Let's get one key point out of the way, just so we've said it early. The delay of Rayman Legends feels, to many current and prospective Wii U owners, like a cynical cash-grab of a business move. There are good old "anonymous sources", apparently developers on the game, stating that it's practically finished — it was arriving in a matter of weeks — but that word from on high came late to say that it was going multi-platform and hitting all systems at the same time. In fact, speaking to Digital Spy, Ubisoft public relations specialist Sarah Irvin confirmed that very thing.
Nintendo Life reacts to the Rayman Legends delay, but also considers the focus on "exclusivity" and the potential realities for upcoming titles such as The Wonderful 101 and LEGO City: Undercover. Also up for debate is the extent of the real impact - beyond initial online outrage - of the Rayman Legends news.
Hanzala from eXputer: "With Ubisoft's practices becoming increasingly anti-consumer lately, the destruction of The Sands of Time Remake looks almost inevitable."
Hey Ubi, here's a gun, don't shoot yourself in the foot.
*Ubi takes gun, aims at foot, empties clip*
Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
Hanzla from eXputer inquires: "If Xbox can care about preserving its games and legacy, what exactly is wrong with Nintendo, trying to kill game preservation single-handedly?"
Ahh yes the good old game preservation of saving all your games to a removable hhd on the Xbox 360, taking it round your mates house, setting up multiple tvs to
Be met with “save data corrupted, please re download”
Or how about removing 360 games
From the store
, download them now or else, and, better hope to god that save data doesn’t corrupt, or it’s lost for ever
Nice one ☝️
This is just a scammy PR move to distract from the fact they are going digital only and trying to push streaming and subscriptions only.
No gaming company has pushed harder to remove ownership than Microsoft.
Without discs there is no preservation, preservation can't be done by the rights holders it can only be done by the consumers, anything else is a lie.
Nobody wants this. Sales or the lack of it in the case of XBOX is very telling. I wonder how the adorably all digital series X will fare. Adorably dismal perhaps?
Only time will tell, but for from someone like me suspecting that Xbox is trying to gracefully exit the console market, that "forward compatibility" team is trying to get Xbox games playing on Windows PCs. I mean, it's nice that they're not planning on exiting with a "enjoy your games while the hardware still works" message, so that's nice. They still have a brand to protect via Microsoft so probably feel obligated to have a better exit strategy.
Either release the game next month or lose at least 250,000 sales, remember sonic racing sold best on wiiu accounting for 260,000 copies of the 960,000 sold ?
Basically Ubisoft did this with wii pretend to support the system then delay games until rival consoles hit ??? Ubi are paid by microsoft i think.
I was going to get this game when it came out this month, but now that it won't be out until September I'll be skipping it. There are other games I'm already planning on buying around that time.
To be frank I was excited for this game and I was pretty sure it was going to go multiplat anyway; all that I honestly don't mind. Delaying it like this is a dick move. My enthusiasm has been otherwise shot. I may still get the game, but my priorities have surely been altered at this point. There are other, more exciting games I'm looking forward to (also on multiple platforms) with less shady business practices surrounding them. Seriously, screw Ubisoft.
