I’m Not Mad, I’m Just Disappointed About Rayman Legends

GameInformer, Kyle Hilliard- "On the one hand, I am happy to see Rayman Legends coming to other consoles. I had the privilege of checking out the game at E3 last year and writing an extended hands-on preview of the game for a recent issue of the magazine. Rayman Legends is one of the games I am most excited to play this year, and I am happy that the available audience that will get to play it has effectively tripled. I am rooting for the Wii U, and this is a blow to the system’s health, but in the long run, I want more people to be able to play the games that I think will be great, rather than claim supreme exclusivity.

On the other hand, however, I am not happy that the finished game is going to stew for seven months while it gets ported."

I didn't realize it was a 7 month delay. That is terrible. They should of released it on Wii U and then released it for other systems when the port gets finished. Why do this? This is the crap Square did when they ported the Xbox version of FFXIII. Also, 7 months? So it will launch on Wii U and also on the PS4? That will make the Wii U version look double worse as it's getting released on a potential system that will be possibly 5 times as powerful. Ubi did this wrong. Wii U now. I love Rayman Origins. I have no problem waiting. Not fair to Wii U owners at all.

I think it involves Microsofts policy about them being able to deny a game being made/released (forget the exact wording) if there is no simutaneous release.

http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

This line explains it all.

"Titles for Xbox 360 must ship at least simultaneously with other video game platform, and must have at least feature and content parity on-disc with the other video game platform versions in all regions where the title is available," it reads.

"If these conditions are not met, Microsoft reserves the right to not allow the content to be released on Xbox 360."

thats pretty bogus too.. Im sure this gen wouldve had MUCH more content on PS3 had that policy not been in place.. "protecting inferior tech" is what sony said if im not mistaken.. I hope next gen, publishers say eff em if they try that crap.. & tho i prefer PS3 over wii u, i still wouldve liked to see this game release on time.. Thats the one game that made me want to buy the thing.. Now i have to wait forever to get something i want for it.. I might sell it to be honest.. @ least for a year or 2 & more good exclusives i want are released

Tzuno4084d ago

Ha! Smart asses that's why they sell they think like a boss.

Bimkoblerutso4085d ago (Edited 4085d ago )

I know, it's absolutely ridiculous. A lot of people are assuming that Wii U owners are just unreasonably angry that the game is not going to be exclusive, but really people are just pissed that they're going to have to wait another half a year to get a game that was originally in the "launch window," because Ubisoft lied their asses off.

I mean, I own all three systems and I'M a little pissed off...

CouldHaveYelledUiiW4085d ago (Edited 4085d ago )

Why not give it a Digital release on the WiiU?

In that way, it will only be available to the fans and the Hardcore.

That will lessen their shipping cost and they won't have to advertise for it Twice.

When they release it for all Systems then they can ship it out in Box form for WiiU as well.

They could use the Digital sells to fund the TV advertising.

by the time the game launches on PS3 and 360, it would feel like an "old" game, which is understandable. i guess that justifies a simultaneous launch, even if it sucks for the wii U owners.

the stupid thing was announce the game as a wii U exclusive in the first place, especially when you know that Rayman Origins came on all platforms imaginable.

im glad its coming to my platform of choice anyway, cant wait for it. Origins was beast!

profgerbik4085d ago (Edited 4085d ago )

I have other games to finish. I think I will be fine waiting life could be worse.

anyone disapointed with rayman legends delay, or its cross platformitty, is really just showing their true colors as a fan-boy/girl

Luthiens14085d ago

Stupid comment ^^ the backlash is due too a finished game that is now delayed seven months to please m$.

Temporary4085d ago

If you JUST finished purchasing a system and one of the games you were looking most forward to was 2 weeks from release, then they pushed it back 7 months just so it could get a multiconsole release...youd be mad too.

It shows how much they hare about their fanbase.

admiralvic4085d ago

What does this have to do with being a fanboy / girl?

I am quite certain NO ONE is angry about the cross platform news, but they're angry about how they handled the game / situation. Even plenty of people that don't own / won't support Nintendo agree that they should have at least released the finished Wii U version first.

BullyMangler4085d ago

what is the rush?
we should have our own projects. not be angry over a push back.

Will There Ever Be A New Rayman Game?

Ubisoft barely have a leg to stand on lately, so do they need to crack open the vaults and return platforming royalty to glory for some goodwill?

We need Rayman 4, they could make a great platformer game if they wanted. With the open hub levels and the like.

Better than relying on Rabbids and Assassins Creed all the time

Profchaos47d ago

Yeah agree id love a Rayman 2 style 3d platform game over another 2d platformer I know people loved legends but it never gelled with me same as Rayman 1 back in the day on PS it just felt like a average platformer with sonic and Mario offering something better on what was then last gen hardware

Terry_B48d ago

Yes..but I am sure it won't be the Rayman game fans want. Not from the company that is Ubisoft today.

mastershredder48d ago (Edited 48d ago )

Ancel is retired from games. His hoodlum/rabbid team are doing their own thing. It would not be the same if Ubisoft did.

Profchaos47d ago

Probably far more profitable to make low effort Rabbids games aimed at kids over a next Rayman

Chocoburger47d ago

Experience points, skill trees to fill up, level gating, endless menial tasks and side quests, constantly scrounging for resources. Always having to upgrade your gear. A.KA. "The Ubisoft effect".

No thanks, don't ruin Rayman's legacy.

Profchaos47d ago

Sure there will be it'll launch right alongside the next splinter cell

Rayman Legends - 10 Years of Legendary Platforming

Rayman Legends made its debut 10 years ago today, and has been launched on nearly every gaming platform since.

HankHill230d ago

Too bad Ubisoft only cares about live service games now. Maybe one day they'll make a new Rayman game.

Venoxn4g230d ago

Great games.. would be cool to get qn Origins remaster at least..I know that many of the levels are in Legends, but still

Outlawzz229d ago

Loved this game but wish they would create a new Rayman 3d game.
