Michel Ancel and Rayman dev team protest Ubisoft's decision to delay Rayman Legends

There is some good PR. The game is getting more attention now and I'm starting to feel bad for the devs. So much hard work put into getting a game finished only to have it delayed. I hope they don't find themselves out of work for speaking out though.

It is a grea idea for them to display their discontent . It ensure some of the most annoyed people wont be boycotting the game and the wii u version , and thus punishing a dev team that wasnt at fault .

This is pretty crazy. People say Ubisoft made the right business decision, but good decisions don't receive backlash like this. Good decisions end with customers buying a product they want and the company making money. As of right now Ubisoft is zero for two.

The game being released on 360 and PS3 is a good thing, but regardless of what console you own or prefer, Wii U owners were promised that they'd have this (pretty much completed) game by the 26th of this month and what's happening is not fair to them or the developers who worked their asses of to have the game ready by this time, plain and simple.

Lol they were promised another demo this month..as if that tides people over for 7 months. Ubisoft made an awful decision. I don't have Wii U..I don't want one and I dont even think Id get Rayman Origins anyway but this SUCKS for fans and the Devs who've been working since before last E3 overtime who want to spend time with their children and families or otherwise get some deserved R&R.

If Ubisoft sticks to their guns and releases the Wii U version alongside the 360 and PS3 versions, effectively letting the title gather dust on a shelf for seven months then I won't be buying the game on principal irrespective of how good it is.

Agreed. It sucks that these guys are actually sticking their asses out there in support of us who were anticipating the game. The publisher is making a big mistake and unfortunately these same guys who are somewhat fighting for us are going to be the ones who suffer. I'll say again ill pick this up used from gamefly or will ebay it. Shame cause this is one of the few titles I was looking forward to this spring.

Really insane when the developer of the game has to protest to get a game released, a game that is ready to go. It's seems that the Ubisoft higher ups are idiots to think it is a good decision to delay this game and then send it out alongside GTA5. September is now own by GTA5, to release anything in that month is to call down disaster on your game.

i agree, no publicity is bad publicity. however, you cannot expect people who were clearly interested in getting the game on a February release date, to get the game on September. the month that marks the release of GTA V.

some may argue that GTA V is overrated, however one cannot deny its popularity. not to mention, we've yet to hear from other publishers what they have in store during that period, and also Nintendo's Wind Waker HD (coming by fall) for the Wii U, and Pokemon X&Y for the 3DS.

there's also a big possibility that either or both the PS4 and Xbox720 will be releasing by the end of the year, which will further affect the possible sales of Rayman Legends for 360 and PS3, as people may hold their cash to get a console and most likely some first-party titles that will be released alongside them.

so really, the only saving grace for Ubisoft here is to release the game for Wii U either as scheduled or if they really need to polish it, then delay a month (but within the launch period of Wii U) and simply be done with it. the longer they delay the game, the more people will be less interested about it.

if their issue is about the MS policy, if I understand correctly, they can always "re-title" it to Rayman Legends Special Edition with added content for PS3 and Xbox360. anyway, they have nothing to lose on that part since some features of the game are specific to Wii U, so why not add features that will not be available in Wii U but available in PS3 and 360, that's only fair. and if they do add new stages or something, they can always have it as DLC for Wii U. see, everybody happy.
