Ten Great HD Remakes That Should Come to the Wii U

Analog Addiction Writes: "If there is a category that sees frequent releases while growing in popularity over the last few years, it is HD ports of older and generally beloved games. We have easily seen dozens of HD ports over the years, a lot of which have been released in collections of two or three games. I personally love that publishers and developers have decided to re-release their popular games in high definition for several reasons:

1). It gives people the chance to play games they might have missed from past consoles.

2). People will get to see their favorite games run in the best possible way without transforming the graphics (depending on how the HD port is handled of course).

3). A majority of the ports will have achievement or trophy support.

4). Most of the time, they are all a fantastic value. The games that are re-released on their own used to be $50 when they first came out. You are getting a bargain when they release a collection with two or three...

twilight princess shouldve been the remake coming soon, not windwaker.. oh well, they will never get it i guess & go their own way instead of what fans want.. Why cant they just look at the sales of the games & see which sold the most.. anyway, link to the past remake for 3ds would be great.. AFTER a new one comes out tho.. Its been long enough w/o one on there

jakmckratos4081d ago

You know what I felt the same way you did b/c this style didnt appeal to me at first but Im kinda glad this was chosen instead because I never had a gamecube and the Wii was insanely better selling. Granted TP sold 7.5 million copies altogether while this sold 4.5. When your marketing an HD remake it's better to choose games that TP was one of those games everybody played it is a good idea to release Wind Waker first to test the waters. Add in the fact that people can play Wii games on the Wii U and I can see why Nintendo made their choice.

But again a lot of people generally enjoyed WW and now a lot of people who did not play the GC will have their chance while Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword are still playable through backwards compatibility. Im excited to try out a new HD remake thats built from the ground up and I really do hope Majora's mask and TP/Skyward Sword follow suit

no dude, dont get me wrong.. I loved windwaker.. It was a fantastic game but i think that cell shaded child link should stay on the handhelds.. They made 2 on DS with that art style & its getting stale to see the same thing over n over again.. Its not that windwaker sucks cuz it was one of the best ever made (minus the hours of sailing til u got the warp).. I just think a remake of that game for $60 is insane.. If people didnt wanna play it back then, im sure they still wont for that price.. It was still playable on the wii (BC version) so many people had the chance to play it..

Twilight Princess was the best one imo & a remake (not HD facelift) wouldve been a great opportunity for them to get used to the detailed HD art style for the next new zelda on wii u.. I just dont understand why they would remake something that people didnt like as much instead of one that everyone loved.. Hell, a remake of link to the past wouldve been better than windwaker from a business standpoint.. Or a remake of the very first LOZ or Link 2 from NES

I agree. HD-ing Wind Waker takes away the feel. It should be on Wii U, but no upgrded graphics.

metroidfusion24081d ago

Ha eat a bag of whale shit and of course nintendo has never listened to the fans ha lol shut the fuck up and yes a new zelda for the 3ds is coming out don't know when but its coming possibly this year or next year and the only thing you do is complain nintendo is not doing this or that but if yo dumbass would do some or a lot of research then you would unferstand nintendo has and is going to make many improvements some or a lot coming soon while others obviously come later damn wait you ignorant child those tears are delicious keep crying into my cup I'm thirsty ha

kirbyu4081d ago

Does it have to be a GameCube game? Cause I would love to see Donkey Kong Country 2 HD or Super Mario World but with modern graphics.

Also, the Mario sports collection should feature Kart: Double Dash

MegaLagann4081d ago

I would rather play new games. The odd remake here and there is fine, but if Nintendo does everything their fans say then the Wii U will pretty much become the HD Gamecube in the most literal of terms.

CouldHaveYelledUiiW4081d ago

I agree but I do want an Eternal Darkness HD edition-

KingKelloggTheWH4081d ago

I would love to replay Twilight Princess in glorious HD.

I think they chose WindWaker because its style of graphics are Much easier to port to HD.

Eyeco4081d ago

i think its hilarious that all these Nintendo fans want HD remakes now, especially when they were the ones against it when Microsoft and Sony were doing it

Twilight Princess’ Hyrule Field Is Boring, Empty, And Excellent

TheGamer Writes "In my experience, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess’ once-warm reception has chilled somewhat over the years. Praised at launch as a beautiful return to form after the “childish” art style of its direct predecessor, the world eagerly embraced a game that more closely followed Ocarina of Time’s famous structure and plot cues. Perhaps most alluringly of all, the grandeur and sheer scope of this reimagined Hyrule Field wowed millions of us."

I am a huge Zelda fan and love them all, but for me Ocarina Of Time is the greatest and my second all time favourite game after Final Fantasy VII.

LoveSpuds604d ago (Edited 604d ago )

You sir, have good taste in games :)

I also love all of the Zelda games but I adore Windwaker (Specifically the HD version on WiiU) most of all. It is a close run thing with Breath of the Wild though.

Special mention to Cadence of Hyrule too, what an awesome spin off title that was!

GaboonViper604d ago

Cheers Spuds, yep i love Windwaker too, beautiful artstyle, and i loved sailing and finding all the secrets out there.

blackbeld604d ago

Agreed. For me top 3 of all time is.

1. ocarina of time
2. Final fantasy Vll
3. MGS1

GaboonViper604d ago

Brilliant top 3, would love a MGS1 remake that has been rumoured.

LoveSpuds604d ago

Yup, hard to argue with that top 3 squire, some quality games right there!

-Foxtrot605d ago

Oh gee can't imagine what Number 1 is

....

A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker etc is better than Breath of the Wild.

lockedongamer1605d ago

I respectfully disagree, but they're all great games.

porkChop605d ago

I think it really depends on what you're looking for. If you want a traditional Zelda game then OoT or WW would be better to you. But if you want a Zelda game that really leans into adventure and exploration, and if you want intelligent systems/logic, BotW would be the better game.

I enjoy both. I understand why some people aren't fond of it but for me it was a breath of fresh air that I really needed. I'd become so burnt out on unimaginative games and BotW sort of made me appreciate games again, as weird as that may sound.

godofboobees604d ago

Those are not traditional Zelda games

Crows90604d ago

Right...so let's pretend ocarina of time didnt have exploration, secret dungeons and other secrets. Complex boss mechanics and exploration rewards. At least a traditional Zelda has dungeons.

porkChop604d ago

What point are you attempting to make? At no point did I say that OoT didn't have any of that. However, the level of exploration and sense of adventure are vastly different between OoT and BotW.

Brazz604d ago

Breath of the Wild is overrated as shot, Wind waker is much better.

P_Bomb605d ago

I’m a Link to the Past guy.

MadLad604d ago

Majora's Mask still holds as my favorite to this day, despite being the black sheep of the series.

pietro1212604d ago

I love them all, but Wind Walker, Link to the Past and Minish Cap are my favorites

John_McClane604d ago

Link to the Past was so, so good! Those chickens though! 🤣

The 10 Best Star Fox Games Ranked From Worst to Best

BLG writes: "The original titles are classics with near-infinite replayability. Later releases, however, have stumbled. Usually, they’re hampered by attempted innovation with new control schemes or gimmicks. Still, there’s a lot to enjoy with the beloved Nintendo franchise. To celebrate, we’re going to rank the best Star Fox games in the franchise. To come up with the order, we’re mixing in a little bit of Metacritic ranking and author opinion."
