How about a BETTER ending.

Nimblest-Assassin4092d ago (Edited 4092d ago )

I have no problems with the story, characters, or ending of AC3

My problem was the games mission structure was terrible. Man I feel like this game could have been incredible... but somehow Ubi messed everything up

I mean AC2 and ACB by far have the best mission structure. AC3 has the best gameplay (freerunning and combat), but AC3 just pissed me off because it had so much potential to be amazing, and it feels like ubisoft sabotaged it everytime during the main mission.

I mean, the side content in AC3 is really good, the peg leg stuff was awesome, the naval missions and the fort liberations.

But the problem is really the main mission structure and the fact the game feels so bogged down by mundane tasks its frustrating. I mean, the game goes apeshit with collectables, but the only ones that actually benifit you or reward you are the peg leg ones. The underground is pointless, it would have been so much better if it was like the tombs in AC2 and ACB. Also, no puzzles which I loved in AC2 and ACB. I mean, how did they forget so much that made the series so good in AC3?

Also ACB did full sych properly, it was a means to challenge the player, but was never intrusive on you. Now its there for the sake of a trophy or achievement. Atleast reward people with the patience to full synch the entire game.

I have 99% of AC3 done, with a 95% trophy completion, but I don't feel like finishing because of the fact the game wants me to run around and fill up the frontier map. I mean seriously?

I mean, in AC2 you felt progression. Ezio was getting better and better and the main mission went on, and you felt rewarded by getting new assassination techniques, and the game was well paced and teaches you all the games mechanics. AC3 ignores all this and gives you everything from the start. I mean Connor is better at killing people than Ezio ever was. But I feel like I didn't earn it.

Also you never feel rewarded by playing the main missions like you did in AC2 and ACB.

I wish they spaced AC out... I don't want it to become like COD or Madden.. I really hope they ditch this yearly release thing

AFTER READING ARTICLE

"Guillemot had little to say about the game other than it would star a new hero in a new time period--confirming that the franchise may abandon its previous style of iterative, yearly sequels"

PLEASE SPACE IT OUT... AS SOMEONE WHO MAKES IT NO SECRET THAT HE LOVES THESE GAMES... THIS IS ALL I REALLY WANT

Seraphim4092d ago

the annual installments have really killed this series. I absolutely love the game. 2 years until 2 dropped was perfect. THen we get the other 2 in the "trilogy" year after year until the next year sees AC3. By the time AC 2.3 released my interest was minimal. I barely played it. AC3, steelbook case still sitting sealed on my shelf. Quite honestly I have no clue if or when I'll actually play it. Sometimes an entry is so great you want to see another release next year. That's fine but in a 3 year time frame you should only see 2 games max. It's only for the better that a series take a year off here and there. It pains me to say this because I'm an action/adventure junkie and there's never enough of these games releasing. Often when one does 6 do. then next year nothing. But when you have a great series like this making it an annual title is nothing but bad business in the long run....

And since you're changing the Setting & Character, please chose wisely this time, i love the AC series but this AC3's setting and character was pretty boring.

redDevil874092d ago (Edited 4092d ago )

They also need to rebuild the stealth and combat mechanics from the ground up. They're dated as hell.

Walker4092d ago

Ignore conor and his story!

rpd1234092d ago (Edited 4092d ago )

I actually liked Connor and his story, and I'm sad we'll never see it continued, because they clearly left it open for sequels. It wasn't paced well at all, but it still had me hooked for the most part.

rpd1234092d ago

The more I think about it, the more I want it to be set in Asia somewhere.

PoE: Deadfire, Unless you have a or PS5 or an SSD don't bother, loading times are insane. A minute and a half to go into a room to investigate a desk in an inn and then an additional 1 1/2 minutes to leave the room and then load to leave the inn???

And they never fixed it.

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag vs Skull and Bones Video Comparison Is an Eye-Opener

Ubisoft has just released Skull and Bones on PC and consoles. And, from the looks of it, the game wasn’t received well by some gamers. Not only that but it appears that Skull and Bones can be worse than Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, a game that came out a decade ago.

I wanted a Black Flag sequel so bad. It's still my favorite AC entry. The fact that they ignored everything that we loved about that game in this "spiritual successor" is making me enjoy watching this game crash and burn quite a bit. Either do it right or don't do it at all. (I understand the legal binding they got themselves into with the Singapore government to release this game at all costs)

isarai65d ago

My thing is, if the Singapore govt was forcing you to do it at all cost, why not make what people wanted? How did ubi delay it for 5yrs, then again for 1yr and not just make a similar experience to black flag? How do you spend so much time and make so little?

Chocoburger64d ago

Ubisoft did make a sequel, Assassin's Creed: Rogue. It has a short campaign, and its packed with filler side quests for upgrades, but it's still a decent time.

It released on the same day as Assassin's Creed: Unity, so it was mostly forgotten.

11 years of development. Multiple restarts. All the while people have been saying they don't want some pirate game where you can't even get off your ship. 11 years of people telling Ubisoft all they want is a pirate game that's basically Black Flag without any of the assassin or animus stuff. Yet they still served up this trash that no one wanted, charged $70 for it, and had the balls to call it AAAA.

The Guillemot family honestly needs to be forced out of Ubisoft. They've doubled down on everything players don't like about their games, they want AI to create "rough drafts" of their stories rather than letting their writers do their jobs, and they literally do not give a shit what their playerbase actually wants. 5-6 years ago their stock was worth more than 4x what it's currently worth. The company is dying.

Jin_Sakai65d ago (Edited 65d ago )

What has happened to developers? How can you possible make a worse looking game 11 years later? It’s honestly mind boggling.

darksky64d ago

It's because the older developers were better at it. The new generation pass most of their exams by copying code from around the web so are not nearly as good at understanding what they are developing.

LucasRuinedChildhood64d ago (Edited 64d ago )

No, here's the truth:
https://www.channelnewsasia...
This was made in Singapore and it's the first game of this scale to be made there. Ubisoft would probably cancel it normally since it clearly wasn't shaping up well but they were getting government grants to try build up the industry there.

Do you really think game developers are radically different than just 10 years ago? And this game has been development since Black Flag released.

Using one crap game to trash a whole industry of developers is stupid. It's like saying "Alien Colonial Marines proves that game developers suck now."

yeahokwhatever64d ago

i know this to be at least part of the puzzle from experience.

senorfartcushion64d ago

It's the multiplayer aspect of the world. MP games look worse than single player games, period. Every comparison we keep seeing are for games like Gotham Knights, Suicide Squad and Skull and Bones. They all have multiplayer focusses.

SyntheticForm65d ago

God, I'd love a remake of Black Flag.

Yi-Long65d ago

Enough has been said about this game already. The gaming world shrugged when it was announced so many years ago, and instead of listening to all the criticisms from the community back then, Ubi just sailed on and kept making a game nobody really wanted. What a waste of money and effort.
