Square Enix registers Legacy of Kain domain

CSC Corporate Domains, the corporate domain registrar used by Square Enix, registered a Legacy of Kain-related domain name on Thursday.

Hmmm very interesting, hopefully we will see a remake of Soul Reaver. The original game was superb but totally messed up due to lack of space on the disc, if you take a look at was originally intended for the game, you will be blown away.

Ah yes I remember reading this myself sometime ago what im wishing is an HD trilogy remake with the missing content like a directors cut but if its a reboot I dont know how I would feel about that but im sure to have an open mind considering the original team that made the series arent 100% together some split to other places but I am interested where this is going nonetheless

Don't get excited, its probably for an iOS game. I'm not trolling either, if we look at SE's recent shift in resources and production output. They've done like 20 mobile games to every console game this last year.

Personally, they offer me little as a consumer anymore. Other than cash-ins on nostalgia.

Hozi4092d ago

Yes!!! I really hope it's another LOK game.

zerocrossing4092d ago

I agree but... "Square Enix registers Legacy of Kain domain"

Squenix is doing it.... They better not mess this up, Legacy of Kain is one of the best Vampire tails ever told so they need to handle it well, and not turn it into Twilight.

Seraphim4092d ago

handle it right. all they need to do is remake LoK Blood Omen. I'd even take the same style. Completely redone visually & I'd bite. Easily one of the best games/experiences when I was a teen... I'd say remake the complete series including Soul Reaver but BO2 was a bloody mess. Just an atrocious game..... Defiance did it best but even that had many flaws. Nothing significant enough to make it a bad game but enough to make a solid game nothing better than average at best....

LoK. Crystal Dynamics. Yes Please. Just please make it a great game & don't go botching the story line....

Square-Enix are definitely just publishing it for Eidos, who will develop it.

People don't seem to realize this. Square-Enix are only involved in games like Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Hitman and Just Cause at the capacity of publisher. THEY HAVE NO CREATIVE INVOLVEMENT WITH THE GAME.

Get Amy Henning to write the story and it will do wonders for whatever Platform(s) it is on or at least for the fans of the series.

UltraVegito4092d ago

Let's just hope that it's on a console/handheld instead of some crappy Ios spin-off.

Interested to see what they will do with this.

Loved the game on the ps1.

Pozzle4092d ago

I know it will probably never happen...but it would be cool if they kept her script for the Lok: Defiance sequel that got canned. Apparently it was pretty epic. :O

Hoping for a next gen soul reaver.

OhMyGandhi4092d ago (Edited 4092d ago )

I agree.
it's one of the few franchises that hasn't outstayed it's welcome.

Mouktouk4093d ago (Edited 4092d ago )

Finally some great news! I don't care much if it's a remake, a reboot or a sequel, as long as they keep the high quality standard of the series.

I'm seriously pumped, please don't screw things up!

I’m Glad Atlus & SE Changed Dates To Avoid Competing With Shadow Of The Erdtree

Saad from eXputer: "I'm glad I don't have to choose between Square Enix, Atlus, and FromSoftware due to bad release windows and Shadow of the Erdtree."

H91d 7h ago

More intelligent than guerilla games

raWfodog13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

Atlus is releasing their game one week before Erdtree, SE is releasing theirs one week after.

HZD released four days before Zelda, HFW released one week before Elden Ring.

It seems to me like they are still releasing their games too close to Erdtree.

Yuji Naka guilty of insider trading breaks silence to accuse Square Enix producer of lies

Yuji Naka was fined $1.2 million and given a suspended jail sentence for the crime.

I find his comments around how Balan turned out to be very insightful as to why the game is trash. He basically apologises for its existence

solideagle14d ago

can you please give some of us who don't know anything about this, a summary of what happened?

Chocoburger14d ago

Balan was knowingly rushed out by S-E, it had an extremely short dev cycle and was fairly low budget.
Naka was the game's director until near the end when he was fired or perhaps he quit, I forgot.

carrotcakeag14d ago

@Chocoburger Yeah they did fire and replace him which caused him to unload a bunch of rants about the company. The project only existed because of Naka in the first place, he convinced Square to give him one shot at making a platformer. They gave him an opportunity but pulled the rug out before he was done for reasons not explained.

Please o please don't turn dragon quest into final fantasy square enix we dont wont that. Dragon quest works well just as it I. Plus you'll piss off Japanese fans to.

jznrpg17d ago

Hopefully they don’t. From this it doesn’t sound like that is the case and development is just taking too long.
