The Wind Waker is Possibly the Best Zelda Ever

The Wind Waker is possibly the best Zelda ever, and that being the case the improved The Wind Waker HD is possibly the finest Zelda game ever crafted. Of course, this is all semantics that hold no true value without the point being well defended. You see, calling anything the best ever in any situation, let alone within a franchise of video games, is always a very subjective matter. Not everyone is going to agree with the opinions of another, and Nathanial Rumphol-Janc;s views on this title do not represent Zelda Informer on the whole.

Nathanial prefaces it like this because discussions oriented topics like this often get misconstrued. This isn’t meant to be a definitive “this is the best” claim, because to many people out there other titles are their preferred game of choice. Still, it’s almost undeniable how fantastic this title truly is

It's in my top 5, but i don't think it's the best.

PopRocks3594100d ago

Agreed. I expect a bunch of disagrees for it, but Skyward Sword is honestly my favorite so far. 1:1 sword play was pretty sick, and I loved the story and art style. Majora's Mask is a close second to that.

theBAWSE4099d ago

Ocarina of time the first and best 3d Zelda in my eyes

DA_SHREDDER4099d ago

I hope they do an HD remake for Majora's next myserlf. Zelda was like the only good game that used the Wii mote, but i still prefer the story and gameplay in Majora's way better.

Benjaminkno4099d ago

Honestly, my expectations were too high with ocarina, I didn't even really play Majora, but I need to.

I really liked Link's Awakening, I think that's my favorite.

guitarded774100d ago

I agree... the original TLZ is still my favorite. It still holds up, and established so many of the genre and franchises conventions.

TheFirstClassic4100d ago (Edited 4100d ago )

My favorite is link to the past but the original is probably my second favorite, the number one nes game imo. I really think it doesn't get enough attention.

miyamoto4099d ago (Edited 4099d ago )

The timing too.

I just can't stand this kind stuff people put up with just to justify their favorite console or cover its problems.

Do I smell desperation or panic or denial?

No need for damage control.
Nintendo is not going anywhere.
As long as there are kiddie gamers there will be a market for Nintendo.

And by their own words they already negated the title of the article cos the article claims that the Wii U version will be better than Wind Waker.

There is no accounting for taste.

This is the first zelda to turn me off, I bought it and play for 2 hours or so. I hated the looks, feels, its cartoonish handling and inmature guide that left me wonder WTF happened?

animegamingnerd4100d ago

then he missed out on a great game

ahronith4099d ago

Well, your avatar says everything...

N0S3LFESTEEM4100d ago

Hated the visual style they chose on Wind wanker... Had it been more in touch with the style from the N64 then I would consider it.

yeahokchief4099d ago

legend of zelda: ocarina of time was the best

this one was pretty good. i dont need to play it again.

Knushwood Butt4099d ago

WW is probably my fave out of the one I have played.

I always found the cell shaded visuals added to the charm.

Having said that, I'm not interested in an HD port.

I don't think so, especially when you consider how tedious the navigation is.

PhantomTommy4100d ago

Everybody goes on and on about that but you unlock the warp melody fairly early in the game so I don't see the problem.

xflo3604099d ago (Edited 4099d ago )

Its amazing how people harp go on and on about that one thing isnt it?!, for me sailing was what made the game so good.
It made the game an actual adventure, finding new islands was always exciting. my personal fave!

Benjaminkno4099d ago

Yeah, the sailing gets extremely ridiculous.
I hated not being able to spend all my pointless rupees. Half the world is empty with little to get, except more rupees you can't use.

I liked the cartoonish medium they used. It's how we remember the originals.

greatcrusader444100d ago

Majora's Mask for me, but WW is second or third

Honestly I really changed my mind on Fi with the remaster because they didn't make her interrupt your gameplay every 5 seconds, that drastically changed my views on her

Inverno71d ago

Technically she's in ToTK but obviously can't take any other form than the sword she was made into. Also the companion feature has been done plenty of times in Zelda, I don't think it'll add anything new. If anything should be brought back it should be the Minish.

Directionless Modern Zelda Should Return to its 3D Roots

Matt from We Game Daily writes "The Legend of Zelda series has gone in a different direction. One which, try as I have, I just can’t get on board with. Here is why I think Zelda should return to its 3D roots."

Amen! A good, tight, Zelda game with a focus on dungeons and puzzles. Let people have the new style Zelda if you gotta, but let us have the OoT style games too. That's not without precedent either, the handheld 2D Zelda's in the style of A Link to the Past etc have coexisted alongside the 3D Zelda's before

FinalFantasyFanatic102d ago

As much as I like BoTW, TotK, I need my traditional Zelda games as well, I could not endlessly play the open world Zelda games, plus it's harder to keep those fresher than the traditional games.

Eidolon102d ago (Edited 102d ago )

BotW was just as fresh to the franchise as OoT was. TokT was great but the next LoZ would have to move from that formula to be fresh again. There's only so much they can do with the hardware. I think they focused too much on making the world big instead impactful. I felt the world was sort of empty and repetitive in TotK, sure there was a lot to do but no more difference a Ubisoft game..

anast102d ago

I wouldn't worry too much. Nintendo knows what they are doing.

Ristul102d ago

Wind Waker had a perfect balance of open world and a cool, well hand-crafted design. Maybe try to keep the open world but put in effort to make more memorable story driven quests and locations.

Zelda Fan Brings Godzilla to Life in Tears of the Kingdom

A fan of The Legend of Zelda has recreated the iconic Japanese monster Godzilla in Tears of the Kingdom using the game's Zonai devices.

Knightofelemia140d ago

I like it would also be cool if some created Dragon Caesar in the game I would love to watch the two going at it.
