Boycott Dead Space 3?

EA's a cash whore, they do the same thing with their Need for Speed games, practically every NFS game that has come out allows you to buy timesaver packs and unlock all cars and tracks. It's just another source of revenue for people with aren't hardcore gamers and just want to experience whatever they want whenever they want, and don't care to drive all the slow cars for hours on end before they can get any fast ones. I would never buy it but who cares if someone else wants to? Get a life, seriously. The only time this is a bad thing is if it's nearly impossible to get everything in the game unlocked without paying for it, and EA hasn't done there here, so stop crying you babies.

Exactly. Think logically ppl. This isnt bad, it is brilliant. What i hate is forcing me to pay for equipment that someone CANNOT get in game. AAA titles r expensive to make. The industry is saturated and the economy isnt helping. Many of our fav IPs may not make it to next gen. Also, ppl are not buying many games cuz they dont have the time to play everything. This dlc u CAN get in game by playing it. So what are u boycotting? If they make a few million by speeding up the process for those who want to pay, who cares. It isnt multiplayer, it wont affect you and it may earn the company a few extra million, keep money circulating and ppl working.

Now, dragons dogmas dlc was basically pointless cuz it was almost all underpowered but i bought it to support them so they can make another one cuz i loved it. U know what i do for games i dont like? I've played all the games before this one, but i'm not buying this one because it is no longer survival horror. It's an action game. It's not for the fans of the series whatsoever.

I had already added all EA games to my shitlist since the horrible Battlefield 3 port anyways. No EA, Activision Blizzard, Crapcom or Nintendo games for this guy. Bunch of casual focused crap that hasn't even fixed major glaring flaws or is missing important launch features that they sell off later as DLC.

I feel sorry for anyone who trusts a review made by a magazine run by Gamestop. They're in the business of selling games idiot. Look back at how they gave RAGE a 9.something and look how horrible it was. They have 0 credibility. IN the same month they gave Dark Souls and 8. Look at all the positive reception that game has. Why? Because EA probably already have about 1 million pre-orders for the game across all platforms. To put it another way over the course of the next 12 months they will sell over 1 million copies of the game. 3 million copies at least.

The Dead Space franchise is in decline, Dead Space 2 didn't even sell 3 million. Current pre-orders are under 250,000 for the US and that's it's biggest market.

DS3 won't even get half the pre orders you state, and funny thing about that is pre-orders can be cancelled. Boycotting does work, if people actually do it, if not then well it's not boycotting is it?

Series in decline, so EA come up with one last way of milking the suckers. Who are the same people who just lie back and take it.

How do the micro transaction in Dead Space 3 affect you in any way?

All content is available through normal play. You do not miss out on anything through ignoring the micro transactions. Therefore, you can play the game and pretend they don't exist if you wish and still get the full experience.

However, for some people who may not have the same time or skill necessary to unlock these things, this is an optional way for them to be able to see everything the game has to offer.

I am completing a PhD at the moment, and did not have time to unlock every costume in DmC. I was very happy to see the option to pay $4 to unlock them immediately so I would not miss out on seeing them in my limited playtime.

The fact that someone else may make use of this has NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER on your own experience. So why should you care what other people do?

Play the game without them if you wish. I will too. But how on earth is it unfair when it doesn't affect your game at all?

The concern for me is that while you can get them without paying, they are going to make it next to impossible to do to make you eventually give up and pay. Perhaps in a normal situation you would have had to grind for an hour or so, but now EA might push that up to 5 or 6 hours to deter people from even trying.

This is of course not a known quantity, just my fear.

I don't see a reason to unless you're forced to buy things that add more content to the game that should have been there for free. IIRC, Dead Space 2 had a bunch of DLC that just made the game easier...nothing you absolutely required. It takes away from the challenge, anyway.

Its not even Dead Space. The aesthetics, the atmsophere, where is space in the promos or lets say where is the terrifying/deeply chilling space?

Dead Space 3 brings nothing new to the table besides, tweaks, loot , a little more customization. Its trying to be an , rpg, a third person shooter, a partially horror game and halfway zombie like feel. DEAD SPACE the original brought something fresh into the game industry, dead space 2 tweaked it and well did an ok job but it wasnt anything new. Dead SPace 3 is just EA's last cash grab. It brings nothing new to the genre or video games or even in dead space besides, setting, loot etc etc tweaks

Microtransaction is an issue here of course but thats not the main issue. The game is not dead space.

What part of it was Gears? I played the demo several times both in SP and in Co-op and didn't experience anything such as that.

What? There are a few human enemies? Doesn't it make sense that eventually you would encounter them in the story? They are not the main opponent.

Some people that managed to get the game early stated they do not appear in most chapters. The ones I encountered in the demo were too busy acting like a meal for necromorphs to cause me much trouble. And it was interesting to see them die and immeditately take over.

What's next? The demo was part of the one deceptive chapter designed by EA to make you think they had gone away from Dead Space?

No. What is likely is that the minute more than a crazy human showed up in the Dead Space 3, the gaming press (ha ha ha) started bawling their eyes out and everyone jumped on the sheep wagon for a wild ride to Stupidville. Yes the gaming press (ha ha ha) are so damned reliable let's all get on board with whatever they say and follow that 14 year old pied piper journalist right off the cliffs of common sense.

Boycott Dead Space 3 for Six weeks because of a feature that doesn't affect you? Remember kids, REAL Dead Space isn't about Multiplayer, right? That would be blasphemous for the series to evolve. These guys need to change their diapers and find another line of entertainment.

These content shortcuts used to be available in past generation games simply by introducing cheats (I still remember some of the Tony Hawk ones).
The only change now is that people who wish to cheat their way to the unlocked content without effort have to pay, and people who take the ordinary unlock route do not. Sounds fair.

If people want to to pay to unlock stuff then good for them. It's a choice - and choice is good.

There's a lot of people who don't want to jump through hoops to unlock stuff, and others just want to have fun with the best weapons etc as quickly as possible.

As long as the micro-transaction stuff can also be unlocked for free within the game then I don't care. It will only be a problem if games become pay to win.

Exactly. If it gets out of hand and it becomes available for all games, for items that you need to complete the game that are too hard to get ingame, then it's a problem.

But for people like me who doesn't have the time to go grind for items then this can be good. I have bought so many games in the last 6 months and never got to play them yet. I might consider buying an item or two to speed me through Dead Space 3. I don't have as much time as these kids and manchilds.

This will only be a problem for me if the grind to scavenge items is unacceptably long. If playing the game feels normal to me then I'll pay no attention to the microtransactions or DLC for the scavenger bot. If I do feel that I'm being "encouraged" to use microtransactions via a long grind then I'll be PISSED! Only one way to find out though.

Cutting endings and charging for them is totally different than what is going on here.

Your taking a stab at EA and BioWare for ME3 and even then they didn't sell the ending.

If you don't feel like buying the content then don't...no one is forcing you and the content has not been pulled out of the game...it's all still in the game.

Then you should have started your boycott of EA much earlier. They have been selling "time saving" unlock DLC for a long time for most of their games. In NFS, Battlefield and so on you could get a head start with all kits or cars unlocked by putting money down.

But in fairness I do agree EA have taken the whole concept too far now with in-game micro-transactions. How does this affect the games balance? Have they made it harder to play so more people will be tempted to part with their cash? Will this make the game a grind for non paying gamers?
