Though Disney Infinity certainly looks promising, the strange lack of female characters and female-oriented properties is really disheartening. Smart When Shouting examines why this is and questions why, for a company known for their Princesses, Disney's new, major game has nothing targeted at girls.
The toys-to-life genre has died out, but the concept of Disney Infinity should live on in another genre since it provides a wild crossover for fans.
There is a huge gap in the market at the moment. There aren’t many (if any) toys-to-life games available for the two consoles yet. A reboot or remake of the game would work so well, especially with Disney’s current roster of characters, films and TV shows.
Did Disney sell the rights to Activision? I never knew they had the rights to Disney Infinity.
They DO have the rights to Skylanders though.
Plus there's a financial reason every publisher gave up on the "toys to life" thing. So I doubt they'll revive any of them.
Is it possible Disney Infinity or other toys to games could return, but I'll be honest I really hope they don't come back.
These kinds of games are just another way for the game studios to nickle and dime you for every cent you have.
Disney Infinity was a fun game I could play with my kid back in the day. I still have it and the 100+ toys and yes, it works on PS5. But my kid is a teenager now and we've both moved on to more serious games.
Take a look at the rise and fall of Toys-To-Life games and see the magic it brought into everyone's home with games like Skylanders.
Pretttty sure saw Mrs. Incredible in there. She's like the cool mom you let into your fort to give you cookies though. Also Jessie and Violet but yeah its strange how like Sally from Nightmare b4 Xmas and Elizabeth Swann arent there...but given the fact this game doesnt shy away from being a cash whore they'll be adon characters/
Most iconic characters are male, so that's not really surprising. Also I think if we only saw the princesses... what do you want to bet this article would be "Why doesn't Disney Infinity show females in other roles?"
Um... multiple girls already in just the first wave. Jesse from Toy Story and Rapunzel, at minimum, will surely immediately follow.

Yeah since we have seen first hand how well received female characters are in video games. Not by males mind you but by females. Every female character gets torn to pieces on how she conforms to some sexist oversexualized patriarhical ideal even when there is no such thing to be found. The the developers get attacked as sexist bigoted misogynists. Better omit them altogether. Ommision attracts less attention.
What about the old classics? they're really missing out on a huge market by not including ariel, cinderella, snow white, belle, alice ect. I imagine they'll be included at some point though
also, sully from monsters inc looks weird :(
