EGM Review: Aliens: Colonial Marines

Most game developers are problem-solvers by nature, and few dilemmas vex them more than the challenge of building a great videogame based on a licensed franchise. So, when Sega announced in 2006 that they’d tapped the crew at Gearbox Software—creators of the beloved Borderlands titles—to take a stab at the Alien universe, it gave gamers and Xeno fans alike a reason to hope.

More than six years later, Aliens: Colonial Marines has finally arrived, allowing us to see whether the gang from Plano, Texas, could take one of gaming’s most-aped intellectual properties and deliver an experience that does the feature films justice.

The worst review website in the existence of mankind. I suggest no gamer to visit this website

But everyone is and thats the point. Its the opposite of giving a great game like ni no kuni a 7... Yeah i am talking to you Game Informer!!! U got that one dead wrong...and 1 month kater dead space 3 gets a 9.75 putting it in legendary status. Cant wait to see their review on this game.

Ni no kunai deserved that score as it wasnt that good. You really must need your exclusive rpg fix if thats the case. This game is no nine out of ten though.

It's an opinion but it's one backed up by 95% of reviewers. I am betting u didn't even play it. It's a great jrpgs and...oh yeah...it's a great game in general. It's gorgeous, has great combat system, the story isn't bad, and it blends strengths from some of the best jrpgs out there. And what I love most is that unlike most games today, it doesn't try and cater to the masses. It is classic rpg in glorious hd. But that's why I love games, everyone can have an opinion...whether it's right or not!

Yeah, BS review. Were they wearing money glasses while not playing the game. The game is not even working/loading properly. WTF?

Edit: Check how many Aliens CM ads are all over their website.

...quit playing in the gutter with kotaku!

Myst4081d ago

O_o Playing the game now and I see it's shortcomings, what they could/should do or perhaps I should write what I would LIKE them to do. Even as it stands now I couldn't give it at 9/10.

Bio_Mod4081d ago

Are you enjoying it though? mine still hasn't arrived yet.

Myst4081d ago

Mm so-so. Reminds me of how I felt about Raccoon City was fun with friends but not so much alone. I was streaming it for a bit and that made it a bit more fun. overall though eh....I can only say it's so-so...

Roundtable: Games That Should Have Received a Sequel

Too many games aren't given a second shot. We at VGU choose which games we would love to see receive a sequel.

The Saboteur - criminally underrated and a fantastic mechanic of bringing colour back to Nazi-occupied Paris.

The article lists Bulletstorm, Sleeping Dogs, and Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Can't argue with any of those really, but I would add Resident Evil Operation Racoon City and Metal Gear Survive to that list. Both terrible games from good franchises.

Bulletstorm, I actually liked the gameplay but the atrocious writing and characters made me despise the game by the end of it.

I still play AvP on PS3 to this day. That game had fun multiplayer too.
