From the moment Sony announced their February 20th event, the news reports have all came to the idea that the event will be the announcement of the PS4. Most of this information originates from a Wall Street Journal article that cites “sources” but nothing more. There is a possibility this announcement will not be the big PS4 reveal everyone is expecting.
Waiting a decade for new instalments in franchises as massive as Fallout and Elder Scrolls feels like a waste.
Microsoft have Obsidian but I feel it's Bethesda who just don't want to play ball as they've always said they want to do it themselves.
Once MS bought Zenimax in 2020 they should have put the Outer Worlds 2 on the back burner, allow Bethesda to finish off its own Space RPG with Starfield (despite totally different tone why have two in your first party portfolio with two developers who's gameplay is a tad similar) and got Obsidian for one of their projects to make a spiritual successor to New Vegas.
When the Elder Scrolls VI is finished Bethesda can then onto the main numbered Fallout 5 themselves.
The Outer Worlds 2 started development in 2019 so putting it on the back burner wouldn't have been the end of the world, they'd have always come back to it once Fallout was done and it would have been nicely spaced out from Starfields release once they had most likely stopped supporting it and all the expansions were released.
If they did this back in 2020 when they bought Zenimax and the game had a good, steady 4 - 5 years development, you might have seen it release in 2025.
We are literally going to be waiting until 2030 at the very earliest for Fallout 5 and all they seem bothered about is pushing Fallout 76.
Athenian Rhapsody is a JRPG with a difference: alongside turn-based combat & exploration, you'll need to complete WarioWare-style microgames.
Originally launched in 2011, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is coming to Nintendo Switch, so It's time to look back at the original.
Still have my ps3 copies. Bought it at launch and another one when I found it cheap and in perfect condition about 10 years ago. I wouldn’t buy it on Switch but if they made a PS5 version I would. I still have one of my PS3 Fats hooked up so good to go either way.
Id play it again on the switch. I wished my 360 version was bc but this is still a good way to play.
Blasphemy
While anything is possible, I'd like to hear Sony announce the PS4.
I'm telling you, if there's no PS4 in Feb 20 there will be blood! And not just from the fans but the media too is gonna tear them apart if they don't show something that blow minds.
No? Really? There is a possibility that it might not be a PS4.Oh my God are you sure. Really? I never even thought that for a second. But wait. There is also a chance it is the PS4. So you are saying their could be different possibilities. Hmmmmm...... very clever.Anyway Sony is inviting investors and the press and talking about the futire. Whatever they are going to show it is obviously very important or they could have easily just posted it on the internet. And a PS4 is the most important thing it could be at the moment. Why would they call them out to show Gaikai or a price drop or a new game? That makes no sense. And your assumption about the PS3 is the same thing people keep saying.Sony still had the PS2 out while they introduced the PS2 and were still making games for it.Why do you automatically assume that just because the PS3 is still being paid attention to, a new system is out of the question? If they release the PS4 it won't sell immediately so they still need a source of income.
I would go on but all your reasons are the same lame reasons people have been giving since we heard about the PS4. And they can be easily argued. Why do you keep thinking Sony is showing Gaikai? We already know about it.Why would they gather everyone together just to talk about that? They could have just posted it's features on the internet were everyone can see it.And like someone else pointed out these things are usually about hardware.Games, price drops and Gaikai are not hardware
The PS3 is the PS4.
The PS4 is also the PS4.
