AC 3 needed extra months to be polished upeven though they worked on it for a while. And GTA is sure to be mush larger than AC3 so although I am a little bummded. The world aint over, And at the end of the day we'll have a great polished game.

It's RS I have 100% confidence, GTA 5 will be 95 and above out of 100. Haters can hate but when GTA4 came out it was the best open world game, tha RS passed itself when they did RDR now everything they have learned from both and MP3 woll be passed on to GTA5.

2 games that gain the mst are last of us and fuse. Fuse was delayed now EA can put it out without any major competition.

I think this is because they want to launch it near the nex-gen release too. Which I genuinely believe there making. Do you seriously believe they would release on this close to the launch of new consoles and expect maximum sales? Rockstar are all about MAXIMUM sales. Can you think of another logical reason for launching in mid September? If they give themselves enough of a window before the next gen consoles launch they will most certainly get buyers to have something on their current system even with a next gen console launching a month to 2 months out. Also... we don't know yet on the issue of BC. IF one of both consoles have BC baked in this may be a non-issue as they will not be fearful of consumers passing up on their title. PLUS...maybe they can launch a texture pack with the game for next gen console buyers?

Its just way too odd of a launch window for both GTA and SC for their not to be something going on in terms of new hardware. Both games could easily normally launch closer to holiday time frames.

Oh im certain on the hardware- the announcement that Battlefield 4 wont be out till early 2014 makes me 100% certain of that- but Rockstar are taking a risk, if they go next gen port route then they are up against specifically designed next gen games like Watch Dogs- if they don't then they better pray backwards Compatability will be available, and with september as the start time for universities and schools etc many people may not have the money to spend on a new game and a next gen console- after all their target market is 18+ for day one buys, because any parents that will buy it for thier little kids (wrong or right) usually wait till xmas etc it seems so....

But I'm seriously wondering why that is so. Look, we are all pretty much sure that we'll get new consoles this year. Now GTA 5 is THE biggest game and pretty much the only game that has a set release date for the second half of this year. Now combine that with the EA story about BF and FIFA, and the upcoming E3 where we expect the new consoles to be presented. Honestly, to me it starts to look like they have decided to either go for a release on the next gen consoles only, or maybe do it like TLoZ Twilight Princess did and have the game available on the new and the old consoles.

They must release it for next gen consoles, they just have to, otherwise it's really hard for me to think of a plausible reason for this, cause they've been working on the game for so long and I doubt that they do only wanna polish the game, cause if the game comes out for the old consoles only and the new cosnoles will launch around fall, the game MIGHT be going under in all the excitement for the next gen consoles.

Honestly, this is kind of a shocker, but things just got more and more interesting, and hey, I got enough other awesome games to play in the first half of 2013, so I don't really mind R*.

EDIT: And how freaking AMAZING would a GTA as a lauch title be, just imagine that!! And if it's not gonna be coming out for the new consoles I bet we'll have to wait way too long for a new GTA AND they will also not be able to sell as many DLC as they might want to, and I'm sure there's gonna be DLC. I do wonder, however, what implications this news may have for new generation consoles (rumored to be due in November): after the release of GTA 5, will there be no new GTA game for another 4-5 years? Will the new consoles be backwards-compatible? Just in case older consoles wear out? If Sony is releasing the ps4 early in the fall it could explain why GTA 5 is being pushed to September. Simultaneous release on both platforms (PS3 & PS4) that could also include the 720 and 360. That way they max sales and help to jump start next gen with a serious adoption rate. The plot thickens LOL

They could just release it "unpolished" then release a patch.

All this talk of the game getting more polished and less bugs etc. is bulls#it. The game will come out and need patches and the like regardless. Furthermore, anyone who thinks they are spending this time to add extra content for free is delusional. The only content they might add is going to be $ DLC just like every other greedy publisher. This extra time allows take 2 to hype bioshock in an effort not get lost in the mix. Furthermore it will assure investors/shareholders that there will be no net losses for the first and second quarters and instead be profitable on a non-GAAP basis for the fiscal year. Thereby theoretically possibly increasing stock value. In short $$$$$$$$
