What Will Happen to the Saints Row Franchise?

GamerFitNation: Now that THQ Inc. has sold off all of its properties, what is going to happen to the franchise that we love the most, Saints Row? The developing studios will most likely be kept relatively intact, but as with most changes in ownership, some people are going to lose their jobs, so how is that going to affect the games that are created? And it’s not going to be just Saints Row we have to worry about, but the smaller series that were sold as well. Even though the entire studio was sold, new ownership can change things around, and we as gamers can only hope that the studios will be allowed to do what they do best.

WWE will be made by an excellent company

knowyourstuff4099d ago

Take Two will publish, the same devs who make all those 2K sports games will develop the game, so really it's unknown at this point. Given how much the industry has reached out to the people at THQ, it's likely some of the people working on the last THQ WWE games will wind up working on the team that makes the next WWE game for 2K games given all of their experience with making specifically wrestling games year after year, it wouldn't surprise me if EA picked a bunch of them up.

aglot894100d ago

Who cares? THQ and Volition butchered Saints Row: The Third to the point where they made an April Fools joke about DLC, then said it was true, then said it would be DLC for SR: The Third, then decided that it will be a standalone title THEN decided it will be apart of the next Saints Row game.

Give us Saints Row 2 with some of the new additions to Saints Row: The Third, including the online multiplayer and you will win back this Saints Row fanboy.

FarCryLover1824100d ago

Nothing will happen to it. It will continue as planned. The people at Deep Silver have also said that they will get to continue to be themselves. I think they are in good hands.

Soldierone4100d ago

Saints Row 4 will be awesome, then Koch will attempt to milk the franchise to death. Probably use it as a launching ground to try and become a major publisher.

aglot894100d ago

Hasn't it already been milked? I know, 3 games is nothing compared to other video game franchises and reboots, but Saints Row: The Third is a great example of milking.

Have you seen the number of add-ons that game had and how pointless the majority of them were?

-MD-4100d ago

A bunch of pointless costume DLC isn't the same thing as milking a franchise. I'd rather see a bunch of garbage DLC that I have no interest in wasting money on than yearly rehashes that burn me out in no time.

aglot894100d ago

@-MD- Garbage DLC = production costs. Guess what happened to THQ? They went bankrupt. Put two and two together and you can paint a picture as to one of the many ways how THQ buried themselves into debt.

Also, define "yearly rehashes that burn me out in no time." because it sounds to me like you are buying these games year after year, but also complaining about them releasing games year after year.

Instead of spending time and money on costume add-ons, they could spend that time and money on things to improve their game and look at possibilities for the next installment.

Slightly disappointing game but Wo Long had a good creator. I was impressed by Oblivion back in what 05, 06? But the worst i have ever seen, clearly, Valheim.

ModsDoBetter359d ago

What was up with Wo Long?

Not looked at any reviews and did download it on my Xbox before I sold the console but never got around to playing it. Saw it drop in price on PS5 and was thinking of picking it up.

RE: Character creation

Oblivion hold a special place for me, when it came out on PS3, it was the first game of its kind that I had played and the character creator took was amazing.

I do like Monster Hunter: World & FFXIV, personally.
Cyberpunk did good in that department, despite its numerous flaws.

IamTylerDurden1359d ago

I played Oblivion day 1 on 360 and was impressed with the creator. Damn near 20 yrs ago, it was impressive at the time. Special game, unfortunately 90% of current gamers on social media have not a clue about the older stuff. Elder Scrolls is just Skyrim to many. They know not of Gothic and the old guard that paved the way. Flimsy ass rhetoric and recycled opinions about the same bs is what garners attention. Meme culture. Insight and intellect hold no place on the current day internet. Fuck likes, follows, BS. I say what i believe is relevant, what i'm interested in, and following means fuck all bc i don't respect 99% of the ppl online anyway.

For the "TLDR" bs. I'ma not space it out on purpose. Fuck you very much folks.

Honestly the one I remember being easiest and flexible enough to make any character I imagined was the PS2 WWE games, and Saints Row 2. I did really enjoy Dragons dogmas character creation too

I was gonna mention Black Desert but the game is horrible so...

Creator was the best part.

Lol CP 2077 is one of the easiest and less detailed editors around. It's all a mish-mash of presets.

The Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak from the Gran Turismo series

Nissan Skyline from Need for Speed Underground

Motorcycle Steamroller from Dead Rising 3

And finally a car you never drive but saves your ass over and over : Honey Badger from COD MW2

Gardenia464d ago

I was thinking of Mad Max. That V8 felt really good to drive around in, especially with upgrades.

dumahim464d ago

No one liked the Batmobile in Arkham Knight. Top 10?

toxic-inferno464d ago

I don't know... It was a strange addition to the game, and the parts of the game where you had to fight in it were tedious. But driving it around Gotham felt brilliant.
