OK. Did anyone here even read the article? You guys are retarded. Your not paying for anything that adds to the story or will make you miss out on anything. It's to get a head start. For new players. None of this is required to play the story. None of those adds to the story. None of this stuff required to enjoy the game. You don't need to drop another 50-60 dollars to enjoy the full game. NO. It's all optional for peole have little time to play or new players who find the game hard to play.

I agree it is wrong having all that dlc on day one and it is a rip off, but you don't have to buy the dlc. It's items you unlock from playing the game and can find them in game, it's there for people who don't want to grind through and try and find the items. It makes no difference or not if you get it, because you will get the items if you play through dead space

You are right, it is optional. But you can't deny that it is getting worse with each passing game release. Pretty soon the line between optional and the value of a finished product will blur. At that point it will be too late and people will wonder how gaming got to this point.

Look at how much things changed with the nickel and diming just within this generation. The tactics to squeeze as much out of the consumer as possible WILL get more brazen in the future if we let it slide today.

Ah c'mon, don't be like that, EA don't represent the gaming sub culture any more than Warner Bros represent the film appreciation scene. Gaming is one of the cheapest hobbies around if you approach it in a thrifty way, some people just have to have the latest and the best of everything as status symbols, those are the people this type of marketing targets. I'll get Dead Space 3 second hand for $20 in six months and as with most pre owned games I buy the codes included for the online pass and whatnot will still be valid. I bought the Sleeping Dogs and Shift 2 special editions second hand last week and they both still had valid codes for the preorder bonuses, I can't think of a S/H game I've bought where this hasn't been the case.

It's only bonus content, not story related dlc. Why all the hate?? Almost every game has this types of bonus content nowadays,things like bonus costumes ,golden guns special abilities etc... You only pay for them if u want, it's not like you going to miss anything from the games story if you don't!!

You're right, but the whiners won't see it that way. Games, at least the games "hardcore" gamers want, are getting more and more expensive to make. To keep from raising the price of the basic game they sell us optional stuff. It's wrong to make us buy the end of the story as DLC, but as far as I can tell DS3's DLC is entirely optional.

I also have to point out once again that a certain section of the gamer population has sent a very clear signal that it's ok to charge for things that have been traditionally free. Playing online for instance. What did those people expect to happen? A business sees that willingness to pay and says "Hmmm I wonder what else they'll pay extra for?". It's just business, and no one is forcing consumers to play along.

Wake up, if you've been buying DLC you have been paying over 100 dollars for games for years. BF3, COD, all of them. Those two games alone hit 110 dollars with two simple purchases....

They cry about game sales slumping, then report high profits.... you want both? Quit selling half arsed games with DLC that should have been on the disc to begin with!

This specific thing is just for the idiots that don't want to actually play the game ,and sadly it sells. Otherwise EA would quit doing it.....

The arguement that its ok to have an option for those that don't want to grind can pay for it does not make sense. Why should anyone have to pay to unlock items earlier? If you pay full price for a game then this type of dlc should not be allowed, it should be an ingame option to unlock items early without having to pay and if the very presence of those items breaks the game or makes it much easier then achievements/trophies should be turned off when using those items, like when cheat codes are used.

Paying for early access to ingame items is digital theft, plain and simple and should not be tolerated.

Instead of just reading the title, do some research... All the DLC is basically guns and armor for people new to the series or if you're garbage at Dead Space and need help. This isn't Mass Effect 3 or any Capcom game. It's all optional items that you can basically craft yourself later in the game but if you want a head start you can buy them.

Game journalism is bad, but sometimes I think the people commenting on n4g are worse.

The items are for people who are new to the series who need help. The developers discussed this in an interview last week once the DLC fiasco started. It's called reading, try it sometime.

Also... It's all optional things that don't add anything content wise to the game. It's not like buying any of the DLC will somehow alter your game or add a different ending.
