Well of course. It's a new age, the music industry is becoming increasingly Kickstarter and PledgeMusic oriented, so I can't see why any other media form wouldn't do the same. A couple bands that had big releases that I listen to are now doing their own funding programs. It just makes sense.

I wish I'd have come up with this business model, it's a smart one.

Kickstarter is a fantastic idea that is starting to take hold.

Devs can make the product they want without publishers dictating.

Classic franchise like Elite , Broken Sword , Populous (GODUS) and Leisure Suit Larry are all going to see the light of day again because of this great project.

Star Citizen aint a classic game, but Chris Roberts the dev of the Wing Commander games is an old school dev, and its great to see the old school creators back on the scene again.

And i do think that the console companies should help them out and get them on board without it costing them an arm and a leg.

Lol, I find this ironic. The whole reason those projects got funded was because the console companies and the big publishers were too closed and averse to some old school fans desires in the name of making profit.

So now if those projects are successful they might want to cash in? Some project might, but most projects won't go to console because the consoles cater to the masses while those projects cater to a group of fans. The PC will always be the open platform and home to most innovation.

I believe I read that one of the big publishers even had the audacity to ask a team to make a kickstarter campaign and if it gets funded they will pick the franchise T_T

This is a great space exploration game.

Markdn183d ago

Shame it's no longer supported though, :(

anast183d ago

A revive might be needed.

MrNinosan183d ago (Edited 183d ago )

What do you mean by quietly?
They announced it last week along the other games that was released yesterday on PS+ Extra/Premium.

GamerRN182d ago

They are trying to make it look like a casual drop, while trying to make it look like it outshines Starfield.

ModsDoBetter183d ago

Great game, sadly abandoned by the developers due to the different version it ran compared to PC.

Plenty of hours to be had, we just miss out on a bunch of cool features and story development compared to PC players.

raWfodog183d ago

I was bummed when they announced they wouldn’t be bringing Odyssey to consoles. That was when I really began losing active interest in the game. Up until then, I already had about 800 hours invested in the game.

PunksOnN4G183d ago

Nah I'm good this the dev team that had console plans then decided not to and only work on the PC version why would I support a trash company

z2g183d ago (Edited 183d ago )

its ok. its def a pc game that made its way to console randomly. been out for a few years so its not exactly "new".
