“We’re also investing in Gen 4 console technologies and content,” said Riccitiello, as part of today’s financial results. “We’ve signalled that we’re working on the next editions of our two biggest franchises in Battlefield and FIFA. And, we look forward to discussing these programs and many others with you when we provide our FY14 guidance in May.”- EA's John Riccitiello

well thats extremely telling about the next generation launch windows for either Microsoft, Sony or both if your able to use common sense. FIFA 12 launched on September 27, 2011, and FIFA 13 launched on September 25, 2012. also Battlefield 3 launched October 25, 2011. FIFA is an annual title and Battlefield has become a bi-annual title similar to the Call of Duty franchise depending on the game and developer.

assuming EA wouldn't push back or halt the release of an annual title like FIFA you have to assume then that at least one next generation console will be out a few weeks before or a few weeks after late September of 2013. if that wouldn't be the case, then why would EA talk about a next generation version of an annual title so early? you can then only conclude that Battlefield 4 will be out presumably sometime in late October of 2013. not only does this confirm by association a next generation console being out sometime between August-October 2013, but that also means one or both console manufacturer will have to at least announce their new console very very soon to start marketing.

this also bring up a good point, if the new FIFA and Battlefield will be talked about in May 2013, then if this is not yet an official announcement for those two games by EA's Riccitiello. then there must be an official announcing of those titles by EA or some other gaming related source prior to May 2013. this leaves one option, these two titles will be at least announced for next generation systems. most likely by a console manufacturer either by press briefing or press event. So whether its Sony or Microsoft, at least one of these companies is unveiling or announcing their console and announcing these two titles for the next generation platform.

Yup,MS and Sony are getting ready to speak on their new consoles..

exactly, im guessing sometime in February, idk isnt Sony's Destination thing in February? but it would be odd Microsoft wouldn't also do it next month if they suspected Sony of an imminent announcement or vise versa. i guess we'll have to see..

I bet that bald, fat attention seeker that is M$ CEO Steve Ballmer...is gonna let slip that M$ are working on next gen console soon. He let slip Windows 8 before it was official shown or announced. Its only natural that he gets his attention he craves soon.

yes fifa is an annual product and bf every other yr... but they may go ahead and release fifa 14 in september and bf4 in october for current gen consoles and having the next gen fifa14 and BF4 as lunch titles for next gen consoles..

Thats prob whats going to happen. they wouldnt delay current gen. im guessing

That's the first thought that came to my mind as well. If EA is set to reveal the titles come May then we are going to see some mighty big announcements in June during E3.

Oh boy! Last E3 was very disappointing (to me) but this E3 will probably make up for it.

Well Sony Vice President has stated May as well I believe.

Its not uncommon for EA to side with Sony and Activision to side with Microsoft. So PS4 timed exclusive early BF4 beta? Maybe.

"We’re also investing in Gen 4 console technologies and content, We’ve signalled that we’re working on the >NEXT EDITIONS< of our two biggest franchises in Battlefield and FIFA"

pretty much confirms the next battlefield game will be next gen =]]]]

UnholyLight4101d ago

Been calling it for a long time now. What is laughable is that anyone can downvote this when it is so blatantly obvious. They would not speak about their games like this if this was not the case.

@Blue_Flowers: I think during odd years (someone correct me if I'm wrong), MS holds this conference/hands-on called "X".

Last year they had a "Spring Showcase" on February 29th (or somewhere in the vicinity) and it was HEAVILY embargoed till March 5th (or somewhere in that vicinity).

Either way, whether they call it X13 or the Spring Showcase 2013, I truly believe both Sony and MS are going to reveal their next-gen offerings in February to start the official hype and then drive that train straight into full-blown E3 madness come June.

ok yeah thats it, thanks man. i realize both Sony and Microsoft have big titles and exclusives still coming out on their current platforms. but i still think, like you, that February is the month of a next generation reveal.

I would hope EA get's their shit together sports wise this time around. That is all I ask for.

Sixty Four review - ChristCenteredGamer

CCG writes - "If you enjoy games like Factorio, Sixty Four is worth checking out. The asking price of $5.99 is very reasonable. On the title screen you can import/export your Base64 encrypted save file. This is handy to know if you want to make any edits. Otherwise you can enjoy picking up where you left off with the Steam cloud support."
