The most promising Xbox RPGs of 2013 and beyond

OXM - Nothing gets us hotter under the collar or moister of armpit than the thought of a new role-playing game - and the years ahead are ablaze with promise on that count, despite a general unwillingness to share details for fear of giving away the status of next gen hardware.

I was disappointed by DA2 but I think DA3 will be interesting, providing there's truth to the rumours about taking control of the inquisition.

One thing I'd like them to do with the next gen hardware is dramatically increase the number and variety of combat animations, so that battles look like actual, properly choreographed battles rather than people knocking hitpoints off each other.

Mass Effect 4
Cyberpunk 2077
Fallout 4
Dragon Age 3
Dark Souls 2
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
Lightning Returns FF13
South Park The Stick of Truth

landog4099d ago

i'll be playing all of these games!

cannot wait

though i will be playing them all on pc, except dragons dogma expansion, might pick that up on ps3 or 360, depending on which platform runs better

KnightRobby4099d ago

The Witcher 3 is going to be amazing. I am really hoping they nail the entire open-world feel while maintaining the affect a player has on the world.

linkenski4099d ago

If they make a proper jump mechanic, it would make the world so much more impressive.

PS4isKing_824099d ago

Gotta say that's a pretty lame list of games.
Seriously? Lightning returns and mass effect 4?
Those have become two of the most hated series from this gen.

And the rest in that list isn't anything special either.

ShugaCane4099d ago

If you find nothing special in Cyberpunk 2077 or Fallout 3, maybe you should keep playing Halo or Call of Duty.

Good_Guy_Jamal4099d ago

No offense but you're way off on Mass Effect. 3's ending may have angered a vocal view but the series in no way hated by many.

hano4099d ago

Well Mass effect has become stale.

Perjoss4099d ago

hano, you have to have some faith my friend, for all we know ME4 could be even better than ME1, lets wait and see shall wee. Nobody is saying you gotta go out and buy it on day 1, but at least give them the benefit of the doubt until the reviews start rolling in.

hano4099d ago (Edited 4099d ago )

If people want RPG's they should get a gaming PC.
That's where the really good RPGs are coming.

Wastelands 2, Project Eternity, ShadowRun...and many more.

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."

LG_Fox_Brazil3d ago

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai3d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

CrimsonWing693d ago

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle2d ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal2d ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa2d ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal2d ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

*As per Wikipedia

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.

Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-earth II - PC Wore it Better

Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-earth II was an intriguing and unique RTS title, that sadly suffered in its console port.

dadavis19923d ago

Was just thinking about this game and wishing I had a way to revisit it. The way EA scrubs these titles from existence once their licensing runs out is horrid.

Michiel19893d ago

there is a client made by modders and it also works online.

kevco333d ago

Indeed. The game can still be played online on PC.

Xbox 360 players, though? Bang outta luck.
