EA 'taking Medal of Honor out of rotation' after poor Warfighter reception

Electronic Arts is taking the Medal of Honor franchise out of its lineup due to low scores for Medal of Honor Warfighter, chief operating officer Peter Moore said in an investor call today.

"We struggled with two challenges: the slowdown that impacted the entire sector and poor critical and commercial reception for Medal of Honor Warfighter," said Moore. "Medal of Honor was an obvious miss. The game was solid, but the focus on combat authenticity did not resonate with consumers.

Gaming PR over the last few months has just gotten incredibly terrible. I am shocked that Peter Moore even has the decency to call Medal of Honor Warfighter solid. Seriously, situations like this are where they are better off not saying anything.

Im sorry but i was pissed when i got the Medal of Honor. The game wasnt as good as they hyped it to be. Thats why i didn't buy the second day one. After hearing how bad it was i just band it from my collection.

I agree... EA is blaming the "reception" the game got, but it deserved it. The campaign was mediocre, and the online is a complete broken mess. Every time I have tried to play online, it has some serious or even game breaking issue... EVERY ROUND. Danger Close needs to get their s#!t together. I want MoH to succeed, but they either need a better team or a longer development time... or both. The mechanics are there, but they need serious refinement.

I just wish they would go back to WWII, it was what the franchise did best. Give it a MoH Frontline feel, but with Airborne's really cool parachute into the level idea.

The first modern one was really good and just had online (thanks dice) and some technical issues but generally the core gameplay and story was there. I am sad at this news. Warfighter was a joke. the MoH brand could do well if they made a decent game which the latest edition wasn't.

It wasn't really medal of honor. It got put through the EA machine, came out as a horrible Call of duty & Battlefield hybrid that was not as good as either... Now EA are taking it
"out of rotation" because of the reception..

Who knows, maybe once upon a time this could have been a decent medal of honor game =/

I'm scared to death of the new Rainbow 6. Black arrow and Vegas were the best FPS I ever played. No killstreakd, no obnoxious load outs or 10 yard knife kills. Being able to host a game and kick players, set the match parameters just awesome. Please PLEASE Ubisoft don't FUCK IT UP!

Well new game is all third person. So...... I am skeptical. First person I love, but third person not quite as much.

I expect Ubisoft to try hard at E3 to impress with Rainbow Six. I will be watching and hoping that they do.

I actually liked the game quite a bit. This is too bad. I think this became the game people ripped on because they knew they could and no one would call them on it. Total mob mentality. I mean, I'm not saying it was a 10/10, but it wasn't anything lower than a 6. I would have played much more of it if more of my friends were playing.

Hopefully Danger Close gets to do something else.

Ah right. So, in effect, it's our fault? The game didn't sell well because we didn't 'get' its authenticity? Because we failed to appreciate how true to life Warfighter was? GTFO.

The last two Medal of Honor games failed because Danger Close tried too hard to emulate Call of Duty and Battlefield. They jumped on the modern-day conflict bandwagon and created IPs that were, at best, substandard whack-a-terrorist romps, and from a technical point of view MoH (2010) and MoH: Warfighter were about as solid as diarrhoea. I've never played a shooter with so many bugs...

As for EA, they need to look hard at their aggressive attitude to sales, because THAT is what is ruining the franchises they're publishing. Developers need time to make great games. Look at what happened with Battlefield 3; EA rushed it so as to compete with Modern Warfare 3, it shipped with a tonne of problems, and DICE spent months trying to get the title in decent shape. Had they been allowed to launch in March 2012 instead of October 2011, I'm confident they would've captured more interest from the CoD community because it would've been polished and more stable.

I will remember MoH for the WWII FPSes I played on PC, PSone and PS2 - all of which were interesting and enjoyable. I will not remember Danger Close's efforts to 'revive' the series.
