Disney Infinity’s Extra Content Is On Disc, And It's No Big Deal

Game Informer - I was poking around online this morning when I saw this story. The gist of it is that Disney Infinity includes all of the game’s upcoming content on the disc, which a Disney rep says might mean that hackers could uncover it ahead of schedule. Considering Infinity’s ultimate goal of timing that content with movie and DVD releases, it could be a problem for Disney if those announcements are blown before they want to make the info public.

I was commenting on another article about how terrible on disc DLC is, specifically referring to this game. Now that I read this article, I think I misunderstood the way their on disc DLC works, IF this article is accurate. According to the article the on disc DLC everyone's complaining about is unlocked by buying the physical character figurines and plugging them in to your console. I knew that already, but I thought the on disc DLC people were talking about was different. I was imagining that when the next Disney movie comes out you could pay money to unlock that world or something. If it's just the figure thing that's all fine then. That's their whole gimmick. A kid buys the toy, sticks it on the stand, and magically he can play with it on his 360 or whatever. Is this article correct? Is this really what people are complaining about?

I still hate on disc DLC but this is a bit different, in my opinion.

Well if they have to do it like Figures unlocks DLC then I cannot see any other way around it other than patching in DLC which could be huge. Skylanders did it with the addon content. You bought a pirate ship or some other toy which unlocked new areas but obviously that content was already on your system rather on the disc or from a patch. I know people don't like paying for DLC already on disc but would you rather have a massive patch instead? As these new waves of toys unlock characters/levels etc type of games means no dlc comes digitally like with other games. So there has to be some sort of workaround.

iMho ... its still on the disc.... and the toy plays NO role what so ever(didnt read the article,,just coments) in the game itself...

i say they should have put the content on the toy. and when u plug it in .. it copies it over to the system

JUST because its already on the disc,., you should be able to unlock it without purchasing anything at all

Is Disney Infinity Coming To The PS5 & Xbox Series X?

There is a huge gap in the market at the moment. There aren’t many (if any) toys-to-life games available for the two consoles yet. A reboot or remake of the game would work so well, especially with Disney’s current roster of characters, films and TV shows.

Did Disney sell the rights to Activision? I never knew they had the rights to Disney Infinity.

They DO have the rights to Skylanders though.

Plus there's a financial reason every publisher gave up on the "toys to life" thing. So I doubt they'll revive any of them.

It wasnt Skylanders fault Activision squeezed the cow too hard.

"During its earning calls, Activision confirmed that Skylanders: Swap Force had made them more money than Call of Duty: Ghosts. Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg revealed the numbers, putting Skylanders at a whopping $2 billion in revenue after it sold 175 million toys.May 7, 2014"

"Skylanders Reached the Milestone of 250 million figures sold in 2015 and passed $3 billion made"

Is it possible Disney Infinity or other toys to games could return, but I'll be honest I really hope they don't come back.

These kinds of games are just another way for the game studios to nickle and dime you for every cent you have.

Disney Infinity was a fun game I could play with my kid back in the day. I still have it and the 100+ toys and yes, it works on PS5. But my kid is a teenager now and we've both moved on to more serious games.

Exact same thing here, we played Disney Infinity and Lego Dimensions. Both were great but are now just two big boxes full of stuff that never gets used.

We played Lego Dimensions, too.. and I still have all those toys. It also works on PS5.
