Anyway, this console is being too easily dismissed. The masses are familiar with what it offers and are use to having large numbers of apps and games to browse. On another note, it will probably support any media format and allow you to use chrome to browse the web on your tv. Given they plan to release a new model every year by this time next year it could pack a tegra 4 GPU and that is a powerhouse. How long do you think it will be before the Vita supports the h.265 video format?

Yes there is likely to be a lot of shovelware available day one but there will also be a lot of fun for a fraction of the price of a regular console.

If someone is coming into the console industry, they should not be coming into it with phone games. People already have tablets and phones for these.

Steam box will be what gets people excited because the industry will benefit.

Well it is Tegra 3 based so there is really only so much they could do with it. PS2/Xbox era is the max potential it could have with games with maybe a little more GPU power than PS2/Xbox, but not a whole lot. As Tegra 3 is roughly 12 Gigaflops. Almost matching the Wii's 20 Gigaflops.

FTL, The Walking Dead, Journey, FEZ, Xenoblade Chronicles, Mark of the Ninja....all came out and were hugely successful last year - nominated for GOTY in various categories on various sites - all could be done on an iPhone or Android. Hardware != good games.

And its those casuals that are needed to help bolster the Vita. Its those casuals that help bolster console sales in the years that follow its launch. Now those casuals have an offering they are immediately familiar with. Yeah, Sony and MS won't even be watching this.

Personally I hope it's successful, if only to offer nothing more than a cheap open source platform for indie devs or first time devs to cut their teeth and make a name for themselves.

For low income families this could be a great option to get gaming into their living rooms.

Low income doesn't mean stupid idiots that want people trash items. Low income families would be better served by saving up an extra $100 and getting a 360. Also, this thing almost certainly requires an internet connection so those fictional dirt poor low income families you are thinking of would not have internet. If they did have an internet connection, it would also mean they have a computer and they would be better served playing computer games.

Can't wait to check them out. Some will be crap - no doubt. But I anticipate some great games as well. Indie devs are the innovators - not the AAA game makers. AAA guys just sell you the same game over and over again with slightly better graphics and new levels - no thanks.

Bro you can play emulators on you computer for free and if you hook up a hdmi to dvi cable or just a hdmi cable you can play all those emulated games on your tv. Just so you know, they do make those types of cables wireless too.

500 games and only 1 that is worthwhile. That is the Megaman X game and that is almost certainly on other system. What a sad joke.

I don't see why every one on here is so negative about something so cheap. One of the best and unique games I've played this gen has been Journey. You better believe they can make something like Journey on this machine. Yes, it has a Tegra 3, but there is a lot of potential for innovation when development is cheap and they aren't worried about purely graphics. I think it could be fun to have one sitting next to my PS4, that's why I was apart of the kickstarter.
