‘Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flags’ could be the next AC title, out this year

Just a while ago, Ubisoft announced that we’ll be getting a new Assassin’s Creed title in the next fiscal year. That’ll come out anywhere from October this year to September of 2014 but it might be sooner than you think.

I'm taking a wait and see approach. AC3 was the most disappointing game of the year for me last year, and yes, I remember that Mass Effect 3 and Resident Evil 6 were 2012 titles.

Simon_Brezhnev4088d ago

Yep i didnt like it either. Connor ruined the whole game. I bet it be a spin off unless its for PS4 if it comes out this year.

If its a spin off and Connor is the main character this will be the 1st AC i wont touch.

Nimblest-Assassin4088d ago (Edited 4088d ago )

IGN confirmed that Ubisoft was done with Connor and he wont star in the next AC.

I actually liked him too

I had no issues with Connor, granted he was little of a pussy but still... he wasn't that bad to not let him reappear.

AC3 was a great game, had many technical issues, but the game itself was pretty amazing. Especially the sea battles, it was the first time in a while i got awed by what they achieved with the ships and water physics. I found myself going back to the ship missions over and over again.

However, the frontier was gorgeous. great set design and graphics. I was more dissapointed with the in town stuff. Snoozefest.

kaozgamer4088d ago

connor was alright. but that ending was completely stupid. you go through all that trouble for it to end like that? thought ubisoft promised that ac3 answer all of our questions...

I'm about 60-70% complete with the Game and I haven't been compelled to play it again since about 5 days after it was released.

I like the story and I want to see what happens, but everything is so tedious and it's like I'm just trying to get through it, which is not a sign of a fun game.

ironfist924088d ago

Lets freaking hope so. I guess they mustve been inspired by the great Naval battle system they had.

Plus, after the cancellation of Armada of the Damned, we havent had any good Pirate Sandbox/RPG games at all...

KaBaW4088d ago

I agree, I actually really liked the Naval battles in the game.
I would've liked for there to have been more to do with them.
Even if there was like a free roam and could attack ships..

jony_dols4088d ago

Turn of the 19th Century; Themes such as American Exceptionalism & the breakup of Imperialistic Europe, with cities such as art-deco Paris, industrial Liverpool & tsarist Moscow. Mixed with pre-WW1 steampunk-esque weapons & gadgets.

That's an AC that I'd like to play.

Oh_Yeah4088d ago

Pirates, Samurais, or Vikings.. All sound good for the next ac.

I actually enjoyed AC3 over the past ones. To me the setting was more exciting, there was much to do beside the main story (Naval, Homestead, mini-games, side missions, crafting (enabling you to fire four times)), the way the story were told and the scenery was way more detailed.
Connor never bothered me either, and I had minimal bugs. Desmond's ending was total crap though.

I guess the love I had for AC3 made me blind to its mistakes.

I'm guessing the next AC will be about the french revolution as it was inspired by the american revolution. If the main character is Connor again I hope he evolves and is not as ignorant as he were in AC3.

phantomexe4088d ago (Edited 4088d ago )

I see us getting an AC game this year but it won't be AC4. Connor going come back one more time i think before AC4. Him and avalein perhapes together for this next one. I enjoyed AC3 as well in fact it's my favorite.

FunkMacNasty4087d ago

Im with you Mykky, I loved AC3. I thought Connor was a great character. I loved the way that he strived for peace and non-violent resolutions, but in the end he would kill to protect his tribe and his land. Ya gotta respect that.

Also agree that the graphics and storytelling were also fantastic... and yes, I thought Desmonds story was shite as well

Gamer19824088d ago

Still cannot See AC4 out this year though. We will see 2 or 3 spin offs first like with AC3 Ubisoft love to milk there games.

x5exotic4088d ago

After AC2, all AC games are like twilight to me now. Many, all of them suck, unnecessary.

IAmLee4088d ago

Agreed. You don't become an assassin until over way through the game, and even then you don't do much 'assassinating'

8bitHero4087d ago

@kaoz
i completely agree, while the game was pretty disappointing what was pulling me through was the thought of the ending. the entire time i thought to myself "this is going to be so great, finally the trilogy ends, cant wait till i finally get there!"(note: unlike many others, my favorite part about AC was the modern day part, even if dismond was kind of a wimp).
after that ending it was clear to me that ubi doesnt give two shits about the story. i understand that they wanted to continue the AC series but they still could've done that by neatly finishing up the modern day aspect(the part that the majority dont even like) and continuing the series w/ the animus(like Liberations)

long story short, I'm done with AC. Like Altier & Ezio say, "I've seen enough for one life."

Root4088d ago (Edited 4088d ago )

Well if it had a subtitle it wouldn't be AC4 now would it

Besides I hope it's not with Connor and the American Revolution. Connor sucked completely

Oh and if it IS pirate themed which i have to admit "Black Flags" does sound it then that means a lot of naval battles on the seas....I must be the only one who hated the naval battle missions. They were cool at first but felt like a chore

N311V4088d ago

You're not the only one. Although I felt the whole game was boring, really lost its way.

Mutant-Spud4088d ago (Edited 4088d ago )

Black Flags might refer to Anarchism, you could see how that plotline might work, Anarchists were at their most active in the 19th and early 20th century and they did their share of political assassinations.

E32013 well "surprisingly" get another assassians creed, you know I used to be a huge fan but once ubisoft started milking ac and neglecting pop and bg&e, I just could care less for the series anymore, heck I had to force myself to beat the last game.

EDIT: let me guess disagrees are from blind assassians creed fanboys

N311V4088d ago

I'm disagree with your reason not that you couldn't care less. I'm not excited for AC4 because AC3 sucked, I couldn't care less about POP and BG&E.

edenianrain4088d ago

Thats a dumb reason to disagree, my main point was that ac is milked to death and the games are getting boring, besides I could care less if you dont like pop or bg&e,but you do know that you would not have assassians creed had it not been for prince of Persia.

AngelicIceDiamond4088d ago

They are being milked, but developers have their "rotation" of games that have to meet a release in a given period.

The only thing I see Activision rotating is the COD series. While EA rotates Deadspace, Medal Of Honor (out of rotation) Battlefield coming (next year) ME4 ( maybe fall of 2014)Dragon Age (Spring of next year.

Next gen is upon us and new Ips are being made from EA a Ubisoft and hopefully Activision.

TotalHitman4088d ago

Please let it be set in Victorian London. Or even a territory in the British Empire for that matter!

Eamon4088d ago

I strongly suspect that the next one will be during the French Revolution.

Ubisoft's Recent Antics Have Me Fearful For The Sands of Time Remake

Hanzala from eXputer: "With Ubisoft's practices becoming increasingly anti-consumer lately, the destruction of The Sands of Time Remake looks almost inevitable."

Man the industry just keeps on going with all this bs and to think this is ubisoft again remember what happened with that skull bones team same crap.
https://www.theverge.com/20...

This game will be tossed out broken unplolished with a bloated budget trying to be cod but will fail sense ubi can get there shit in order. If i was me i would have gotten rid of this boys club asap there is alot looking for work out there.

Every industry has these issues

Some companies I’ve worked for were great and some were toxic as hell (UPS when I was a teenager was extremely toxic and I have heard it still is) It all starts at the top. They either hold people accountable , set standards and treat people with respect or the crap rolls downhill.
