John or Jack Marston to Not Star in the Next Red Dead Game?

There have been a lot of rumors flying about RockStar’s next step in the Red Dead series. Players took a huge liking to this Western game and along with it a great love for the games protagonist, John Marston. This was a game original from most every other game out there. It took players and placed them in a setting they weren’t used to playing. Red Dead: Redemption had a great plotline, long game play and familiarity that players weren’t used to. Of course, with all the good there is to say about the game fans want a squeal. With the way RockStar has taken fan favorite games in the past the odd of getting a direct squeal to Red Dead: Redemption isn’t as good as players might want them to be.

I would love to see John back if they could do it in a believeable way. Didnt care for Jack. so John over unknown but unknown over Jack.

Root4081d ago

Same

I thought it would of been good if they did a DLC for RDR which tells us an alternative story about the ending

Like an Outlaw Josey Wales type of story

The government come early for John, he's away, since Abbi and Jack won't give him up they kill them both, John comes home to house on fire and sees the two people he spent days trying to save now gone. Now that he's become a broken man he reverts to his old ways and decides the that "once an outlaw, always an outlaw" so he decides to get revenge on the two government agents with the help on people he's met throughout the game. The final missions in the DLC would lead up to the big fight where he would finally kill them both.

At the end he starts to warm up to Bonnie, hinting at some romance before he rides off into the sunset as an outlaw with nothing to loose

LEAST THEN

They could continue it using that DLC's ending

The way he went in the game was silly in my opinion, I mean Johns a smart man but how did he know the Government weren't going to go after Abbi and Jack anyway. They did try to kill them when they came for John and they were shooting at the house. Just seemed pretty silly to me.

In my opinion he should of just ran, sent a letter to Abbi and Jack explaining he can never come home. Least then the next game could be John trying to clear his name or something

" I mean Johns a smart man but how did he know the Government weren't going to go after Abbi and Jack anyway."

He didn't. But that was the only thing he could do to at least have some sort proof that they wouldn't go after them. If he ran, government agents would've easily captured his family again and held them hostage to lure him back in. That was the theme of the game anyway. Redemption through sacrifice. He proved to everyone that he wasn't some cold hearted bastard that killed people for money but was a family man who just wanted to be left alone with his family after doing the dirty work of the government. But I really do like the idea of a DLC that focuses on revenge. Zombie DLC was really fun but if it was something like you said, it would've been better.

Jack turned out to be a badass John had his time but I doubt itl be Jack

kingfetish174081d ago (Edited 4081d ago )

The next RDR, Bully, & Manhunt games on next-gen consoles would be worth hyping about!

I personally want to see the next RDR game set sometime before Redemption in a different location. More with a "Cowboy vs Indian" emphasis. It would be cool if R* implemented multiple playable characters like GTA5. I'd like to play a Native Indian role where bow & arrows are used and the ability to climb trees is possible. All characters can be new and intertwined as the story progresses.

BullyMangler4080d ago

why a sequel when Red Dead Redemption is a Huge game full of different angled slopes and valleys always feeling new online ? ..
in my factual opinion, Rockstar should not work on a new Red Dead Redemptions game, Rockstar should work on the games pop-up, and in adding more weapons like a machete or bow-and arrow etc . and also they should make a new room, a real Hardcore room. not this radar with dots that blow your cover

Awesome_Gamer4080d ago

Agree. John Marston is one of my favourite video game characters, ever. I hated Jack, though.

John is dead and Jack already got revenge for his fathers death

ApolloTheBoss4081d ago

It's been 3 years since Red Dead came out. There is no excuse why anyone who hasn't played it could have at LEAST rented the game by now.

A2X_4081d ago (Edited 4081d ago )

A little Spoilers tag wouldn't hurt, but the spoilers are well deserved if you still didn't play this game by now..

greatcrusader444080d ago

Its been out for a few yrs now and SPOILER tags never work, at least for me cuz I still accidentally pick up a few keywords out of focus when I read SPOILERS.

classic2004081d ago

rockstar always gives us new characters which is cool

Reverent4081d ago

Not here on N4G though! Lol...

linkkjm4081d ago

A prequel would be cool, about John's outlaw days

You left out The Darkness games bring those back

fan_of_gaming4d ago

The head of Nightdive Studios has posted that The Darkness is on their list of games they want to do, so hopefully something comes from that

Little Big Planet 1 and 2 deserve a mention, IMO.

Good call on Motorstorm, a game released 2 gens ago but still looks and feels so good. Motorstorm 2 and Motorstorm RC were gems as well. They followed up the Motorstorm games with the brilliant Driveclub, which still manages to put modern racing games to shame. Imagine closing down a studio as talented as that ... (!) Incredible.

A little 'arcade-gem' back then was The Last Guy, a top down 'follow the leader' snake-like game where you had to find and lead survivors to safety during an alien invasion, on terrible looking 'Google-earth' maps. Graphics were poor, even back then, but would love that same gameplay with modern maps and graphics.

Street Fighter 4, once it finally had a full roster, was quite good, but it was always an ugly game, sadly. Imagine bringing that back while using the current SF6 engine.

Good suggestions, I'd be in for
LittleBigPlanet
LittleBigPlanet 2
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
Motorstorm: RC

purple1014d ago

God damn I love motorstorm so much

At the time I had a low-mid range sony 40” tv, The latency to the controller was waaaay too high, would to play a modern version

In saying that later I got a 3d lg tv and playing the 3d motorstorm in my bedroom with the environment crumbling around the track, was something special, specially compared to what others were playing at the time, will always remember that

Skuletor5d ago

Some good choices here and Resistance: Fall of Man is my most wanted PS3 remaster/remake. Not sure about their claim it was Sony's answer to Gears of War though.

CrimsonWing695d ago

I’d rather have sequels than remakes. Look at Dead Space 1 Remake. Would’ve been cooler if we got a new entry and it failed with sales sealing the fate of a sequel rather than just replay the same game and it fail in sales and we never get a new entry.

Remakes are great for things like PS2 and earlier games to really get a crazy new graphical coat, but I think we should ease up on all these remakes and actually do sequels.

fan_of_gaming4d ago

Yeah for sure, sequels would be ideal. But in the current market environment where many big publishers are risk-averse, I'd rather get a remaster or remake that a developer can do on a budget that will be approved, rather than nothing for an IP.

Inverno5d ago

I rather they remaster and port over to PC and current gen all the games permanently stuck on PS360. Those games don't need remakes, they need to be given a chance to live again outside of their confined consoles and then give a few proper sequels. Like Sleeping Dogs, Motor Storm, LA Noir, should get another entry.

fan_of_gaming4d ago

Yeah I'd be fine with remasters of PS3 games too, they don't have to be remakes.

hmm kinda out there i find red dead 2 a over hyped game i am sure there are other's out there worthy of this award.

Are we saying rdr 2 mp is better than the first one?

The cover shooting better on #2 than #1?

I mean they reused 80% of rdr 1 map on rdr 2

smolinsk16d ago

Red Dead Redemption 1 was better. A better story that's for sure but the world in red Dead Redemption 2 is fantastic. But overall yes Red Dead Redemption 2 is overhyped but with best living World ever made.

just_looken16d ago (Edited 16d ago )

Oh rdr 2 world how you leave tracks what you can do and the npc's are great no doubt

For me its the forced guns one way to play missions and the camp you can do nothing be a ass and there is no change sense none of the hunting/donating.bounty/karma etc even taking care of your horse matters. Then you got the horse inventory along with them bringing in realistic inventory but at the same time have that slomo crap pick a lane is it a wild west sim or a max payne rip off.

shinoff218315d ago (Edited 15d ago )

Plus who cares about the mp. Single player is where it's at.

I don't think it's the best sequel either. I liked it but I can see why some say it's overhyped. That's because it was. Great game still. I'd take xcom 2 as a better sequel. I'm sure there's plenty others.

just_looken15d ago

We care about mp because of gta v even if you been living under a rock you know what gtao did to gta v dlc.

Though rdr 2 mp failed it still put time/resources and budget away from the single player for a subpar experience compared to the first.

lucasnooker16d ago

Hmmm don’t know about that one myself. There’s some good sequels there….

No way last of us 2 was a better sequel than the original resident evil 2. The story of TLOU2 was a huge let down for me!

Assassins creed 2 was a vast improvement over the original and still the very best of the entire franchise imo.

Half-life 2 will always be legendary.

RDR2 is great but the best sequel ever? I don’t think so… just my opinion though I guess

shinoff218315d ago

Shoot down last of us 2 but bring up assassins creed 2. What in the world.

anast16d ago

Last of Us 2 would be mine and Dark Souls 3 has to be up there.

raWfodog16d ago

I also enjoyed TLOU2 but RDR2 edges it out for me. Both hit me in the feels but RDR2 just a little bit more lol.

anast16d ago

RDR2 is an excellent game. One of my top 10 of all time.

SimpleSlave16d ago

Sure, if you started playing game yesterday and just for this series. Otherwise? lol... No.
