvidia is pretty bold to think their position is so strong that they can alienate all of the console makers continue to be independent. Intel might gobble them up soon. AMD is being downplayed right now. But the reality is that they are going to be the future of CPUs.

All of the console holders switching to AMD makes it look like Fusion is going to work. Intel is nowhere near a HSA CPU. Two years from now AMD and Nvidia will be on the ropes and AMD will be Chipzilla. I read an article a sometime ago about all of the richest people selling all of the Intel stock. Not some. 100%. They know that there is a change coming and like every other crash of any kind in the market, they move quietly and let the little guy go on a get left holding the bag. But the before it happens the only thing you'll hear is that AMD is struggling and might go out of business.

Gotta love the stock market and media. And government.
