Dragon Quest VII Has Already Sold A Million in Japan (Full Media Create Software & Hardware sales)

"By most reports, the game market is shrinking worldwide. If anyone needed any reassurance of the selling power of Dragon Quest in Japan, however, they just got it. Within its first week, Dragon Quest sold over 800,000, and according to Famitsu, has now gone on to sell a million copies in its homeland, making it the fastest 3DS game to hit a million. That means it outpaced Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Brothers 2, Animal Crossing, and Monster Hunter Tri-G. Now we'll just have to see if it reaches the two million mark more quickly than Animal Crossing: New Leaf. It probably will, but you never know.
Here's the full Media Create chart." -GR

If only that Dragon Quest was on the Vita...

knifefight4083d ago

Hopefully Dragon Quest VIII makes it. I'd love to see that plus an original DQ for the machine. Together, they'd work sales wonders in Japan.

If only everything was on the Vita.

Baylex4082d ago

I have to agree on this!!

chestnut11224083d ago (Edited 4083d ago )

I hope Dragon Quest 8 will be ported to handhelds Either the 3ds or Vita, That game was really amazing back in the ps2 days

Canary4083d ago

I'd rather see it on a home console. I think most people would.

It's the only Dragon Quest game that would look better ported to an HD console than re-made on a portable console (compared to its original release, of course).

...

But, to reply to your comment more directly: you'd better hope that IF it does get remade for a portable console, that it gets made for the 3DS. Why? Because Square-Enix is hates gamers. The only reason Dragon Quest exists as a thing in North America and Europe is because Nintendo went out of their way to localize the games after Square Enix gave up.

(For the record, Square Enix gave up on Dragon Quest after releasing the Dragon Quest IV remake... only partially translated into English. Yikes).

...

And, even then, Arte Piazza--the people responsible for the DQ remakes--are very skilled when it comes to working with 2D assets and sprites... but 3D stuff? Not so much. If DQVIII is any example, a remake from them may not be an improvement.

That PS1/PS2 graphical style needs to go already.. i know the 3ds is capable of some great looking character models.. Look at RE Revelations

Kratoscar20084083d ago

They dont need to go they just need to make it better and imo asking for realism in DQ would be suicidal for the series in Japan.

DivineAssault 4082d ago

maybe but the wii graphics are still much better than this.. Look at the environments

Kratoscar20084082d ago

@DivineAssault

I know, they should had kept the graphical splendor of DQ VIII but apparently good graphics isnt a requirement for Japaneses to enjoy DQ so SE doesnt care, a shame really.

PhoenixUp2759d ago

I really don't care how my character looks as long as it's a great game

Kyosuke_Sanada2757d ago (Edited 2757d ago )

If the art direction of the game revolves around "beautiful" or "ugly" characters then let it be so. I don't think either should be forced in if it's against a development's team original vision. Besides, I doubt anyone who had a big dose of reality truly believes that beauty determines the strength of their character.

But In some cases such as myself, I did have my vidya heroes and admiring them drove me to exercise at a young age which I definitely don't regret now.
