I agree.

I love trophies and achievements. When they are done well they add content to a game and they can also be a lot of fun.

PopRocks3594087d ago

I think I'd be more interested in the idea if it took an automatic screenshot or ten second video and posted it on Miiverse showing the moment you received the accomplishment. Basically make it more social than how it's been utilized on other platforms.

Theyellowflash304087d ago

Thats a good idea, I just want Nintendo to provide some sort of reward to discuss with your friends on MiiVerse.

Myx234087d ago

i agree, too. i overcame my trophy-addiciton 2 years ago, but the wii u desperately needs such a system. i really want a reason for switching my wii u on again and i also would like to have a reason why i should care about other people on the miiverse. just watching them prance around doesn't do the trick for me as a consumer.

Droid Control4087d ago

I disagree.

I hate achievements.
I love to play games because I enjoy them. If you need achievements its because you are

A. Insecure
B. A child
C. A chav

If you feel the need to complain about something that is completely optional, refer to your own 'a,b,c' advice.

matgrowcott4087d ago

I've always been a staunch supporter of trophies/achievements, but you, sir, have turned me around. Fantastic logic.

Seriously though, Nintendo have created this fantastic social experience on their console that let's people discuss games in a clean, safe, creative environment. It's fantastic and innovative and if you haven't checked it out yet, I strongly suggest you do.

The only thing missing? Actually being able to compare games. Even if it's a progress bar - "This player has finished 58% of Game A" - the Miiverse would be better for it, although full achievements would be even greater.

Mr_Writer854087d ago

What if you don't need them? But find some of them fun?

What does that make you?

Summons754087d ago

No they really don't. Achievements add nothing to games except an award which you get nothing.

ape0074087d ago

they are rewarding, fun and addictive

Summons754087d ago

not really awarding since you don't get anything besides a number next to your gamertag and your immersion into the game broken by a big ding during the middle of a cutscene. Rewarding is when you go out of your way to find a secret hidden item that your friends didn't know about. Now devs just tell you exactly where it is and how to get it in order to get a.....number.

I don't like being told how to play my games and games never had a problem with replay value before so when someone can come up with a legitimate argument as to why trophies are good then please do tell.

Theyellowflash304087d ago

If you read the article you'll see that its more than just text. Its a social experience the other consoles have and Nintendo is missing out on.

look I respect your opinion but if u want a legit Reason u got it, Imagine if achievements and trophies got canceled now by sony and ms, the net will blow up, imagine the outrage, the petitions, the requests, the youtube vids, the tweets etc... , U may not give a F*** but majority of gamers like it and find it rewarding and addictive, do u remember how many people wanted trophies for MGS 4???

Microsoft should have left them stay 3rd party

PassNextquestion1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Bethesda France was made up of roughly 15 people... they couldn't of being doing much

Bethesda France mainly did publishing and marketing within the region

Profchaos1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Bethesda France focused on publishing and marketing in the region. And 15 people lost their jobs as part of the closure.

I wonder if this is part of Microsoft's strategy to abandoned physical media or possibly gamepass advertising makes their roles redundant you don't need to market a game as hard when the majority of players get the game as part of a sub which already promoted upcoming games

Tacoboto1h ago

It's France too, there's a high likelihood only 1-2 people on the team even had an Xbox.

Profchaos1h ago

Possibly guven all the leaks we know the Xbox brand is really struggling in the region.

Tbh Microsoft I think Bethesda being 3rd party same with Activision would probably more competitive than thus scenario imo

Sony Could Increase Your Game's Difficulty If It Sees You Complain About It

Sony has recently published a new patent that wants to dynamically handle the games' difficulty and gameplay based on the player's emotions.

jznrpg3h ago

This is something I might use. Sometimes I play some good games but they don’t have difficulty option and are a little too easy.

Profchaos2h ago

Souls games will be like that players struggling make it harder

I think if used correctly it could work well

Nintendo's Massacre Of The 3DS And Wii U Is Finally Complete, Regrettably

Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
