Aliens: Colonial Marines Preview | Gaming Capacity

GC:

“I’ve been stealing from Aliens my whole career” has been Gearbox’s President Randy Pitchfords favoured phrase since the Aliens: Colonial Marines was announced back in February 2008. Development of the project has obviously been slow, maybe even a little on/off but who really knows. All the fan’s care about is that the Aliens franchise is back and this time it means business.

Hurry up with the Wii U version already! This port I am going to wait to pick up for Wii U, but I think I might have to rent the PS3 version. I have been waiting forever for this game. I hope it lives up to the hype Gearbox has been pushing for this. We will soon know! :)

From what I saw in the last trailer, sadly this might even not be rent worthy :(

Ahhhh!! Don't say that!!!! :) Just kidding, I did not like the last trailer myself, BUT I have liked all of the rest of em.

The game looks good to me. Maybe not perfect but fun anyway. Good for co-op, and the multiplayer looks like it would at least be fun every once in awhile. I won't buy the season pass right away but I think I want the basic game and I'll keep an eye on the DLC.

Just to clarify guys I pre-ordered the game via Steam.

1upgamer99, I will try and dig some info out on the Wii U version for you.

Like someone mentioned in another post, this game will be most effective if there is more 'nothing happening' compared to 'more stuff happening.' Just going through the abandoned corridors, waiting for that tracker to go off and the suspense.

From what I've seen it looks like more stuff will be happening compared to the suspense of nothing happening, which will ruin it I think. Won't feel like the 'Alien' atmosphere.

Its a bit of a double edged sword.

The studio execs at Fox complained about Aliens because the first half had little action, not getting it was the pacing that made it so brilliant and when it ramped up it didnt stop.

In a game, especially a shooter, you will want to be keeping busy, having aliens to shoot, but then you wont have that , hold your breathe, listening for motion bleeps and scurrying in airvents vibe that made the movie so good.

Lets hope they've struck a nice balance, I still think Aliens 3 on SNES and Alien Trilogy on PSOne were the best games in the series.

Mostly...

Alien trilogy Was definately the best I played hopefully colonial marines can challenge that.

Only 4 days to wait now dude. We will just have to wait and see.

Roundtable: Games That Should Have Received a Sequel

Too many games aren't given a second shot. We at VGU choose which games we would love to see receive a sequel.

The Saboteur - criminally underrated and a fantastic mechanic of bringing colour back to Nazi-occupied Paris.

The article lists Bulletstorm, Sleeping Dogs, and Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Can't argue with any of those really, but I would add Resident Evil Operation Racoon City and Metal Gear Survive to that list. Both terrible games from good franchises.

Bulletstorm, I actually liked the gameplay but the atrocious writing and characters made me despise the game by the end of it.

I still play AvP on PS3 to this day. That game had fun multiplayer too.
