let's hope we see the same or better quality from their next game as we have seen on the ps3

NeverEnding19894088d ago (Edited 4088d ago )

This isn't the first time we've seen devs being forced to go multiplatform after the PS3 user base failed to support them. Not surprised.

EDIT -
@rage it's well known that SONY offered another three year contract and thatgamecompany turned it down due to financial difficulties of having three PSN exclusives fall below expectations sales wise. Google is your friend.

lodossrage4088d ago

You do know thatgamecompany was only with in a contract with Sony for a 3 game deal right (Flow, Flow, Journey).

They already said that were going multiplatform eventually right after they finished Flow.

So stop trying to troll

DigitalSmoke4088d ago

lol you dummy, its the fastest selling PSN title to date.

JP13694088d ago (Edited 4088d ago )

Being the best selling game on PSN doesn't count as support? If anything, the reason companies like these exist is because Sony is willing to take a chance and support titles that may seem to appeal only to a niche market.

On topic: I loved Journey and Flower and if going multiplatform keeps the devs in business and allows them to continue into the next generation than I fully support the move. I hope everyone gets a chance to play at least one of their games.

Edit: I love how you tell people to use Google when you can't even use the same service to see that the main reason for thatgamecompany being low on funds is the fact that they continually delayed Journey to spend more time polishing the game.

Rockefellow4088d ago

I'm not going to do your research for you to prove your points. You're wrong either way. You think that Journey fell below the sales expectations? Or Flower? FlOw would be the only game that sold minimally, but it came out when the PSN launched and has had plenty of time to rack of long-term sales.

Thankfully, you only have one bubble, likely due to you spamming convoluted bullshit elsewhere.

lodossrage4088d ago (Edited 4088d ago )

Show a link to this so called offering of ANOTHER 3 year contract being offered. Because not only am I not seeing it in any Google search, it's not even in the Wiki.

And what's this about falling below sales expectations when Journey became the fastest PSN title in history. Even beating out their previous game that was also a high seller, Flower

@NeverEnding

Yes, google is your friend. It told me that Journey is:

A) The best selling PSN game to date
http://www.destructoid.com/...

B) The top selling PSN game in Dec, 9 months after release
http://exophase.com/46598/j...

So when Bungie went multiplatform like ThatGameCompany, is it cuz Halo bombed? Darn 360 owners, refusing to support Halo. lmao, yeah no.

ThatGameCompany was a whopping 12 people, who asked Sony to delay the game for 2 years. Chen bankrupted his company doing so. He wants more revenue streams next time out, a bigger audience, Minecraft type of bling and to open up more doors for frustrated students he can't hire himself, or so he said at the DICE summit.

cleverusername4088d ago

Do u feel better now or do u need to troll a few more Sony articles?

Information Minister4088d ago

A troll that expects other people to prove his nonsense for him. Now I've seen it all!

CGI-Quality4088d ago

NeverEnding trolling, never-returning bubbles.

OT: As expected, they only had a 3-game contract with Sony (similar to Quantic Dream).

That's fine most new that they had a deal with sony where they only released 3 exclusive games for the PS3 . That's fine honestly. Hopefully they could make something similar like Journey so more console gamers can appreciate there work.

HarryMasonHerpderp4088d ago

I thought we already knew this?
Sony should of bought these guys after Journey but at least other people can now experience how awesome ThatGameCompany's games are. Can't wait to see what they do next.

ME19894088d ago

Makes sense. Having their games on multiple platforms means they can reach as wide an audience as possible, thus ensuring as much profit as possible. And more gamers will be able to experience the excellent work they do.

Win/win for everyone :)

-Alpha4088d ago (Edited 4088d ago )

Yup! They are very talented and work really hard, and deserve to make much more money, and what better way than to flourish and expand onto markets on XBL, Steam, Wii U, PSN, and other platforms to do that.

I am really happy and hopeful that they can balance both the creative drive and the success they deserve. It's been great seeing them grow throughout the generation.

MasterCornholio4088d ago (Edited 4088d ago )

What matters the most to PS3 gamers is the fact that this dev will continue to produce amazing games for Sonys console. So no worries for PS3 fans.

BTW i agree with Alpha that more people should be able to enjoy games that this studio makes. We need more innovative titles from developers like this instead of your typical run and gun shooter.

miyamoto4088d ago (Edited 4088d ago )

Its for the good of the whole gaming industry that TGC go multi-platform.
Not only would more gamers experience their awesome creativity but the more their games spread the more they change the gaming landscape dominated by kill-or- be killed games.

I heard they are making games for Android, too

Jobesy4088d ago

Not news, we all knew their 3 game contract with Sony ended and they were going multiplat.

Y_51504088d ago

True true. ThatGameCompany will be forever known to start off with an established series of games on the Playstation brand. I'm looking forward on what they will be making next even if it's multiplat. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series started as exclusive to the PS3. The sequels being multiplat didn't ruin the series but it actually improved with the bonus of more people being able to enjoy the series.

Finding Solace in 'Journey'

BY JOHN: As winter approaches, I find myself searching out "cozy" games that I can play when I need a break from the high-octane action and intense competition found in most modern games.  If you're feeling a little jaded by mini-maps covered in icons and a list of quests and side-quests a mile long, I have the perfect game for you.  A serene masterpiece for those looking for a port in the storm.

That game is Journey.
