Ugh review sites and their scores....a 10/10? Really? I have played the demo, I have played the other 2 games in the series, I know of EAs track record as a company, and I have read enough about this game online to know that it simply CANNOT be a 10/10 game. I will be the first to admit that I have not played DS3 yet, but how the hell can it be a 10? a 10!!!! Think about what a 10 calibur game is for a second. It's sites like this that have ruined the 1-10 scale for game reviews

A review is a critical evaluation of something by critic. A review simply encapsulates the reviewer's feelings about the game.

Not your feelings or my feelings, but his/hers. And if your feelings happen to line up with his/hers, then, great! If not ...

Haha I knew someone was going to come back with this canned response. If we're going by that logic then I guess it's possible these folks believe every big name title that has come out in the past several months is the greatest game ever. Look at their site, they rarely don't give out anything less than a 9.5/10 for their reviews. Is it POSSIBLE they reeeeeeeally love every game that comes out that much? I suppose so, not very likely though. OR is it possible they just give big name titles good reviews for web traffic? Hmmmmmm I'll let you think about that one

Well as a long time fan of the series, it's my favourite series this gen actually, I'd give it a 10 as well from what I've played of it.

The full game is nothing like the demo, the demo is a poor representation of the full game.

I've been playing it for over four hours and I'm loving it, it's very much still the Dead Space we all know and love.

So your basicaly giving it a good score because it's your favorite franchise this gen....this is exactly what reviewers seem to be doing, basing it on the brand name and their love for it rather then the game it's self and does it hold up to the past games which made the game what it is

No it doesn't, necessarily. Some sites use 10/10 to mean a perfect unattainable nirvana, whereas others use it to denote that it's an essential purchase if you like the genre or own the console. The number means absolutely nothing unless you take it in context: i.e. the individual publication's review criteria.

But, erm, I do sort of agree with you, it is rather high.

A review is an opinion, correct? This is why you READ the ARTICLE. It will put the score into CONTEXT. 10/10 just means the little flaws dont take away from the game, and it is a must play title. You should play it, it is THAT good.

Umm i'm sorry but the best Dead Space game was the first one. When EA & Visceral decided to deviate from the formula that made the first game one of the most frightening experiences to a more action oriented game it lost what made the game special.

Dead Space 2 has higher critical acclaim then 1 and improves on everything. This "purist" act on N4G is getting old. I'll lend you my DeLorean so you can go back to the PS1 era and salivate over RE2 tank controls some more.

That is your opinion & i have mine. I'm not sure where you are coming from with that 'purist' remark. And those RE2 tank controls was in a better game than the mediocre stuff we often get nowadays.

I'm just saying that Dead Space 1 felt more claustrophobic thus giving the player a greater sense of being alone. I have no doubt Dead Space 2 was a more critical acclaim game however for me it didn't have that same reaction that the first game pulled off.
